I accompanied my aunt to an appointment with Dr Badin, and she prepped me by saying that he spends a lot of time looking at his computer, and that the appointments take a long time. She had been going to him for many years. NOTHING would have prepared me for this experience!!! There were no other patients in the waiting room (nor in fact in the rest of the office for the entirety of our visit, which took nearly TWO hours). Dr Badin appeard slightly disheveled, which I would have accepted if he seemed even the slightest bit competent. He spent the entire visit looking at his computer and slowly scrolling the mouse without even looking up. He gave her the results of a CT scan (taken the previous week), and his conclusion was faulty. When I pointed that out to him he said "good point", but continued to refer to that issue as the cause of her symptoms. He did not ask her any questions, and did not examine her, except to listen to her chest for less than 1 second front and back, and take her blood pressure. Her blood pressure was high (as it was the previous week, when we inquired), though he failed to discuss that with her, and it turns out she'd run out of her medication before the previous visit! What sort of a primary care physician gets a significantly high BP reading without questioning her about her meds?? You might wonder how an appointment can take one hour and fifty minutes, with the doctor in the room for the entire time, and somehow not end up with a history or an examination--the answer is that the man spends a LONG LONG time looking at his computer. Eventually he tried to dictate a letter to the specialist he was going to refer her to (he had to switch the type of specialist referral once I pointed out that he was wrong about the CT scan), but he really couldn't dictate a letter because he had nothing to tell the specialist (having not gathered any information via a history or physical exam). In the end, he took her hand and prayed with her. I've seen this mentioned by other people in their reviews (some positive, some negative). My aunt didn't object to the praying, but I found it unusual. Again, I wouldn't have objected to praying with a consensual adult, if he was even the slightest bit competent. At one point during our LONG visit, the receptionist came in with the phone (a landline on a loooonnng cord), and asked if he wanted to sort out the arrangements for another patient. He took the phone and discussed that patient in front of us (using first and last names), in order to specifically arrange that patient's transit from a nursing home to an appointment with a specialist several weeks in the future. That was certainly a HIPPA violation, but also seemed like something that another member of the staff might have managed, since the receptionist, a medical assistant, and a third staff member were working in the office, without any other patients. When we left his office I called my primary care physician's office and got her an appointment the following week. Now that she's seen him she realizes how little she was getting from Dr Badin, and she understands what it means to be in good hands. When we got home I looked up his license etc, and realized that he'll need to renew his boards in Feb 2020. I can't imagine him passing those, so the community will be safer then. Dr. Thomas was amazing, that I can not argue. But extremely upset 2 months later after my 2 visits. I got a charge for lab work. I was never notified that lab work is extra costs that they do not account for. First visit they changed me $184 and the very next day I was suppose to go in for "follow up" to go over the lab results and they charged me $80!!! Not once did I get an itemized receipt and now that I called them they explained to me that they charged me for "lab supplies"... that is honestly super unprofessional for not explaining everything to me. They also said they will now send me an itemized receipt. I was given no medicine, or particular treatment, so the charges here are crazy!! I was told that I don't owe them anything as I had paid for all lab work and first time visit fees and other charges up front. read more

This is my experience showed up for apt dr office is old like pra same office he had when he started medicine in 1984 the office looks like something from the 70's, needs massive facelift, dr was late seeing me at my appointment, then spoke with tech support for about 45 minutes with me in the room, after he got off phone it was business as usual no apology, he did my physical and then I asked him about a medical issue with the door closed with the door open he spoke about my medical issue so anyone in the hallway could hear, he also got concerned cause I had a high pulse I run 3-4 times a weak and my Apple Watch never has high pulse he wanted to refer me to a cardiologist for no other reason, it's called white coat syndrome. He got my lab results back and called me the medical assistant spoke with me and was rude and had a you will attitude. Needless to say I heard a quote from another doctor saying "if you don't agree with your doctors treatment plan you should look for another doctor" I think he is way to old school medicine for me. I have found treatments online and with specialist that I agree with more. He did pray for me when I left that was cool. But can not excuse rudeness, ignoring, old office, and old school medicine. read more

A few weeks ago I developed the worst cough of my life and got very worried that I would develop pneumonia. After a few days of sleepless nights and aching ribs I finally went to the closest doctor's office I could find and it was a total God send. Dr. Badin relieved me from the worried thoughts of pneumonia or the coronavirus, it was just my first experience with bronchitis and gave me medication that helped immediately. Theres good and bad out there, but i think i have found the worst!!!! No bedside manner whatsoever. Honestly, Dr Badin is plain RUDE! With elderly patients he does not ever act like they are in the room. as he talks to his computer so he doesn't have to listen to you or answer all of your questions. Knows nothing of healing. And make sure you stay addicted to your prescriptions (they pay him good for that!) Complaining of many pains, he told my aunt there was nothing he could do and stabbed his finger pushing the points until she doubled over in pain. Well I found something to do about that. I researched Natural topical rubs and drawing savs and have solved the pain, drinking extra water and changes in diet was all she needed. But he doesn't make money off that so... come back next time to give him another copay and have him make up fake illnesses. read more

