Although pricey they have top grade cheeses and salami. Love the red witch cheese! They have sandwiches and an abundance of precooked frozen meals such as pot pies and lasagna. They also have all types of pastas and crackers to choose from. Small selection of wines. I go here to make a special charcuterie board for friends. We picked up a picnic for 2 before heading out on a days long bike ride! The freshly made sandwiches, potato salad and cookies were perfect and sooo tasty! The quality has really gone down hill sense the new owners took over. Many of the frozen entrees taste bland or have a weird almost burnt after taste. The items in the deli case taste like they've been sitting there for days. It's also really off putting seeing the owner cooking the food with his tongue sticking out, that can't be sanitary. Happy to be back in California after 9 months in France, but wasn't looking forward to returning to the bread and cheese. Back Porch flies in par-baked, authentic French baguette (tradition) loaves from LA every day, which should be more bizarre than it is, and for a fair price you can get raw milk cheeses to spread on it. Their selection of prepared Italian is excellent--homemade pasta, pizza dough, meatballs, prosciuitto, etc--as is their selection of specialty pastas (expensive though, $6 for 500g for the finest). The owners and staff are friendly, knowledgable, and gracious. read more

I love this place and I can't believe it took me so long to find out about it. It's easy to drive by and not realize you're missing a great little gourmet market. A serious hidden gem in GV/NC. I found this place; actually, my nose found this place one unassuming afternoon as I was jogging past the store. The innocuous aromas emanating from this storefront captivated my senses as I subconsciously made a u-turn to go in. I instantly saw what it was that smelled so good. They had just finished making meatballs, and were working on the sauce. I bought two, walked home, ate one, and couldn't just let the other languish in the refrigerator. Needless to say, I didn't really end up running that day but instead discovered my new go-to store for fresh, homemade raviolis, pastas, meatballs, macarons, croissants, and countless other delicacies. Rose and Erik are so great to work with! I was having two days of meals for 12 people - dinner, appetizers then breakfast the next day. They made suggestions for the main dishes, quiches and assure me the sizes of each dish would serve 12. The chicken cacciatore was fabulous! Everyone raved. The antipasti plate included some unusual cheeses and meats not just standard antipasti. You can even cheese taste at their deli and make your own choices. The Caesar salad was so delish people came back for seconds - our guests are serious foodies. All details were thought out and ready to go precisely on time. I was having Sunday and Monday meals. They normally don't work on Sunday but came in anyway to finish my order. They have a great "can do" attitude. We ordered an Antipasto Tray for Christmas. Not only was it the best tasting one we have ever had, it was also the most beautiful. The artichoke hearts were perfically marinated, the meat artistically laid out on the tray, and everything else just added to the overall best tray ever. We have had their frozen items before, which are excellent, and their polenta squares, which are the best thing since sliced bread which they sometimes have available in store. We would definitely recommend you check them out.
