STAY AT Extended Stay America Instead, 3101 NORTH STATE ST Ukiah CA 95482 Save yourself the misery. How would I rate my experience. Does the name BATES MOTEL and PSYCHO ring a bell My experience was very bad, very bad. I am writing this because I wish to let people know how bad this experience was for me personally and I want to save them from the same experience. I think, this is only the second Yelp review I've ever done. Before I continue, please note that this establishment only has 2 stars on Yelp. It would have 1 star if there was a selection for 0 ( Big Zero) Forget Trip Advisor. The first 1 star review starts by saying " The owner Bob was very unwelcoming ." It goes on to talk about his homophobic values.." I agree by his behavior, that is one of his issues. I'm a straight, heterosexual male, who has a physical disability and he was just as rude to me. I can make my case all day, but when this establishment responds they will place the blame fully on me, and refuse to accept any responsibility for the owners actions. Here is what happened to me. This business the Baechtel Creek Inn posts on it's website a 3pm check in and they are dog friendly. I arrived 10 minutes early at 2:50 and was told by the nice lady at the desk to come back at 3:30. As I was leaving I saw what I thought was a worker but it turned out to be " Bob ". I waved at him as I was leaving the parking lot with my wife and dog. He did not wave back, just gave me an unfriendly look. When I returned at 3:30, the office was locked, and it was 90 degrees outside. I am disabled, so I was looking for a place to sit. I saw an inviting place in the shade under some redwood, with 4 chairs. But, I couldn't sit down because they were covered in bird shit. Next, Bob sees me from about 40 ft away and just barks at me. He says, " Are you staying here. Your dog can't stay here, it's too big!! It will scare customers. " I walked over to Bob with my kind old dog who is about 90lbs. I said that I didn't see anything on the website about a weight limit and that my dog wouldn't scare people, I would keep her away from the other guests. " I asked, so can we stay here, and Bob responded, " We'll see. Maybe. I'll decide whether you stay. I'm the owner. " Right then, I realized there was no reasoning with Bob. Bob wants control over other peoples lives. Bob wants to take control of my vacation and determine the outcome. It was then that I told Bob that I didn't want to stay there anymore and that I was going to find another place. Bob must of taken offense at that and if he did, I'm glad. He became very angry and started yelling at me ordering me off his property. It was then that I told Bob to F### Off. When I told Bob to F-off , he became hostile and started thumbing his chest and Bob came at me saying, " Do you want to fight me? Do you want to fight me? " , but he never got within striking distance, he stayed away from me by about 10 ft yelling at me. MY answer to that question is " Yes, I want to fight you! Just not there on your property. It went down hill further because my car was ignition was left on for the air conditioning because it was so hot and then when I went to start my car, it wouldn't start. I had to wait 30 minutes for AAA to arrive to give my car a jump while Bob was yelling, " I'm going to call the Sheriff now and have you arrested. " Bob is a complete Ass#####. Please read all the one star reviews. They speak for themselves. How can anyone like Bob be in the hospitality business? On a happy note, we stayed at Extended Stay America. While standing amongst the redwoods, and the chairs covered in bird shit, I had booked a room with Extended Stay America in Ukiah. They were so friendly and nice and took good care of us. No problem with my beautiful dog. We made it to the Skunk Train the next day and it was a fantastic ride. The " Singing Conductor " was wonderful and I did a photo shoot and a video shoot of him. Also, my dog, is so well trained and good, all the kids were coming up and asking me if they could pet my beautiful dog. Of course it was okay. I guess Bob is the only one afraid of my dog. Kids aren't. But I suspect it wasn't about my dog. read more

Hands down the absolute worst customer service experience of my life. We were traveling here for business and we're staying three nights. We booked an ADA accessible room due to recent surgery I've had and listed my wife's service dog, not an ESA. We arrived early, paid the additional fee and checked in. I went to the room and laid down and my wife went into the office she's working out of while here. My wife returned a few hours later to check in an additional employee into his room that she had brought with her. She left her service animal in the car while she completed the paperwork. The owner, a very grumpy man, came in and started berating her over her service dog. His attitude was horrible and he was very combative in spite of her every attempt to de-escalate the situation. He kept yelling that he has the right to refuse service to anyone but had no reason to refuse a service and it would have been based on mine and her disabilities . The interaction left my wife completely frustrated and in tears . We were then removed from my ADA room and put into a room that was supposedly pet friendly. The room was dingy and vastly less comfortable and completely unacceptable for my needs. Their solution for removing me from the ADA room was to provide me with a dirty shower chair that would barely fit in the bathroom. Then after speaking with the lady behind the counter and explaining that it was not an ESA, but in fact an actual service dog, we were told we would not be charged. After my wife left the office, the owner then told the receptionist to charge us for a dog because we had two animals. He was completely delusional as we only had one and she was not a pet, she is a service animal. The gentleman's wife reversed the charges thankfully but I guarantee we will never stay here again. Believe the reviews this guy is every bit as bad as people say. read more

