We haven't been in a while but went today ( Mother's Day) for breakfast Most of the people working are new ... 2 eggs,hash browns and toast ... up to $13 ( no meat) The waitress never came back to the table to refill coffees... I took the cup up to the counter for a refill ... The food was good just lacking in service. Hopefully it will improve... I think someone needs to be training the waitresses ... 3 tables needed cleared and people waiting to sit down. It's a small place and there were 3 waitresses working... The price should reflect your food. The food, I had the country fried steak, well it had more fried than steak but still was decent enough. The waitress when I got there was beginning to get over whelmed but held herself. Staff was kind cooks were great food was hot. Will return and try different items. read more

Ok breakfast eaters listen up. You want a delicious breakfast I found it. It's like finding the treasure chest in Yakima. I had been seeing this restaurant when searching for a breakfast place. I will not mention all the breakfast spots I have tried but let me say I have tried all of them. I decided to bring my daughter on a father daughter breakfast to share how our lives are doing. Ok let me say everything on the menu sounded delicious but I had made up my mind before driving here that I had to try the biscuits and gravy. Hmmm let me tell you the best biscuits and gravy in Yakima. The portion are big and I should have took pictures but I was so excited to eat the food that i forgot. This is now my to go breakfast spot. It was that good. They also have lunch until 2pm. This is your spot if you want a delicious meal served with a very friendly staff. Not sure I've ever been more disappointed in a restaurant. It used to be so good, and now, despite a nice upgrade in ambience, the food is atrocious. I requested very, very crispy bacon in my burrito, making it very obvious what I wanted - and I could swear it was intentionally undercooked. I paid $4 for a soda, and practically had to beg somebody to refill it, to the point where my wife walked up to the front of the restaurant and asked for a refill. The prices are also very high for what you get. Do not go here. read more

I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with the majority of the posts here. Looking at most of the peeps that have shared their opinions, I'd guess the glass is often half empty. Cheer up, this place is good! The predominance of our trips have been for lunch, but we're yet to have a truly negative experience here as we've dined for breakfast as well. The owners are a lovely couple who've been in town for quite some time and IMO provide a much needed alternative to the standard subs and fast food that make up the bulk of restaurants in the area. Pseudo-rant over, now on to the comida! As stated, we frequent here for lunch when we're in town. The ABC, the grilled TBA (Turkey, Bacon, Avocado) and the BLT are crowd favorites, but in actuality, I've really never had anything here that I didn't like. Espresso options rather than just coffee is nice. I'm not sure if there is "free trade, organic, shade grown, civet (look it up!)" espresso and to be honest, I'm not all that interested in it - I just want some caffeinated goodness and to date, we've found that here. The atmosphere is homey and relaxed. Apparently to the chagrin of others, there's not a bunch of hipster art and ironic pictures of someone taking a selfie in the mirror, just nice décor that shows their trying to make the place a spot you can hang out for a while and just chat. Staff is friendly and makes things right if you feel they're not. We'll keep coming back for both the food and the atmosphere. It won't be the coolest place you've ever been, but it'll probably be one that you like! read more

Stopped in for Sunday breakfast after the long drive from "the wet side" and before continuing to the TH for Cowivhe Canyon. I chose the Florentine burrito, with hash browns and coffee. I enjoyed the spinach and mushroom filling, especially as I'd forgotten to eat breakfast before setting out. The wait staff are pleasant and all the other patrons are locals. Given the restaurant's name, they offer the expected Italian inspired espresso drinks, but drip was fine with the home style food. read more

