They also serve light bites but as we were sort of hopping from one place to another on a Sunday, I only ordered a few sweet treats. BLACK FOREST: my daughter picked this, likely because she thought it was a chocolate cake. But it was not your average chocolate cake. A good sized slice with moist cake, cherries, and dark chocolate bits throughout, I highly enjoyed this one. It's perfectly sweet - though I admit my daughter finished the exterior layer of frosting so the thin layered in between the cake were ideal for my taste buds. It was a bit too elevated for my daughter who only really wanted your regular chocolate cake. MATCHA CRUFFIN: This is a croissant-muffin filled with matcha cream, rolled in sugar. The laminated dough was packed so not like your airy-but-crispy-exterior croissant, nor was it noticeable buttery, but it did do its job by keeping its shape and the layers helped give its name. It was lovely to pull apart, with a nice, chewy texture. The filling wasn't exactly in the center (I shared this with my husband) so I dipped a little into the filling (borderline reminded me of pastry cream) that my husband got. It's light but also has a very nice matcha flavor that comes through. RASPBERRY LYCHEE PIE: I love pie and I was happy to find a uniquely flavored one here especially since it reminded me of my favorite ice cream flavor in Europe at Haagen Dazs years back (rose raspberry lychee) so I pounced on it. First off, this is definitely a mousse pie. We're vegetarian so a part of me wonders if gelatin was used to make this so I likely won't get this a second time without me asking the necessary questions - but it is good. As with most mousse confections, this is light and delicate in a way. Airy. Still substantial that I didn't feel cheated out of my money but not too filling. Nothing overpowered each other and the flavors and textures worked together beautifully. There were chunks of raspberries but I don't recall actual bits of lychee fruit in there, though you do get the flavor of it in there. I absolutely love the interesting flavors here and the items I got. I especially am a fan of how everything is perfectly sweet. I have a sweet tooth, but only for things that aren't too sweet and this is completely up my alley. They do have gluten free options but nothing extensive. And I'm pretty sure they include eggs. The girl who takes your order is the same person who wipes the tables and she kept up with it for the most part. The man makes the drinks and serves the food/drinks. I went with my kids. One of my kids has food allergies and he's allergic to all the food they serve here so I brought snacks for him along with apple juice ($2). He was content. In addition to pancakes, they also have savory items and croffles. Plus a nice selection of drinks. You order and pay first, get a number, seat yourself, and wait for your order to come to you. It took just under 15 minutes to get ours so not that bad, compared to notes it can take at least 20 minutes. They bring out the items as they're ready so don't expect the entire table's orders to come out at the same time. Most of the pancakes are around $16 and a few more bucks for their savory items. That makes it on the higher end. Seeing as it's more of a dessert or a sweet breakfast, it's something fit for a treat and not a regular occurrence. I enjoyed it (I would have gotten matcha if it wasn't just me and the kids) but it's definitely a once in a while thing. I'm not full eating maybe 65% of it. I imagine it would be near perfect for one adult. I guess it's up to the individual if it's worth it. The menu isn't extensive (maybe a few options of each category) and serves drinks from milk tea (choice of green or black tea) to milk drinks (mixed with milk so non-caffeinated other than the earl grey), lemonades, sodas, and more dessert drinks. They also have a hot drinks menu and I was pleased that they offered "throat friendly" options - especially with the cold weather. They also have soft serve, egg bubble waffles (HK style), Bingsu (Korean shaved ice), and croffles (which I assume are croissant waffles). As it was late, I opted for drinks and my daughter chose a plain egg waffle because that's how she usually rolls. The drinks were: BLACK SESAME BUBBLE MILK TEA: I chose black tea for this at regular sugar and I actually really enjoyed the black sesame that came through on this. The boba itself was cooked fine (not undercooked but also not all that chewy either) BUT it definitely wasn't cooked in brown sugar and had no flavor of their own. If you don't like Black Sesame, don't get this. If you're not sure... it's up to you. It has an aromatic nutty-earthy flavor. MANGO COCO SAGO: I got this drink because I love the mango pomelo sago drink at Hui Lai Shan and I missed it after I moved and I discovered the jellies they use contain gelatin (we're vegetarian) and it seemed similar enough. This is very coconut-y as that is the base and it definitely has the mango puree, the occasional mango chunk, and sago (the tiny clear balls made from sago palm trees)... but I don't recall the lychee jelly the description listed. It's also topped with a small segment of grapefruit. It was overall very coconut milk forward, the mango sorbet lacks much mango flavor, and the sugar level was very low even though I didn't adjust the sugar level. I was told that some people like to increase the sugar and if I ordered this again, I'd definitely increase the sugar which is something I would never do. I prefer Asian levels of sweetness. This drink was ... okay. The layers of the milk and the sorbet weren't mixed; I felt like it was a bit too much milk for the flavorful bits in there (mostly just the sorbet) that it overwhelmed it. The black sesame drink was sweeter than the mango one, which is rather surprising. The recipe for the mango coco sago could do with an update as that is a good base with great potential. The bubble waffle was good; I didn't get to eat any, but my daughter finished it. Nice and crisp on the outside, soft and pillow on the insides. Yum!
