A recent takeout order consisted of the koshary and the tomato kibbee. First off, the bread included with the order leaves a lot to be desired as it was dry and bland. Fortunately, the toum was good enough to make the bread edible. The koshary was well prepared and tasty but needed a bit more sauce and fried onion. The tabbouli was good but soggy because there was too much liquid in the bottom of the container. The tomato kibbee was very good but it was definitely not worth $14.99 for the amount we received. It looked like such a small amount in the container that I weighed it on my kitchen scale. $14.99 for 12.3 ounces is not a good deal. That equates to $19.50 per pound for bulghur, tomato, green onion, a bit of spice, and one Kalamata olive. read more

It has become a favorite and a staple in town for me. I have always ordered the Chicken Shawarma plate with two sides (rice pilaf and french fries), and I am happy every time with it. It can seem pricey (averaging $20+) for the meal, but it definitely has enough for 2 portions / meals. The french fries are the perfect amount of crisp, and the rice is a nice side to eat with the chicken. They always give you a small bag of pita bread with a garlic spread to go with. You are bound to be full after your meal and have leftovers. Ordering is simply - order on the phone or on the website. It takes about 20 minutes or so. Easy pick up as well. I usually get a carry out, food is typically pretty good and service George provides is always very friendly. I always get the deboned chicken all white meat with grilled veggies and rice, and an order of pita bread with a 12oz or garlic. I have been very bummed the last few times because the garlic has been split and EXTREMELY oily which over powers the garlic taste and makes my whole meal very bland and unpleasant. Mixing does not help and instantly splits again. Hopefully this can be resolved cause I really enjoy eating here especially when I want a decent meal without having to cook. read more

I took a large carry-out of good variety from La Marsa to a mid-day gathering with friends in a private home. The food was so delicious and well-received that what the individual could not finish, he or she clamored to take it home. The couple who hosted our get-together then made me leave the balance of the food with them. They said the LA Marsa food was sooo delicious. Everyone was shockingly and gleefully surprised because they never eat Lebanese food, and I love LA Marsa in Fenton. There is something for everyone on their menu. I can say that I happily left empty-handed. The 2 orders of freshly-made warm pita bread were so eagerly received that some keto diets went on hiatus that afternoon...LoL. Mohammed graciously carried my 2 large full totes to my waiting car just outside at the curb in 7-degree weather. What a great guy! I am never disappointed in the food from LA Marsa, and always love to surprise my friends & family with an appetizer, wrap, or meal from LA Marsa. The waitress was very kind. Katie: I got the rice pilaf salad which is essentially a fattoush salad with a side of rice and almonds. I also got a side of chicken shawarma which was a very large portion. All of my food was super flavorful - the salad tasted super fresh, the bread came out warm and fluffy, and I have no complaints. I think if it was in the Bay Area, CA, I would lower the rating a star. The food was super salty, and the flavors never really balanced out. But our server was a riot. She explained all the menu items to my friends who were unfamiliar with Mediterranean cuisine, and did a wonderful job. It's Mediterranean Michigan style. Love their food. I've only ever gotten carry out, staff is always nice and prompt. Never had a food error. From basic hummus and grape leaves to more complex dishes, their flavors are spot on. Love their lamb that they use for their entree dishes. Better than most filet I've had and the grilled carrots are phenomenal as well. Their Syrian rice is so fluffy! Our area needs more diverse food options like La Marsa, not more pizza places or bar food. If you love garlicky, flavorful food, give it a shot. I promise you'll have a happy mouth! read more

3/12- Food is amazing no matter what. Here for an event which was held in their special side room. WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE for this small soace. I had to hold my plate on my lap away from the table to eat. Service rocked it, despite the close quarters. Oh boy. So many amazing things here. The super friendly host (George), the cool chandeliers, the middle eastern pop music, the wait staff,(Jason rocks!) Most of all the food! All the Lebanese dishes you'd expect done exceptionally well. The fresh baked bread, the garlic sauce, the hummous, (they give a little free to first timers!) My shawarma was awesome. I just ordered on door dash. I ordered 2 separate orders of humus and got one humus. I called and they said "we combined the order". I did ask for a combined order, I asked for 2 separate orders. When I called to let them know that the Oder was wrong and that the one order of humus was definitely not a "combined " order, they said sorry. We went to La Marsa for the first time last night. All I can say is wow! The service was friendly and so helpful from the second we walked in to place our order. We took the recommendation and the deboned lemon oregano chicken did not disappoint. It had so much flavor. Then you mix in the rice with almonds, the garlic sauce and the hot fresh bread and it's just a knock out. We ordered the dinner for four and it was a perfect amount for 4 with some leftover to enjoy today. They are closed to indoor dining right now for remodeling but after talking with someone there they are going to be trying a new concept that is more like a market style. I really love the idea and can't wait to bring some friends to enjoy this place. If you are looking to add some brightness on these blah winter days give this spot a try. read more