The owner Bob was unfortunately very unwelcoming, homophobic and pushed his values on us as we came in early to eat breakfast. We came with a toddler and I'm 7 months pregnant, we booked a room for the evening as we were on a long drive from SF. We checked out in the morning and I needed a restroom, and we were hoping to dip in the pool. The owner expressed "when it's 11am it's time to head out". There was no one else there. There was a younger woman who seems to have just started working there, she was very kind and apologetic. Oh and the phone was disconnected. Needless to say we won't be returning. read more

this is by far the most nasty ass hotel, bloody blankets, dog pee, blankets dirt all over the floor called Web spiders everywhere the floor is so dirty. You can see. I wiped the towel so you could see how dirty the floors are molded in the shower I would not recommend this to anyone. read more

The owner is an awful person. We checked in and almost immediately found the door deadbolt did not work. There are no privacy locks on the rooms here so beware. We asked the front desk to address this and they called Bob. Bob is the owner and quite a horrible person. He immediately began to show us how to use a door lock like we were idiots. When he finished his lesson, as he would not allow me to show him the actual issue, I showed him the deadbolt would not engage the strike plate on the door and thus, could not be locked. He told me that he couldn't fix it until the next day but would give us a ten dollar coupon at the restaurant across the street as compensation. My wife and I told him that was unacceptable as we had our children with us, including our special needs child. He did not care and told us we could either accept a room that could not be locked in any way or leave. We are in the middle of nowhere and had already paid for this room. We asked if we could be moved. He told us some band had booked all the other rooms and there where none available. He then said we could accept this or he would call the police. My children where now quite frightened by this man and where hiding int he bathroom. Our special needs son was sitting on the bed in his veiw and he could not care less about kicking us out. We argued with him a bit before we gabe in and packed up. He refused to refund our money saying he shouldn't have to put up with people like us as a war vet. This was particularly disgusting as my family is full of war vets who would never treat anyone like this. Absolutely disgusting how this guy acted. There are tons of similar reviews with similar stories about this guy, Bob, and his hotel or Inn or whatever he is trying to pass it off as. He should be put out of business on account of all the people he's ripped off. He refused to refund our money even though we weren't there for more than ten m minutes and he refused to be accommodating. Avoid this place at all costs. This guy's deserves to be in the gutter. Very beautiful place! Came here later in the evening and was able to get a room last minute. Bob was so sweet and attentive and So was Laura this morning when I checked out. She also made some recommendations for when I make it up to Oregon. in response to your response , the owner indeed knew that we were going to be guests staying there because he asked how long we would be there . and He did say that the dog could not be more than 40lbs . we were simply trying to find a shade spot to stand in while we were waiting (it was 90 degrees ) and that area with chairs by those trees was not clean and the chairs were covered in bird droppings so no one could actually sit there . I read other reviews (some worse than what I said ) . So we weren't the only ones who were disrespected in such a matter . This is not the way customers should be treated and you will lose a lot of business acting this way. read more

Called to make reservations and was told they dont allow families with children in the rooms. Never knew that was even a thing. I had to ask what is in the room that children cant be around... she just laughed and said they just dont allow children under 18 with or with out adults. read more

I drive from Oregon to Central California for work and this is one of my favorite places to stay. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. My room is quiet (its not right on the road!) and the setting is lovely. Have been at least ten times in the last year and always had a good experience! read more

stayed four nights at this hotel, what a bad decision. to start off the first room i stayed in # 126 the aircondition was so loud that i could not sleep ,the owner (bob) moved me to room a room upstairs this room the tub drain would not keep up with the shower but after moving rooms one time already i can deal with that .one thing i must say the other staff was great but bob had a excuse for everything (no coffee) for continental breakfast or cream, fruit and what was there was looking pretty sad/old . I asked bob why was breakfast was out so late in the morning. bob told me in a very angry voice that the workers drink all the coffee that stay at the hotel and leave early in the morning when the billing came into question on my last day. i asked bob for a statement of charges but was told that he would have to wait till the office staff would be in accouple hours and then i can get my invoice then . so i left to go home . back home i checked my bank and my cc was charged different amount for the last two days . so i called to correct the invoice, all in all talked to three different staff members and got different answers from you were in a dog room (i have no dog) to oh the hotel was booked up from a convention in town . ( parking lot mor than half empty) so i must say stay away from this place!!! read more

We needed a place to stay unexpectedly in Willits. We found the Inn At Baechtel Creek partially by word of mouth and partially by just searching. It was late at night (11 pm) and we rang the doorbell. Our wonderful experience began there with the owner who greeted us with a smile and a familial warmth. We got our room which was tasteful, practical and comfortable. Every day got better. We needed flexibility as we did not know how long we would be in town and Laura, Bob and Jan made us feel comfortable and helped us every step of the way. The grounds are clean and maintained, the pool and hot tub are inviting and intimate. Everyone there was so gracious and friendly - they really made our stay special. I recommend this spot highly if you are in Willits. Say hello to Bob for us!! read more
