First let me say I was here in the Fall and the food was amazing. We should have been skeptical when there was only one car on the parking lot. The place is dirty and needs an exterminator ASAP!! We saw several cockroaches walk by on the ledge while we were waiting for our food. Our server saw me try to capture/kill one with my napkin and eventually stomp on it. She came over and said - I saw you kill a bug would you like to move to a different table. She explained they have been seeing bugs recently due to the warmer weather. But insisted they were butterflies. Ummm NO! We should have just left then, but our food was on the way and we moved tables. (I did see a 3rd one to prompt the move). The food was mediocre at best. Went to the flint location at 1 pm today- first visit! Will be my last. I was told 15minutes for my take out! Took 45min. Lady next to me waited 1 hr!! I asked about my order and said if it's not ready then just cancel it! Cook got a lil loud and proceeded to yell at the waitress- this was NOT her fault! My chicken was burnt, rice was hard! Taboon is under new management and the restaurant is so clean and nicely decorated. The meal was one of the best meals I've had in a while at a restaurant. My daughter and I ordered the same thing and we had the Shish Tawook with rice and almonds and a Fattoosh salad.. The bread had just come out of the oven. I loved the hummus and garlic butter. OK, huge caveat; if you like lemon, you'll love this place. If you're not a huge lemon fan, move along. I'm a semi-lemon fan and it was a little too much for me. Yallllll. Ok the food was great. I mean it's like pretty much the same for any chain you go to. But the service was....so......so slow. And not in anyway organized. There were like maybe 5 tables of people in this huge restaurant so it looked pretty empty and yet it was taking forever to get our food. We were there like an hour and a half and had to leave so we ended up having to take our food to go. I was so sad cause I had made a reservation days beforehand too. Super clean and friendly staff !! The owner is amazinggggg. The food was fantastic, taste was impeccable and could tell they use clean ingredients. I loved the rice with nuts on top. I stopped over to pick up dinner as I was traveling to Midland hadn't been to the new place. It was a takeout order. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the place when I walked in. They look very nice inside with the oven for homemade bread. order chicken Shawarma dinner yellow rice salad with two extra garlic spread. When I made it to the hotel to eat it, the chicken was cut up in lumps. Definitely not off a spiral Spicket no flavor in the meat no flavor in the rice and they forgot my two extra garlic spread. Only thing I would go back for is bread and garlic spread and a salad other than that, I will stick to Dearborn very disappointing. read more

I'm Lebanese. This isn't. They need to season things more - first off, it's a bit bland of a representation of Lebanese food. No salt, very light seasonings. Fatoush had no mint and no salt and no seasonings that would indicate it is fatoush. Grilled chicken had no flavor and was burnt. In a real recipe you need lemon, olive oil, parsley, garlic, and maybe more spices... the chicken was put on a grill without enough of anything. At least offer us a bowl of a dip for it- it is losing you customers probably. The lamb in the grape leaves tastes canned... start fresh next time. The grilled veggies are hard and raw. But I think if they listen to some feedback they can get things together better. I don't mean to be mean, but I give honest reviews. I'm visiting the area. read more

DELICIOUS! This place is fantastic. Authentic food, amazing service and great prices. I visited for lunch and ordered the mixed grilled combo for two. Not only was it ready in less than 20 minutes, but it was absolutely fantastic and filled to the brim with delicious food and all of the wonderful sauces and sides to make it even better. The icing on the cake was the service that I received. The gentleman at the counter provided amazing service not only on the phone and taking my order but also while I picked up the food. We were seated pretty quickly and the dining area was clean n well decorated.Our server unfortunately on the other hand we found to be a little disturbing to us that she kept going outside to light a cigarette and sit in the car visiting with someone she knew and when I tell you it was more than six times I'm not even exaggerating!Normally it would not bother us but when we didn't have silverware and no napkins and no refills till it was time to go I think that experience took away from the whole experience. read more

This is only about the service this time as I did not get to eat here. To keep it simple, I placed a to-go order for an entree and stated no mushrooms. I went to pick up the order and I was told it was made with mushrooms and asked if that was okay. Of course it was not okay, since I ordered it without. I was told it could be remade and would take less time than the original order. I declined and asked for a refund. I did not want a rush job on my food. Further, one of the servers was using her bare hands to put bread in the oven. Servers touch a lot of things, dirty dishes and napkins, credit cards, cash (possibly) , etc. There is no way they should be handling food without gloves. Ok let me start off with this. Walk in the restaurant, party of who knows, 40 or so in large dining area and very noisy. Small kids running around screaming and being disruptive. We sit down to join other couple already there waiting, it was supposed a birthday celebration dinner. Waitress comes over takes drink order, disappears then comes back several minutes later, repeat this for entree ordering as well. The large party clears out, now they move, drag tables around for next party setup...bring in a large DJ speaker and turn on explicit hip hop music very loud that we could not talk. Should of called the place a nightclub. Very disrespectful. Needless to say, food and service was horrible atmosphere and cleanliness was worse.. Never going back and suggest you don't either. Visited Michigan and came back here, still so good. My only thing is that the plate size is so big that if you do finish it's not such a great feeling anymore. One gets to full. My latest was the vegetarian dinner plate. Wow! It's $26 but it can fed 2-3 people, all the food that you see in the pic below is included (there's also hummus that didn't fit into the pic and a salad that for .75 cents I changed tabouli for fattush and the closest plate to the bottom is my personal plate that I got from the from taking little bit of everything). The food is either amazing or terrible depending on whether the owner & manager are in the kitchen doing quality control. Today, the owner and manager were in the kitchen due to a staff shortage, and the food was AMAZING! The falafel was crispy yet moist, the lentil soup was flavorful & an enticing vibrant orange color, the salad had flavor-packed ripe red tomatoes, the spinach pies were amazing, the hummus was to die for -- everything was perfect and unbelievably tasty. Likewise, about 15-20 years ago, the food here used to be regularly excellent. Back then the owner kept close tabs on the place. Then maybe about 13 years ago, Taboon opened up a Grand Blanc location, and the owner seemingly stopped doing quality control in Flint. Almost overnight the food at the Flint location became terrible. Since then, we've been able to reliably count on the lentil soup being pale and bland; the falafel being unappetizingly dry; vegetables being burned; and the mjaddra being some combination of dry, tasteless, and/or rancid. As a result, we tend to come here only when our preferred option is closed, as it's one of the few restaurants in town with vegan options. HOWEVER, today the owner and manager proved that when they do quality control, the food is excellent! If they keep it up, Taboon will once again be a family favorite. read more

