We opted for Bagel Shoppe because our usual place was under construction, and this location was closer. We came in the morning, and I was stunned by the line. There was a line almost to the door, and I waited nearly 25 minutes just to place my order. It seems like this place has been around for a while, but I haven't been to this side of Springfield much, so it was fairly new to me. However, since I only ordered bagels, I was able to get my order fairly quickly. I will admit I used to drive further for that well known Queens bagel, but this is practically in my backyard and such a solid, consistently tasty alternative. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and it's still always my go to for a good bagel. Anyone I bring here is amazed at the quality, taste, freshness, and texture. It's 100% the perfect bagel. My go to is the Everything Bagel with Olive cream cheese. The everything bagel is perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of salt. They use green olives in the olive cream cheese, so you get that extra little bite of sour. But really, you can't go wrong with anything here. The plain with plain is always a good go to, their salt bagel is fantastic, and I'm a sucker for their cinnamon raisin too. Each time I come back to NY to visit family and friends, there two things we have to get - pizza and bagels. This place has become our go-to for bagels even. Though there are a few that are closer to where we stay. It is an small, unassuming hole in the wall place but there is almost always line ( especially with social distancing) but the staff is quick and efficient so I never have to wait more than 5-10 mins for food and coffee. I've tried bagels with cream cheese and bagel breakfast sandwiches from here and it is consistently solid each time. They definitely do not skimp on the cream cheese, or any of the sandwich fillings. So worth it for the money! It's about $5 for breakfast sandwiches and $3 for the bagel with cream cheese. That's comparable to prices for breakfast at fast food places but the quality, flavor and freshness is so so much better! It's actually cheaper than most other bagel shops in the area and much bigger portions to. I look forward to coming here each time I go back to NY. read more

I loveee coming here. It's a neighborhood bagel shop. In the morning there is a line outside, that's how good it is. I also love that they are super careful and clean due to covid. Whenever I order a bagel with tuna, they give me tons of tuna and it comes with a free water or coffee and macaroni salad (or coleslaw). Must read review! I have been eating their bagels and bialys for years. Their bagels and bialys are great! I love their lite veggie cream cheese! If it was not for this they would have lower stars. Over the last year or so I have noticed a few things that really bother me. First thing is sometimes their homemade cream cheese don't last like they should. When i purchase it today, it should not be slightly moldy by tomorrow night. The biggest peeve I have with this place is their continued rising costs and the 2 of the guys who work there. I know the economy is bad and costs are rising, but their price hikes are crazy. 2 bagels and 2 coffees should not be $10, when oasis bagels it is less than $5, which is where I started going instead. Most of the guys who work there are really great and nice, but 2 of them, which I won't name or describe, charge prices according to who they like. Once I went there and some random person started talking to me and then they said to one of the guys "Hey be nice to this girl" next thing I knew the $10 I paid 2 days ago for the same stuff turned to $6. REALLY?!?! I also understand it is busy in the morning, but your "come'on" and huffs and puffs are not necessary. After that incident I have only been in there a handful of times. One of the best bagel shops in the five boroughs, hands down. While this place occasionally gets crowded, usually around peak brunch hours, it's relatively unknown outside the areas of Oakland Gardens, Springfield Gardens and Hollis Hills. Thank goodness! The bagels always seem to be precisely baked and boiled, making for a superb, slightly crispy crust and a lovely, light and chewy middle. Whether you get an everything, while wheat or poppy, the bagels are always crafted to perfection. Having lived and worked in three boroughs, I've always been an aficionado of these circle-shaped pieces of heaven we call bagels (and bialys), but rarely have I encountered any that seriously challenged the quality of these. New York magazine once selected the bagel store on Horace Harding and Springfield Boulevard as one of the city's best, but locals know how good this place is and they're OK with having it under the radar. Years ago, this bagel place also put an Einstein Bros. Bagels out of business. (That location, across the street,is now a Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins.) I am really surprised at these reviews!! I love this bagel shop. I don't care what they cost really... These bagels are delicious! So much variety and always fresh. I tend to get bagels with butter... So I can't comment on the rumored old-ness of the cream cheese everyone else is talking about. The cream cheese is pretty good though when I do have it. Really generous slab of cream cheese they put on too. Their specials are good. And the workers... Always sweet. I prefer this place over slims, since 4/5 times I get sick from slims bagels. read more