Dr. Badin has been extremely helpful for me. I was looking for a doctor who would actually see my health issues and develop a plan to improve my health. He has recommended me to two additional specialist doctors and together they all have worked to improve my health beyond what I thought was possible, mentally and physically. He is very intelligent and moves quickly in his office and helps you make appointments while you are there which has saved me a lot of time. Ultimately he has a fast and thorough approach towards getting you better and really actually cares. Before him, several doctors dismissed my health problems as stress and never gave me any ways to improve my physical being. I'm thankful I was connected with him and got an accurate diagnosis and multi-faceted recovery plan which does not involved pill pushing as other reviews have stated. He actually cares and does what you are comfortable with and if you have side effects or don't like taking meds you can be honest about that. I had a bad reaction to an injection for my neck pain and back pain and I have not had that injection since. And I even admit I'm just solving the rest of my health problems a bit more natural with good diet and exercise but it's great to have a good doctor to oversee your situation regardless. I always leave the office feeling a little bit better and more in control of my health. He has made this struggle of lessening pain and improving my physical health easier. Honestly finding a smart, good doctor that is companionate at the same time AND doesn't want to get rid of you these days is VERY rare! Is there a wait time? I have known Thomas Badin, M.D. for over 20 plus years. I know Him thru my Church, a very well known Non-Denominational Church in Irvine. Many, many people I know from there...have gone to see Dr. Badin for normal, routine, and Emergency Needs over the years. While in a critical need to have a pre-op examination & w/ little time to work with, I was referred to Dr. Badin and his staff for support. Even with all the in-going COVID19 related issues, Dr. Badin found time to fit me in his schedule & assist with a need my own PCP was unable to accommodate. When I walked in the door, the staff was on the ball, moving me through all the necessary paperwork with efficiency and wasting no time. My wait time was little to none! From the front counter to the PA, all were pleasant, friendly, and pleasant to deal with. Remember I am preparing for a surgery I am not too excited to be here or in this position. they helped by keeping things simple & pleasant. After going through the general examination, EKG, blood/urine, history, etc. is when I got to move forward & actually be seen by Dr. Badin. My immediate impression was experience & a man rather serious in his approach to individual care & health. At first, he wa all about taking care of the business, reviewing test results and comparing. He spent another good 30 solid minutes breaking down my background and health history as it should be done, focused on details yet very respectful & w/ caution ensuring we covered all the bases so that when I go under for surgery, my surgeons know every bit of details relating to my health so they too can provide the best possible care w/ accuracy and a detailed medical background to reference. The very pleasant surprise was how personable, friendly, and very observant Dr. Badin was. Not a requirement on my part, but by the end of my visit, I felt comfortable enough that I found myself openly sharing my personal & family info, unrelated to the pre-op examination. He has a smile that is warm and engaging, he has a way of recognize and easing tension with simple, fun humor. More importantly, what I did not share w/ him, he figured on his own and that is how very hard I work at overcoming my disabilities. I never said a word and he in a very professional manner told me how proud he was of the strides my wife and I take to make our lives work & things happen for us. Dr. Badin nearly killed me with his pill pushing, over medicating ways. I was passing out 2 to 5 times a week and going to see him and he couldn't get a grip on his error for 4 months. I suffered 4 fractured vertabrae, 3 cracked ribs and a massive infection in my arm that needed 9 IV injections, as well as a 2 inch cut in the back of my head from waking up in a pool of my own blood. I also spent 3 days in the hospital from my injuries that he caused. He finally said "you don't need that much prescription" after prescribing it for years ! He has admitted that he has an attachment disorder that makes him unable to feel anything for people. His stiff and monotone manner is the worst.. Also,his praying during an exam is creepy to say the least. Find someone else like I did. read more

AVOID DR. BADIN AT ALL COST!!! Went with my husband here because his office is located close by us and he was listed on our insurance website. My husband was having severe anxiety and high blood pressure related to hyperthyroidism which was not yet diagnosed at the time. His mom and brother have it as well so he had done some research and specifically wanted to be tested for it. Dr. Badin reluctantly had blood work done for the thyroid. He told my husband: "Seems like you have done TOO much research", "You can trust me, I am your uncle now", as well as prayed to Jesus more than once for my husband's healing which in a way was a nice gesture but also completely inappropriate under the circumstances. He misdiagnosed my husband with general anxiety disorder and prescribed multiple harmful drugs before blood tests even came back. He also let us wait for 1.5 hours before being seen, well knowing about the high blood pressure, pulse, and anxiety levels. He called my husband THREE times within two days to pray for him and to ask the same questions again and again while my husband was desperately trying to get off the phone with him. Honestly, I am convinced that Dr. Badin is self medicating on something that is seriously messing up his mind. He seems completely out of it and loopy. SCARY that he is taking care of other people's health. Oh, and after my husband specifically told him about his gluten allergies, Dr. Badin handed him a diabetes drink "to feel better" with an ingredient list full of gluten. He was also eating Taco Bell while seeing us. Well done doctor! - did you even hear a word we said or were you too busy eating your fast food lunch? On top of it, his office is very dirty. Moldy water dispenser, dusty shelves, filthy floors, disgusting bathroom.... Overall a completely horrible experience. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!! read more

He seemed really "not present" while I was there. I agree with the underlying sentiment here on yelp that he's a pill pusher. He put me on high blood pressure meds- I was able to later solve it with diet and lifestyle changes under the care of another doctor, who I luckily switched to because Badin gave me a bad vibe right off the bat. He may be ok for some people, but I'm especially discerning and critical of doctors because I feel like my life is in their hands, and it's hard for me to relinquish that kind of control to just anybody. Dr. Baden has seen my husband for each of his pre-ops. Reading the reviews, I'm frankly saddened at some of them. Dr. Baden is perhaps one of the most caring doctors I've ever come across. He prayed with us before each of my husbands surgeries and I appreciated that so much. I think the low reviews are probably people who are rubbed the wrong way with his Christianity. I found it warm and calming. In lieu of prescription drugs, he recommended over the counter supplements for my husband, which we tried and they worked well. I would highly recommend him!
