    This week's specials

Good food and great service. We were driving through town and saw this place on Yelp and decided to stop. We're glad we did. The BLT deviled eggs and the Duck bacon wontons (though not actually in wonton wrappers) were delicious. The French toast chicken sandwich was amazing!

I couldn't believe the food options at this sweet little place on the square. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. Beautiful bar area and fun local spot. The lobster dip was over the top yummy, Mediterranean flat bread delicious and the chicken croissant daily special didn't have a chance to sit because it was so good

Alright first time dining here with a group of 6 ladies. Overall good service and delicious food. Just a few tweaks would have made the experience better! They had a crazy rush right when we got there so service was a little slow with drinks refills, and getting our food. Our server also forgot to swap fries for the kettle chips as well as either her or the cook forgot not to put jalapeños in the quesadilla. Otherwise pretty good service! Now the food: I ordered two of their specials (one to bring home to my husband): Jalapeño Honey Chicken sandwich-very good! Only thing that would have made it amazing if they had grilled the bun. Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich- very good as well but again would have been amazing with a toasted bun! French Fries and Kettle Chips very good! The fries are thin and crispy and the kettle chips have a nice seasoning on them. Others at the table had the Pulled Pork Sandwich, a cowboy quesadilla, chili, fried pickles (sampled one of those and it was yummy) and a plain Jane burger. Everyone enjoyed their food!

We loved this place! We were in town for a wedding and looking for a solid place to grab some lunch. Bad Apple saloon did not disappoint! The decor is really fun and true to its name everything is red and green themed. We went mid afternoon on a Friday and were surprised by how full it was! The star of our meal was the appetizer- we split the duck bacon wontons and honestly I thought we'd died and gone to food heaven. We also had the onion rings which were good but no comparison to the wontons. For our meals I went with the tuna salad which I really enjoyed. It was a solid tuna to Mayo mix which I always appreciate. Hubby had the blue street burger which was so large he couldn't finish it. It also came served with a generous portion of fries which were crispy, crunchy, and very tasty! When he couldn't finish this is where I did my wifely duty to step in and assist! They have live music in the evening which we weren't there to listen to but I find this a big plus if you're looking for good food and a fun night out!

    Blue Cheese Bacon Kettle Chips

The food was excellent. We had: Blue Cheese Bacon Kettle Chips, Chicken Ceasar Salad, and Onion Soup... all were delicious. For dessert we tried both the Raspberry Cheesecake and Cannoli. Both of which we loved! The servers were fun, very good dirty martinis and we throughly enjoyed everything about this cute little standout of a tavern! Try It! Two Thumbs, Way Up!

Don't let the sign fool you, it's perfectly family oriented. Although it looks like a hoot after dark!

Before you even open the door, the vintage neon sign proudly advertising "Air Conditioned for Your Comfort" makes you smile and reminds you of an era when air conditioning was a luxury worth bragging about. Inside, the restaurant has done a wonderful job preserving its history. The original pressed tin ceiling, beautiful woodwork, mosaic tile floor, vintage lighting, and classic booths create an atmosphere that is difficult to find anymore. You can tell this isn't a place trying to look old--it is old, and it has been lovingly maintained. If you appreciate historic architecture, take a few minutes to look around. It's worth it. Service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. My daughter enjoyed her eggs, sausage, and toast, while I had a bacon, egg, and bacon sandwich on toast with mayonnaise, along with a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of coffee. Everything was fresh and satisfying. My only minor suggestion would be that I would have liked my toast a little more done, especially since my daughter's was toasted just the way I prefer. It certainly wasn't enough to take away from the experience. The Crystal Restaurant has been serving the Watertown community since 1925, and it's easy to understand why it has become such a local landmark. Places with this much history and character are becoming increasingly rare. If you're looking for a good breakfast served in a restaurant with genuine historic charm, the Crystal Restaurant is well worth a visit.

The vintage diner feel was cozy, and the Coca-Cola light fixtures were unique. Each table also had its own vintage jukebox. We came on a busy Sunday morning, but got lucky and were sat right away. From the beginning, and throughout our experience, the staff were very friendly. Our sever brought us drinks within minutes, and we were able to put in our orders pretty quick. Like I said, it was a busy Sunday, so it took awhile for us to receive our food. But this gave my wife and I time to talk, and enjoy the ambiance. I ordered the breakfast lasagna (had never seen this before) with white toast and a side of corned beef hash. When the food came out, it was warm and fresh. The breakfast lasagna had a nice flavor from the peppers and onions and meats that were baked inside. The base was made from what seemed like mashed potatoes which threw me off a little, but wasn't bad. The toast had a good toast to it, and was nicely buttered. I am a corned beef hash lover, and Shorty's was pretty good! The flavors meshed well together and the texture was great. My wife ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits which was not great. The sausage gravy was lacking flavor, with the main taste being cream. The sausage within the gravy was cut up sausage links, and for myself and my wife at least, we prefer ground sausage. Lastly, the biscuits were nothing to write home about. They were not bad but they didn't wow. Overall, I gave Shorty's a three because the food didn't wow me. There was not anything wrong with the food we had at all, and we will probably be back in the future to try some of their other food. Otherwise, my wife and I also loved the feel of the diner itself.
