Called to place an order for pick up and that was a struggle. Had to repeat the order 3 times to the lady. Next thing you know another lady jumps on the phone to repeat the order to me and has it ALL WRONG. I said No that's wrong and then you hear both women laughing and giggling. My favorite bagel spot ever. They make their own bagels, and they taste amazingly. They are my go-to stop whenever I'm craving a bagel. They're a little on the pricey side, but nothing crazy when you compare it to Manhattan Bagel. Great bagels in Union. The line is a bit long in the mornings but they tend to be pretty fast with it. The women who work here seem a little miserable and they could work on their customer service, but what can you expect from a breakfast shop that is extremely busy all the time. Excellent bagels! Toasted, it is crispy on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside. They are baked every morning in house and are fresh as hell. My go-to is a toasted everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. They also make a mean Taylor Ham, egg and cheese on any bagel you like. I used to come here all the time when I lived in Union and shake my head when I have inferior bagels elsewhere. It's always a treat to come back here. read more

Bagel Spot has basically the lingo 'the spot' in the High School, because of how close it is and how frequent they go there. It also is a spot where seniors will sneak out of school, to get a bagel, then sneak back into school. It's just that good. I have been going to Bagel Spot since a kid on Sunday mornings, where I started with a salt bagel, then moved to a garlic bagel with cream cheese to my first choice now, which is their everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. It's all delicious and are the best bagels I've had in New Jersey. I've only had one better bagel in Long Island. The Spot is not any that looks gorgeous and if you go at the wrong time, the line could wind around the 'spot' then out the door. The prices have also changed since I was a kid, and I think the bagels with special cream cheese is above $2.50 now. Other than the increase in price, I have no issues with Bagel Spot and will continue to drive/walk there for years to come. read more

Bagel Spot is the only bagel place I trust. The bagels are authentic, inexpensive, typically fresh-out-of-the-oven, soft, and delicious. If I could eat one food for the rest of my life it would, no doubt, be Bagel Spot bagels. Throughout the thirteen years I lived in NJ, there were really just a few times when the bagels were "okay." Otherwise, they were a weekend treat. Unfortunately, I now live on the West coast, but every time I visit it's one of the first places I go when I'm off the plane. My favorite item from the menu was a bag of one dozen bagels, plain, sesame, or poppy, with a quarter of one pound of lox. So, so good. read more

I have to give them 1 star bc the staff dosent pay attention. Maybe after this review they can start paying better attention. I was specific when I said I wanted no cheese "bc I'm lactose intolerant". So when I was scrapping the cheese off my sandwich, I noticed a piece of hair stuck between the cheese. Awesome bagels along with breakfast and lunches. The prices are also very reasonable since they give you a generous amount. Let me just start by saying, if I could give this place negative stars, I 110% would. We walked in to place a 5 person order that apparently overwhelmed the non-English speaking staff. Midway through our order, our server walks away without letting us know what she was doing. When she comes back over we tell her our order is not done. Being that English is clearly not her first language, she looks at us puzzled and very confused and we proceed to finish the order. She has no clue what we were saying and got the manager and the manager didn't help us either. Without our food we had to storm off in complete disgust at this so called "bagel deli". If you do not speak Spanish or have a massive order, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. No one bothered to help us relay to her what we were ordering nor did the staff even know their own menu. I will never, NEVER return to this "place of business" from now on. Please heed my warning of this place if you want quality service. read more

I was in the mood for a bagel while I was waiting for my fiancé to get finished with something but I did not know the area. So I jumped on Google and came across The Bagel Spot. I had bought my fiancé a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. I bought myself a ham and cheese omelet that came with home fries and a bagel (cinnamon raisin with walnut raisin cream cheese) for lunch. I'm very picky when it comes to my bagels because I grew up in Jersey and they, I believe, have some of the best bagels. Well, I have to say that I know why everyone gave The Bagel Spot 5 stars. Everything was wonderful and so delicious!!!! When I'm in that area again I will definitely make it a point to return. I have already recommended it to people and will continue to do so. Food is actually good but be aware that some of their employees do not change their plastic gloves collecting money and making the food.. Disgusting!!! Worst bagel I ever had! No one knows what they're doing here, no one knows how to treat or talk to customers. I'm so amazed that this place had a line out the door! Why?! I would love to give this place 5 stars but I can't. Their home fries are delicious but their bagels are terrible. Don't know what happened. They used to be very good, now mostly white bagels that look uncooked with no crisp to them at all and NO flavor!! What are they missing?? Could be little or no malt is used now. Malt is what gives bagels some flavor. That and good baking practice. They don't even look good, so white and mushy. Very sad. Hope the owner sees this and does something abkut it.
