One of the staff members was assigned to us the whole time, which made it more fun because you could actually improve throughout the night. She was so patient and fun! Could have been more fun if they showed up on time....We booked a group birthday party and the coaches did not get there to even open the doors until an hour after our scheduled time. For paying $40/person for a private group it just put a damper on the day, and they did not seem very apologetic about it. Was looking for a different type of team building event for our group, which also coincided with a birthday - this was a great choice. There's a wide range of athletic skills between us but overall we all had a good time! Jesse (sp?) was our axe coach and spent extra time with those of us who didn't grow up chopping wood and should be considered dangerous with sharp objects. Towards the end of our time, all of us hit a great stride and got competitive - although the byob did help with that too of course. Great time - our only suggestion would be to have cups if you're offering byob option so guests don't need to walk to the Family Dollar to do that. Now it's just another corporate hellhole like the rest. Share a lane with a bunch of people when you walk in. Now almost 25% more expensive per own. And now you have to buy beer instead of bringing your own. Over $25 for 4 beers. I've been 5 times now. You've lost a customer in me and a bunch more of my friends when I tell them. read more

This place is a dud so don't get your hopes up. The restrooms are disgusting...no idea how they pass local code, picnic tables look as if they never get cleaned, same goes for the axe handles. ( a little 409 would go a long way ). The guys running the place could use a reality check and take down the macho routine a few pegs. Literally watched & overheard a half dozen girls complaining about these guys getting too touchy & close, was pretty creepy to watch actually. I've seen this concept in other locations work quite well, this one however looks like it was thrown together at minimal expense. If you go into this place with zero expectations & don't mind weirdos breathing on your neck... you should be fine. read more

We had a group of 11 people and none of us had ever done this before. We had a WONDERFUL coach, Jimi, who was terrific, and while keeping us safe (from each other) also had a great sense of humor. She helped make the evening so much fun. Our two hours seemed to fly by, especially once we all got comfortable with the throwing part which allowed us to get competitive. My husband, cousin and I walked in on a whim on a Friday afternoon! We couldn't have a made better choice! This was by far one of the most fun things I've done in a long time! If you're not familiar with the concept, there are lanes with bullseyes set up at the end for scoring. If you're worried about not being strong enough to stick an axe-don't be! The axes felt very light (3-5 pounds) and have a good grip. I almost no upper body strength and I could even stick axes! They also have a coach who gives you an orientation and will come help you with your form to make sure you're successful! Since we walked in, we didn't realize it, but Bad Axe is BYOB as well. We we will definitely be back to go again and also bring a few cold ones with us! PS: the back wall is painted super cute! Perfect 'gramable backdrop! read more

Super fun for families and groups. Christopher was a great coach - clear instructions, very encouraging & entertaining. Allotted time for standard reservation (2.5 hrs) is very generous & allowed for plenty of games & mini competitions. Building had large area w/ other (XL sized) games available for play. Everyone in our group (ages 12-65+) had an incredible time and we will definitely go back. Even though I have discovered that an axe should not be my weapon of choice in the event of a Zombie apocalypse, I highly highly recommend Bad Axe Throwing! read more

This place is so fun! My family and I tried it out for my birthday a few months ago, and I've been back as a walk-in with a friend. You can bring in your own food and drinks, and they even have a mini fridge for you to use if you need it. Reservations are easy, and you have a coach in your lane to teach you and give you throwing tips. Favorite things about this place: -Staff are friendly and accommodating. After you get the hang of how to throw an axe, they'll introduce games for you to play to keep things interesting and healthily competitive. -BYOB! -There are lots of tables and room for you to stretch out and really make the most of your party. -If you're tired of throwing or are waiting your turn, they have big yard games such as giant Connect 4, giant Jenga, and corn hole. I've been waiting for this place to open..b/c it looked like a super fun activity to bring friends to. So, that's what I did during their free opening weekend last Saturday! Staff is super helpful and gives you tips and confidence before you throw. I know they are still working on their alcohol license, but when you think about it...alcohol and axe throwing could be a dangerous combo (obviously), so they're gonna need a drink minimum there. Only thing off during my time was that the water fountains weren't working, and since you're technically breaking a lil' sweat, the water fountain should at least be working. This place is set up as BYOB, so until they get the alcohol bit sorted, you will need to walk a block away to the 7-11 to hydrate. Maybe they can consider getting a food truck or something in the back of the building if there is space -for visitors to access, but if they want people to stay more than 2hrs, or to actually be a chill out spot, they've gotta find a food option, put in snack machines? Or something. Otherwise, lose $. Overall, i'd definitely be back. Just work out the kinks! read more
