Our first visit and on a busy Sunday. Great service and atmosphere. The waiting room was full but we were seated in under 10minutes. Tables are all wooden picnic benches which gives it that backwoods feel and unique experience. The sausage gravy is spot on and the biscuits are soft and flaky. These were definitely made fresh that morning. One of my favorite biscuits and gravy by far. Chicken fried steak is a bit on the small size. And we would love if a pancake came as a toast option. We will be back to try some other options in the menu soon. Highly recommend. read more

This little cafe is worth the stop if you find yourself in the Yakima region. We we greeted the moment we talked in and found it to be quite busy for brunch time. Fortunately, they had a table and the wait very brief. I was rather impressed as service was friendly and attentive during our entire visit. I ordered the backwoods French toast and my buddy had the corned beef hash. We both really enjoyed our time here and I would definitely return again the next time I'm driving through. read more

We are always on the hunt for breakfast spots. My husband and I do a weekly breakfast once a week and we tried Backwoods Cafe. This place is so cozy and the service is impeccable! Super attentive and friendly. The prices are also somewhat impressive. Don't even get me started on their hash browns or baby potatoes. Oh my gato....you will not be disappointed in either of those options and the fact that they have that many breakfast potato options is CRAZY! I think we found our new favorite breakfast spot. Amazing service and amazing food. I definitely want to go back and try more options. Kudos to the staff today too, you all were amazing and fast. read more

We will always come here for a breakfast while in town and they're open. We're always warmly greeted, promptly I might add. The food is great, along with good prices. And the table service is spot on. Food comes out quick and hot, and the beverages rarely get to empty. read more

Great little place. Don't let the parking lot fool you. The inside is well decorated in a rustic style. The service and friendliness of the staff is great. While I couldn't eat everything the chicken fried steak skillet was excellent. The Bloody Mary was good and everyone at the table enjoyed their drinks and food. While the food and drinks are great the staff are even better. We will return. read more

Food: the peanut butter French toast, and huevos rancheros were excellent. The gravy on the chicken fried steak was okay, but the steak itself was juicy and tender. The baby reds were not seasoned well. Service was absolutely outstanding. Ambiance: the place is a dive and seating is scarce and some of it is quite uncomfortable (hard seats), but the bathrooms are super clean. read more

We chose to eat here on our last day here in Yakima for breakfast. I had 2 egg breaker no meat, my husband had biscuits and gravy with potatoes and eggs, my father in law had the country omelet (Denver omelet) and my mother in law had a veggie omelet and everyone enjoyed their food and it was huge portions. The staff was so nice and super attentive and didn't need for anything. The decor is super cute kinda like a cabin feel :) super cute and clean I would definitely recommend this place. Walking into the Backwoods Cafe feels a little like you walked into someone's house, but without all the awkward apologizing and de-escalating that usually goes with that. Instead, you're welcomed warmly in, invited to grab an available table, and hunker down while you decide which of the many menu options to try. We went for the Cowboy omelette and the chicken fried steak and eggs. Both were excellent, offering healthy portions that weren't too much. Whatever you get, be sure to try the baby red potatoes, a delightful addition to pretty much any meal. The Backwoods Cafe is one of those places that's mostly frequented by locals, and while you're there you'll likely catch conversations about what's happening in Yakima. Consider it just a little added local flavor to the delicious meal in front of you. read more

Ok- onto the food. It took me a while to order because IT ALL SOUNDED AMAZING! Pancakes tasted like vanilla cake. I prefer the classic taste of pancakes but I think people who love vanilla will love these pancakes. Hamburger was great and the fries in the picture (crinkled) were not what I got. I got steak fries but they were really yummy! I got the fry sauce and it was just a classic experience. I had to remove a few onion slices because there were massive amounts of raw onion. We needed a place for breakfast for our group of 7 that was in town for wine tasting. Based on the reviews, we wanted to give it a try and glad we did. Small space but well used. Service was wonderful. Our order was taken and although they were busy it didn't take long to get our food. Food was great and pricing reasonable. Parking lot is shared as it's a strip mall. This place is such a cute and cozy vibe! The food was fast and delicious. I had the huevos rancheros and my guy had the cowboy omelette. I definitely recommend this place to anyone passing through especially if you're looking for a breakfast/brunch after the Gorge! Only thing that I wanna say to the owner is, if you change the lighting in the seating area by the kitchen to warmer lighting it would be a far better vibe and mood lifter. read more

We only stopped in for breakfast, between camping areas. Looking to beat the 100F heat. They suffer from issues of hiring waitstaff, but the food was fantastic as far as we were concerned. Traditional food, with a Mexican flair. If you never have had a roasted jalapeno with a plate, do consider it. I had the Corned Beef Hash. While it says house made, the potatoes come pre-diced. They taste the same, regardless of the blade or who cut them. The coffee hasa dry finish, and doesn't out-compete the food as we've seen in enough places. Parking is plentiful. Totally hit the spot. They offer 'skillets, and we saw a few get served, we just weren't in the mood. If you are nearby and need breakfast, this one is a winner. Tagging tyese folks on my map app. read more

This place was delicious! The staff were super friendly and helpful, there was a bit of a wait but I definitely don't mind waiting for good food! The menu was huge, so many tasty options it was difficult to only pick one! I had the chorizo skillet with over easy eggs and a fried jalapeño on the side for breakfast. The skillet had chorizo, potatoes and onions and came with toast. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The jalapeño really added to it! Looked up a place to eat while killing some time. Eating was 4.0 so I went there for breakfast. I'm glad I did as it was excellent. Greeted with friendly staff and they were very attentive. Absolutely delicious food, superb service and so many coffee refills you can float away if not careful. We were in town for my grandson's HS graduation. Luckily Yelp led us to this place on morning 1, we went back every day and took the kids on the last day. Sorry no pictures it was just too good to stop for a snapshot. If I lived there I would be in trouble. Between all of us we had 14 different dishes and each one garnered praise from even the most jaded. GO THERE, EAT WELL! Yelp led me to this diner and I'm so glad it did! Such a cute little mom and pop shop. People are super friendly and the food was delicious! I can see how it could get super busy really fast on the weekends. There's limited seating, so come early. If you're driving through Yakima, stop here. There's something for everyone! read more

My family and I stumbled upon this restaurant while traveling through Yakima and dropped in for breakfast. I am SO glad we did. The food, staff and service were amazing! The place was quite busy but we got seated right away. Their menu is extensive and they serve large portions so come hungry! Seriously the pancakes are about as large as a dinner plate. They have traditional dishes as well as some Mexican breakfast dishes too like Huevos Rancheros and Chilaquiles...which, by the way, was delicious! Make sure to check out their scrambles and their Backwoods French Toast... It is French Toast coated in either peanut butter cereal or corn flakes. Need I say more?! Go grab a bite there. This might be a good place for a special occasion, but probably not somewhere we'd choose for an everyday casual lunch.

Not only is this place beautiful, the wait staff is absolutely cream of the crop. Old fashions, margaritas, steak frites, artichoke, wedge salad, burgers, need I say more?? The cook on everything was fabulous and again their team was awesome. My only complaint is the wait was long for any of our food to come out but after that it was great. Make sure you stop by if you find yourself in yak town!

Personally, I think it was an effort to save money as the order came from a group of 4 adults and 1 child. I am open to trying again but wasn't impressed with enchiladas, burger (drowned in mayo) or especially the fish and chips. I have had better at a couple fast food places, a diner, a dive bar and food truck in the area.