This place is delicious! The customer service can't get any better. First time trying it and we're glad we did. They are also dog friendly, greeted my Yorkie "Gigi" with the upmost respect. Came in just on a whim as I saw this place around the corner and I wanted some lunch. The decor and the ambience got me pretty excited as I got the menu. I ordered the grilled chicken pesto club sandwich with chips. It didn't take very long to make and as soon as I got it I felt deflated. The sandwich was way small, no veggies on it (you would think a club would have at least lettuce and tomato). It was just toasted white bread with a very wet pesto, which was not very flavorful. The description of the sandwich on the menu said there was bacon, but you could barely taste it. The chicken was just...chicken. Where it really got me was the store bought jar pickle and the bag of Lays chips. I paid $10 for everything so at the very least, the chips could be homemade or the sandwich could have some personality. I would guess that this cafe shines more for it's breakfast. I like to support local, family-owned businesses, and this eatery is a favorite. The menu is pretty basic for both breakfast and lunch, but does have unique offerings. Today I had the grilled chicken pesto bacon sandwich, which was great! They do have daily specials as well as a full service coffee bar including a large selection of tea. The breakfast was delicious. It was not too far off the freeway but there was construction, which added time. I got the strawberry waffle in the my husband got the pancakes. Both came out promptly, piping hot and very tasty. The restaurant is handicapped accessible, I am on crutches. The employees were very helpful and the bathroom was spotless. read more

Coffee may be good but....this is the second time we have been unhappy with the food. The first bad experience; my husband ordered a Fench Dip sandwich. Instead of letting him know they were out of hoagie rolls, he was served his French Dip on a hotdog bun. He was told they would reduce the price but that never happened. He was too nonconfrontational to ask for lower price. Second bad experience: for $28.00 my husband got a tasty but tiny hamburger and I received an egg salad sandwich on very stale bread. When I mentioned it to our waitress I pretty much got blown off...... Best part of meal: slice of pickle and bag of potato chips. read more

First time in. Ordered an omelette with home style potatoes. I specifically asked if the potatoes were cooked with peppers or onions (often they are) and she said "No, they aren't cooked with anything." Upon receiving my breakfast, I immediately discovered the potatoes were deep fried. Not something I was expecting nor wanted. I am now wishing I choose hash browns. My omelette looked OK but the mushrooms poking out looked a bit dry. Also, the bacon was so crumbled it literally wouldn't stay on my fork when I tried to take a bite. This restaurant (as Ballesteri's Café) was recommended to me as a good take-out place for doctor's lunches, for my first time working a clinic in Yakima. The location wasn't especially convenient, the chicken salad sandwich wasn't very big (and seemed to be on plain manufactured sandwich bread) although it had a decent flavor, and the chips were just a small bag of plain Lay's. Oh, and there was an issue with ringing the order up (the cashier forgot to add the sodas and had to rerun the card) which was a bit weird and slowed things down with me getting back to clinic. I can't imagine I couldn't do better next time someplace else. read more

This coffee house and breakfast spot is a favorite of mine in Yakima. They are casual, yet fun, with decent food and prices. I like going there with my friends and parents. I went to this neighborhood spot for the first time in December. First impressions were good! It was a mid morning on a Saturday and I liked the level of activity. The food was good, servers were on Fleek especially Janet, she was fantastic and worked really well with the other server that was there. I was excited to find a spot that serves breakfast all day so close to home. Since that first time it has fallen into the law of diminishing returns. I have been here all together about eight times and I feel like the time is coming that I won't go back. I don't know what happened to the staff, but all the servers now seem to be surly and bothered that you came in, they like their regulars probably because they are ok with the status quo....Not me I like a smile and sunny disposition with my breakee. It's priced right with good food and comfortable seating. I had the breakfast special for $5 and an espresso. They serve breakfast until 1 pm every day! While it's true that you can make a good sandwich at home, it is truly great when someone will make it for you. I have loved every sandwich and soup I have had at this restaurant. I have only had one salad, and while I was excited that their oriental chicken salad was the cabbage and noodles version I had hoped for, it was drenched in dressing. I don't know if this is technically a coffee house, I would call it a sandwich shop... regardless, I like the service at Ballesteri's and I think they have a pretty good menu, I'm not however, impressed whatsoever by their breakfast menu.