Just wondering if anyone takes pride in their job or customer service any more. Ordered take out. An appetizer of humus and salad. Waited 20 minutes before someone acknowledged me then drove 49 minutes home to find out I had 3 small - I mean small pieces of hard as a rock bread. In fact it looks like these pieces were suppose to be thrown out. Called to speak with a manager. His solution was for me to drive 49 minutes back for 3 different pieces. No apology nothing at all. I take out at least 5 times a month from this place. Guess what? You just lost a great customer. Maybe with this review you will think twice about your establishment training on how to treat a customer! read more

My, how things have changed! We patronized Taboon at the Genesee Valley Mall for years (decades?). The food was superb, and the bread (taboon) came warm to the table and was baked before your eyes. The family that owned it then sold... The only thing that is similar at the new location on Linden Rd. is the name. The food is, to be nice, variable in quality. The bread is cold and unremarkable. The hummus you get in a grocery store is better. The lentil soup was tasteless and watery. This evening I waited 15 minutes for a take out order that I'd called in 45 minutes earlier. There were only four tables filled in the place, so I don't know what the staff was doing in the kitchen. The place reeks of indifference. Go somewhere else. You'll be happier. read more

i get the chicken ghallaba dinner. i have gotten it over five times in hopes that it will taste better and it doesnt. The chicken is too big of chunks. Also the carrots are cut too big and never are done/cooked all the way. It lacks flavor. the rice is also very mushy. barely any almonds in the rice. the salad is also very sad. My cucumbers were not fresh and left a bad taste to the salad. it the salad is basically dried up lettuce. i dont not like how they put the containers of the salad dressing inside the box laying on top of the salad. the bread was stale. i def like the one in grand blanc better sucks because i live on that side of town only ten mins away. i dont want to drive all the way out there just to get a better tasting dinner with the same . but i will .. read more

Im not a huge lebanese/middle eastern food fan, but my husband is. We came in with a cranky one year old who I was nervous I would find something he would like. The chicken noodle soup (not your standard, it had nutmeg and cinnamon and was more tomato based) was a hit, but even more so he loved the lentil soup. Full of flavor and great texture. I ordered a salad which was huge, the meat was great. My husband had a platter: best part? Great service, quickly food was out, and that means EVERYTHING when your on a time limit with a child. Chalk up another win for Flint in terms of better than average Middle Eastern cuisine. Yes, I would say this is pretty authentic Middle Eastern food. It's up there with Badawest on a lot of different levels. Terrific hummus. The bread with garlic dip is a must. It's pretty addictive. I could nibble on that all night long. Pretty decent falafel, though I prefer Badawest's a tad. Good size portions. I always go home with some leftovers, which always taste pretty good the next day. I ordered a shawarma which was inedible because of the grease and how salty it was as well as a shish tawook sandwich with tabbouli with was also dripping in grease and inedible. Good decent Lebanese style food. Great fresh baked pita bread cooked in a wood burning oven. They even give you a bag to take home with you. The garlic spread is so loaded with garlic that you have to sleep on the couch after you eat it. The stuffed grape leaves were bordering on nasty, and were barely edible. Every region of the Middle East makes them differently, but I have never tasted stuffed grapes leaves like these before. Besides the somewhat dirty interior and grimy tables the grape leaves are about the only things to complain about. We ordered the mixed grill for two, it was more than enough for three people with leftovers. This restaurant suffers from the same malady as a lot of Middle Eastern style restaurants, when it comes to cleanliness they replicate a third world experience a little too well. What I mean by this is that the restaurant isn't exactly spotlessly clean. Filthy carpets, grimy tables, dirty tableware, bizarre decorations, dirty bathrooms, parking lots that are full of potholes, trash filled landscaping, and a building that is falling apart from lack of maintenance are not unusual. So, if you want Middle Eastern food, you have to look past all of the "warts" and carry on with your quest, this place is no exception. The oddest thing was that our waitress was obviously from the Ukraine or some other Eastern European country, but definitely not anywhere in the Middle East. read more
