Good food but rude staff. I was given attitude for calling back after I got disconnected while waiting on hold to place an order. I didn't even want to give my business after that. After almost getting hit in the parking lot, I finally entered the store. Looks like they did a great job remodeling the oooold Carter Drugs. All I wanted was to buy two bagels to try them. I was really surprised that a bagel store had so few bagels and hardly any variety. It took me 5 minutes to hunt someone down to place my order. I asked for 1/8# of salmon spread and it was placed in a container. There were no prices on the items. They did not give me a label on the spread. I do not know how much it weighed or if the tare was set correctly. The bagels were terrible, spread so-so and staff was not trained. I guess that they never heard of the 6 P's. Bagel Factory in Matawan has delicious bagels with a variety of bagel selections and cream cheese toppings. What I like the most is the everything bagel. There is a unique texture on the outer crust. It's like having a thin crust pizza. The staff is friendly and attentive to customers. The store is modern, spacious and clean. Plenty of parking and there is outdoor patio seating. I will start this off with the bagels are good. The food is tasty and probably some of the better bagels around in the area. However, if you're looking to order in a timely fashion , in an organized line or with some kind of organization to a line this is the wrong place. It's a cluster of where to order vs where to pay vs where you are in line after somebody else. They do very little to help you along in the process or point you in the right direction with any kind of signs or assistance. You basically have to look at one of the employees long enough until they realize you want to order some thing. When you walk in there's usually people standing around just as confused as you're about to be. Also, if you ask for some bagels in a separate bag because of an allergy you won't get it. Even if they say yes. Has happened twice now. I told them there was an allergy and it needed separate bags. They wrote it down and still didn't do it. They give you 3 free bagels with a dozen to sound like a deal but the price of the dozen bagels is the cost of what 15 should be. The bagels are good and tasty and I would still recommend this place for that, But be prepared to be there a while and to get a little frustrated in the process. If they just put some kind of sign up or even put like deli counter numbers up it would speed the process up a lot and make customers much happier. Ordered an expresso and croissant. Coffee was cold and the croissant was stale and cold as well. Also ordered chicken fingers which were bland and the presentation was nasty - lumped breaded chicken piled on top of soggy french fries. No type of side (i.e. claw slaw, potato salad, etc.) or the courtesy of a napkin. Physically drove to return the food and requested a refund. I have been there several times. 1st experience was in ordering three different breakfast sandwiches, went home to find out the order was wrong. Second experience, again breakfast sandwiches, order was right but the bagels were hard. Tried their lunch menu, husband had an Italian stallion i had an Italiano, which is a chicken breast with pesto on a panini, was very pleased. So, the following week ordered the same. Got home, started eating and it was very rubbery. I opened the panini to find out it was luncheon meat?!?! I called and asked if they changed and the cooked tried to tell me it wasn't luncheon meat that he cut the chicken very thinned. Needless to say I brought it back to show them, it was a kid at the register and the owner just sat at the table while i complain and said i don't like being lied to , you can't pawn off chicken luncheon meat as a breast of chicken and demanded my money back, all while the owner sat and never got up to apologize. That will and has been my last experience there. Shame because it is close but if you want quality, I'm back to my Bagel Time on Rt 79 where I have been going for years. I think this place is great! I'm there everyday and I feel like a valued customer. The place is beautifully done on the inside and the bagels are always fresh no matter what time I go in. Parking is rough sometimes but I wouldn't deduct points for that. They're a new business that's already won my business on a daily basis and I'm happy to have them so close by. Well done! read more

I was here for the first time today and the food was absolutely amazing the staff was extremely polite and very professional there were a lot of people working there to help you. I'm usually a fan of bagel boy in old Bridge But I don't think I'll be going there anymore now that this place is here. I ordered an egg and cheese on a roll and everything about it was extremely extremely fresh very delicious and they also can make specialty coffees light Frappuccino's and mocha Frappuccino's and they have a separate station where you can't help yourself to make your own coffee. i ordered a mocha frapp as well and it was very good. Not nearly as good as Starbucks but it still good. I'll definitely be back and probably quite often! read more

When bagel places are everywhere I don't have a reason to go back here. Seeds on only one side of a bagel, no salt in the everything mix, and ketchup on sandwiches when asked not to. Parking was a bit of a problem too. read more

TERRIBLE experince. Got there and ordered a simple toasted egg everything bagel with cream cheese and a meat lover omlet. The guy taking the order was very unfriendly and had no idea what the meat lovers omlet was (all he had to do was write it on his pad and give it to the kitchen) but instead he walked around behind the counter for 5 mins not saying anything while i tried to explain that the item i wanted was right on the board infront of him and he ignored me. Next we went to the caisher to try to pay and she told us we can't pay till our food is ready so we wait. At this point there ware prob 10 people waiting around for there orders. They start yelling out peoples orders and have no idea who orded what causing so much confusion. Instead of taking names when you order they did nothing to try to make the process go smoother. People were getting half there order and the workers had no idea where the rest was. After 45 mins of waiting and still no food and getting very frustated at this point i go to up the cashier and ask her where my food is. Instead of apologizing after telling her i have been waiting for 45 mins she very rudly told us they are under staffed and 3 people called out today (i dont care not my problem) a guy behind me says "that what they told me last week too". A different worker now goes to see if she can locate our food. She comes back laughing saying she does not see an omlet anywhere but she "found" my bagel. She gives my cold hard bagel and i asked for a new one since i wanted to toasted and it has sitting around now for 45 mins getting cold and hard. She said she would make it herself. She comes back about 10 mins later with my bagel to tell me they didnt have anymore egg everything so she just gave me something els.. Needless to say after over an hour i walked out of there with no food at all and i will never go back. read more

This is a new facility. The parking is rough they are pretty busy. I went in had to wait a few minutes to order no big deal. The man that helped me was very nice. The reason for the 2 stars. I only ordered 2 everything bagels toasted with butter, a garlic bagel toasted with butter and cheese, and a rainbow bagel with nothing on it. They charged me for an egg sandwich $4.95 for the garlic bagel with one slice of cheese! The everything bagel with butter toasted was $1.95. They charged me $3 for a piece of cheese. I asked why and she said it's an egg bagel I said no it has a slice of cheese on it she then proceeds to open my bagel in front of me and says "yea", yea what it doesn't have eggs on it. And didn't say anything else. She touches money with her hands and everything else. She shouldn't be opening people bagels while at the register. I seriously have no problem paying for what I ordered. I don't mind paying extra for something amazing. $3 for cheese is outrageous. And opening my bagel at the register is unacceptable! I'm disappointed to say the least and will not be coming back. There are bagel shops every where we are in NJ and much better establishments to spend my money at. read more
