This is probably the best middle eastern restaurant that I have went too, there service is great, the food is even better, and lastly the environment make you feel like you are actually dinning in the Middle East! I absolutely LOVE this place!!! Hummus and that garlic sauce are THE BEST! The only thing I would add is a brick oven to make the puffy warm bread like the other place..lol, however, the rest of the menu rice almond salad, fattoush, boneless chicken dinner with saffron rice, vegetarian platter, grape leaves and more it's all--YUM! My husband and I decided to pick up takeout yesterday from Badawest. I've been patronizing this establishment for over 15 years. I was unaware the restaurant was under new management. I ordered chicken gallaba and it was the worst gallaba I've ever had. The chicken was hard like they cooked and smashed it to get it done quickly. The hummus was horrible as well as the Toum (garlic). The new owner has also increased their prices even though the staff denied it when I inquired. We spent $53 on gallaba, toum, hummus and a fattoush salad! The waitstaff did a lot of scratching and clothes adjustment on themselves which bothered me as I'm slightly OCD. I will not ever go there again and if you think you're getting the same food you're not stay away and keep your money! read more

I am about to write very very fondly of Badawest. This restaurant is not only one of the best Middle Eastern places I've been to, it is also very nostalgic for me. Badawest can be likened to that ex boyfriend that you actually might consider going back with. This place was my FIRST experience with Middle Eastern food. I had a hippy friend Charles that brought me there just months after my senior year in high school. He taught me the best things to order, educated me on ingredients and introduced me to the thick black sludge of Turkish coffee. Even though the restaurant has moved a few paces over, nothing has changed over the years. The hummus is creamy and delicious. The falafel is perfection. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside - the sandwiches have generous portions of tahini sauce ladled inside, lettuce and sliced pink beets. To keep mess in check, they're traditionally wrapped in thin wax paper. My friend Tom swears by the Sojok - a sandwich consisting of different types of spicy lamb sausage - "unbelievably good." Service is great. I make it a point now to eat here once a year when I'm home for the holidays. Badawest sets THE standard for good Middle Eastern. TRY IT. read more

I had high hopes since so many yelpers loved the place but was really disappointed. A basket of dry rather tasteless bread was put on our table with the menus and water and then we were ignored for at least 10 minutes. My son and I shared a combo plate. The lentil soup was great, the waiter brought out 1 bowl and dropped it off in front of my son and walked away. We got our food, chicken and ground beef shish was very good, steak was okay, 1 tiny lamb chop that was overcooked and inedible. The rice was not very good, no seasoning and dry. Eat here 1-2 times a month. 3.5 stars/not 4. 1.29.12. Take home, picked up on the 28th. Hummus and tabooli are the best in town so that's what we ordered. Repackaged in tight containers that evening, both were great the next day. Tabooleh (tabooli) was very good with a nice balance of oil, lemon, tomato, and mint. Just enough coarse bulger to give it texture. Hummus was smooth and nutty. Badawest bread is not so good, so we bought bread at the Bread Basket down the street, along with Feta and Labne. Perfect weekend meal. Counter staff was fine this time. On two other recent occasions (one table side/one counter), waitresses were vocally unhappy with the owner. I was shocked and appalled when an employee at the cash register complained that the owner was always watching over her like she was going to steal. By the way, we first started going to Badawest about 18 years ago when they first opened in JoJo Plaza. Ownership has remained unchanged. If staff attitudes/management mismanagement (?) issues happens a third time, I'll talk to the owner, down grade my rating here, and give all my business to Taboon. P.S. Last time, they forgot one of our sandwich orders - we were only 6 people. They didn't even apologize. still my favorite place for lamb swarma sandwiches. However, a few things have changed over the last 15 years I have been going there. The staff is not as prompt. The doors to the bathrooms and bathroom walls need a really good scrubbing. I saw a busy gal leave the bathroom stall on the phone as I entered and she never did wash her hands. Yep it grossed me out. Dont forget your bottle of greek dressing to go home with. It is the best. I would like to suggest that they run a luncheon special that is under ten dollars. Based in my first visit to Badawest, i will definitely be back. The place is a little bit run down, but i still liked the lebanese themed wall art and music playing. The food was great, we tried the lamb combo n shawerma platter. I especially liked the tabooleh which 1 portion was huge n enough to share easily, and the garlic dip which was perfection.