We were traveling from MD. We wanted Lebanese food and this place did not disappoint. My hubby got the lamb and chicken kabobs. On the menu, it was lamb or chicken and the chef was able to make one and one for the same price. My daughter got the chicken shawarma, it had a delicious sauce and some picked with it. We tried the falafel and they where fried but still moist inside. We had an appetizer of vegetarian grape leaves. They were served warm with a lemon wedge. The owner/manager was kind, helpful and accommodating. They were hit hard during the pandemic so if you are looking for good food this is your place. Really good sized portions, I always get two meals out of it :) The spicy hummus Is really good as well. Appetizer portion is quite small. It's absolutely wonderful to see that La Marsa has finally arrived to the Flint/Grand Blanc/Holly/Fenton areas! I've been to quite a few of the La Marsa's further south in Troy, Bloomfield Township, Farmington Hills and have had wonderful experiences. Some are more consistent than others, but overall, the quality of food and experience is good. Husband and I along with a friend of ours came here on a Thursday night close to 8:30pm, and although it was close to closing time, the staff did a great job in taking our orders and getting our food. The wait for the food was a little longer than usual (at around 25 minutes), but they notified us and that was much appreciated. I went with the Shish Tawook Classic with rice and crushed lentil soup ($16.99), and Husband went with the Meat Shawarma Plate with fries and crushed lentil soup ($17.99). Both were VERY generous in portions, and the flavors were so good. My Shish Tawook came with 2 skewers of 6 marinated chicken breasts pieces which were very good. Great moisture along with a snappy grilled exterior, and paired with the toum elevated the flavors of the spice mixture. I particularly enjoyed the rice too because it was light and fluffy, and not greasy to the least bit. Husband at one point was devouring it that I had to ask him to save some for me! ;) His meat shawarma plate was equally as fragrant and refreshing. The beef and lamb meat mixture was fresh and the spices shone through wonderfully, but the meat could have been sliced a little more thinly so that the texture wasn't so uniform. However, for the quantity, the value was undeniably good. Fries were fresh and hot, just the way we like them. Like Husband's attachment to the rice, I had a hard time not wanting to eat all the fries in one sitting. ;) The baba ghannoush was delightfully smoky and smooth, but my only qualm about it was that I wish it was a little less strong in tahini flavor. It took away some of the flavor notes of the eggplant. Another thing to keep in mind that when you arrive, you're given freshly baked oven bread with their addictive toum (garlic sauce). You can get full off of this alone, so be careful, or you won't make a dent in your entree! The staff will happily oblige to your requests for more bread and garlic sauce, so don't hesitate to ask. In fact, when we were packing up our food, we requested additional bread and garlic sauce, and they gave us a full bag of them. We walked out with full tummies and equally as full leftovers. We are both so happy that Najar and his team have been able to expand all the way up here, and we will happily return for future visits. read more

It does the job but it's not true, metro Detroit made middle eastern food. They could do better with the ingredients, proper type of pickles in the chicken shawarma sandwiches and salads. Just seems like they don't care about authenticity since their main clientele are white, Christian people that haven't really experienced ethnic food before. They don't know the difference, so they can get away with mediocre recipes. Which is a bummer since this town desperately needs some true diversity. Badly. Like ASAP. In every way! read more

Wow. We were traveling north through Michigan and wanted to stop for lunch and we are SO glad we found this place! It's only about 3 minutes off the highway too. Since it was our first time, we got some hommous and lemon garlic stuff with warm bread. Both were to good and creamy and so flavorful! I liked mixing a little of each. The hubs and I each got side salads which were good for salads. Then we split a meat shawarma and koshary. WOW WOW WOW! The meat on the shawarma was flavored so nicely-- you could taste the depth and time put into it. And the koshary-- I'm going to need to find some of that home in Cincinnati. I will dream of that flavor forever. We finished off the meal with two types of delicious baklava. Some of the best I have had. Very disappointed with this particular La Marsa as I routinely go to the Bloomfield Hills location and think they do a fine job. I went just before noon and was told I could dine in, but I had to go up to the register and order and then they would bring me everything as a carry out and then I would have to unpack it if I was going to dine there. The Bloomfield Hills location serves you normally. I was brought water, but never was asked if I needed anymore. I ordered hummus but no pita bread was provided. My main entree took easily twenty minutes to arrive. I had left a large tip at the counter and I wish I hadn't. Had to ask for a bag to carry my leftovers out. No thanks for coming as I was leaving. Quickly on the way to becoming one of my new favorite restaurants. So far, La Marsa has not let me down. Everything I've tried, I've liked immensely. The food is some of the most flavorful and creative Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food I've had in a long time. Unlike a few other tried and true standby Middle Eastern favorites that I tended to stick with for years, it has not let me down at all. Nowadays, I feel like La Marsa is the one of the best, if not the best spot, for Middle Eastern food in the area, particularly combining it with their usual good service and healthy portions. I tried the vegetarian combo and it was delicious. I consider it a reliable, "fool proof" option to order for any vegetarian, getting it again and again myself. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat. It's a good-sized combo platter to share if your table mate is on the same page about going vegetarian. Honestly, I'm glad that I gave their crushed lentil soup a go. It was excellent, heads and shoulders above most other restaurants that I've tried. Everything about it, from texture to flavor and seasoning, was top notch. I've truly been disappointed with different lentil soup recipes in the past, so this was a nice surprise. The cucumber salad was decent, too, but nothing terribly epic. I did like the yogurt that came with it, though. The vegetarian grape leaves were pretty good, very solid with a nice flavor profile and perfect seasoning. Overall, the food has been consistently good and not all over the map. As for the service, it was courteous and prompt. The place seems to be humming along in regards to service. I have no complaints there. The price point is on par with the Fenton area. read more
