I order a tuna on rye toast with a side of fries I was almost done with my sandwich when the fries finally came out..I was the only one in the store.. also the prices on the board doesn't match what's in register. Fries on the board was 4.19 and the register tape showed 4.79 a .60 cents difference now that's ripping off the customer. The staff speaks the native tongue among themselves in front of customers which I don't like.. I haven't been there in years this was my first time back in a while and I don't plan on going back.. I thought that stores must list they prices yet they was no prices on Snapple soda etc 3.50 for a Snapple which is crazy if I would have know the price I would haven't purchased the drink.. this place is highway robbery. I go there about 2 times a week~SIMPLY for convenience & convenience ONLY. (And I honestly question my sanity for even doing THAT.) They don't even act as tho they remotely recognize you as a regular patron....Not a "HI THERE" or "HOW ARE YOU TODAY?" It's like they're zombies.... and ... they sure don't act as tho they appreciate your business....EVER! I could've given my awful review of this place for the last few years...but I didn't. But today was the day...I'm finally writing about them. And I REALLY REALLY hope they read them. Todays experience: Every time I go, I always order my bagels with Xtra butter...because they never really put BUTTER on it...putting butter on a bagel is like a mere suggestion to them. So I have to ask for Xtra, just to get standard amount.. First I kindly and with a smile said to the girl... "I'll have an Everything Bagel or Plain, whichever is fresher." She replied, "I have no idea what's fresher...so what do you want?" (Ummm they have gloves they put on...she couldn't reach in & see which is fresher??? So I said, "I'll take an everything bagel with XTRA butter." As she was making it...I saw her buttering it ..I could see the "XTRA butter" was right out the window. I tried to get her attention as she was buttering it ... I couldn't... So my bill was $5.50... I said, "can you give me a teeny amount more butter please." She puts it in a tiny to-go ramekin... and then charged me $2.99 .... I said..."WAIT. My total was $5.50 before...?" She said .."if we give you XTRA butter, it's as much as a small container of cream cheese." I said.. "NOPE. Keep the butter." Got home..and had to put my own butter on it. Nicccccce. AND....here's the thing~ The BIGGEST insult to injury is .. THE BAGELS ARENT EVEN GOOD. They're EHHHH at best. The ONLY reason I believe they have ANY traffic in there is because it is RIGHT in town .. by the train..by a bunch of businesses ...etc. and THEY HAVE NO COMPETITION IN TOWN.....NONE. Other than convenience ...there is not ONE redeeming quality about them. I'd give anything to have someone open up a really good, friendly bagel place and put them right out of business. Because I am beyond certain if another bagel place DID open right in the heart of town...they'd be DONE. And I reallly really hope somebody does. This place doesn't deserve to have patrons. They don't care about you and they REALLY don't care if they give you crap food. So ...if you can...AVOID this place...!!! I mean..no one is coming here from other towns... They're all from Cranford ...and like me, I'm guessing only going out of convenience. BUT ...I always say : STRENGTH IN NUMBERS. I was a customer for years, but I stopped going after 2020. I had ordered a specialty sandwich to go. When I got home, I realized they made the completely wrong order. After going all the way back to politely ask to give me the correct order, they had the nerve to charge me an extra dollar because the sandwich they made by mistake was $1 less than what I actually ordered. I went to the deli yesterday and ordered a number two wrap from the vegetarian menu. It consisted of onions, peppers, and mushrooms. I was very disappointed after receiving this. The wrap was overwhelmingly greasy. And there was no seasoning at all on the vegetables. No pepper. No salt. Nothing. As you can imagine it just tasted like oily vegetables inside of a greasy wrap. Awful! I have continuously ordered bagels from here which has been the worst decision each time. Every single time I order a bagel WITHOUT fail there is no spread on it. I get a bagel toasted with a butter. Every other spot I've been to puts TOOO much butter but here there is maybe butter on the bottom but even at that nothing. Went there yesterday morning 11/20/2025 with my wife as we always do, first off the one lady that works behind the counter is always in a bad mood and constantly messes up our order. Everytime we go they make up the prices and we pay a different amount each time for the same items. We have found hairs in our bagels a few times. The worst thing was when we went to sit down at a table, my wife looked down and saw a dead mouse where she was about to sit. We notified the staff of the dead mouse and was told to sit at a different table not even seeming concerned. The guy who is in the back making the bagels came out and swept it up without cleaning the area or washing his hands. (He handles bagels with his bare hands). The mouse sat in the dust pan in the front waiting to be thrown out. The manager came out and started looking behind the chip display and the cabinets to ensure no more were found. Being absolutely disgusted by this I attempted to talk to the so called manager and he just kept blaming COVID and stating they have a mouse problem in the ceiling that they can't get control of. He was no help and offered us absolutely nothing to resolve the incident not even an apology. This was absolutely disgusting and we will not be returning back. I would advise everyone to really think before you step foot in this establishment. This is serious health violation and can get people sick. read more

I ordered a taylor ham egg + cheese...the cheese was barely melted and the sandwich looked a mess. The sandwiches are great but there's a few monkeys in the wrench! So they got the most important thing right -- delicious, true Jersey bagel breakfast sandwiches. They don't make the Taylor Ham too crispy and they've got a decent balance of egg, cheese, and meat. I'm also a fan of their strawberry cream cheese (in smaller doses, as it's very yummy but very sweet). But other than that, the coffee here is pretty terrible. I've tried just about everything they have that comes out of the dispensers to no avail. It seems to just be bad, weak, I'll-flavored coffee. Additionally, they don't have air-conditioning to my knowledge, so it can get very stuffy, especially in the summer. Their staff can be a bit rude but honestly I don't hold it much against them because I've seen some very rude customers come their way, since I come fairly often. And if you come when they open at 5 in the morning, as I just have, you should know they'll only have the day-old bagels available for purchase and the grill won't be ready to go on and start cooking. read more

I just started working near this store and they have AMAZING sandwiches. However they loose points for two things. Communication and keeping up to date with stuff. Today was the third time that i ordered something and it was wrong. I ordered a lox egg and cheese toasted on a hero, everything bagel with cream cheese and an orange juice. i was given the sand which on a roll. Now as a prior employee in hospitality, i always remember to repeat my order for clarification. It was still wrong, the last time i ordered before that, i ordered the same sandwich and got the wrong cheese. On top of that today is October 11. My orange juice has an expiration date of October 4th. It also doesn't clarify if it's sell by or best by. All in all their food is amazing but they definitely won't be getting my business anymore. read more

I've been getting bagels here for years. I feel their food is overpriced in comparison to the area and the line to order can be disorderly and a disaster at busy times. Their French Toast bagel is very good. Parking can be a challenge, depending on the time as it is all metered parking. They do not have their own lot. The free 10 minutes Cranford Parking provides is not always enough to get in and out of CBB. Some employees (usually the CHS students) are friendly. The older adults can be very curt in their interactions with customers. My bigger issue is that when I buy a dozen bagels for a community event / sports even (Cranford Lacrosse), they charge me a "bagel slicing fee" for the dozen bagels. Seriously? Never heard of that. I could see if I ordered 10 dozen bagels, but 12 bagels? I even ordered in advance. I'm waiting for them to charge customers for the brown bag. And maybe the heating and air conditioning fee while you wait in line is next...... They are surely not Cranford's "Best"- but if you're the ONLY bagel place in town, you can be the best and the worst. This is what happens when there is no competition. read more

I spent $22 dollars on a sausage egg and cheese on a bagel and a flat bagel with cream cheese (crazy) but the flat bagel tasted terrible and the only response I got was for me to have to go out of my way to return the bagel (wild) and of course the owner had to be rude and tell me well he makes 2000 bagels a day so I guess my money meant nothing I am livid. read more

My first time I went to this place, it was the morning rush and the line went out the door. It was a bit of a mess and honestly I had eaten already so I left. That said, I couldn't help but think if the place attracted that enormous of a crowd, there had to be *something* special about it. Today I went back towards the end of the afternoon. When you enter the place seems deceptively small. There's a deli meat counter on the left, cashiers in front, bagels off to the side in a display case and rows of coffee choices on the right. However, walk in a little more and you'll find a lot of assorted seating (enough for at least 20 people) in a section on the right side. There were also a couple seats outside, so there's plenty of places to sit to enjoy your carb-o-licious food. Looking over the bagel selection I was happy to see quite a variety! Cheese bagels, multi-grain bagels sat among more typical selections like cinnamon raisin bagels. The one that caught my eye? The French Toast bagel! I ordered it toasted with cream cheese. The "toast" basically just brought the bagel up to the temperature it probably was when it was first made, but no more. There were no burnt edges and amazingly it wasn't crisp from the toasting, but it was satisfyingly warm. The cream cheese had melted a bit into it, but it wound up helping the flavor penetrate the bagel. The French Toast bagel lived up to its name. There was powdered sugar on top, a wonderfully soft and chewy texture and some (what appeared to be) syrup worked into the bottom half. It was basically a dessert! I was very impressed. I plan on coming back to try some of their other bagels, but my first experience was very positive! read more

This place is still open during the pandemic/quarantine! Around 10am, I ordered two bagels over the phone for pickup ! My order was ready when I got there. Same quality and portion sizes! I was happy that there were still Black Russian bagels left! Came on a Saturday around 10:30am hoping to get my favorite bagel- the Black Russian. I was sad to see there were none left but the Black Russian bagels usually go fast. I ordered a whole wheat everything bagel with cream cheese and butter- try it! The bagels here always taste freshly made and the variety is amazing. They also have fresh fruit which I love! Paid $5.75 for my bagel with cream cheese/butte and small container of fruit. So my father decided to purchase a bagel with salmon here yesterday and he threw up all day long. He has diabetes and he can't keep anything down and now had to go to medicate to make sure his blood sugar doesn't get too low from not eating. In my opinion, the best bagels in Union County. Always fresh and bigger than a normal size. Excellent variety. I've been going here for several years and only order the bagels. Remember, your version of a little bit of cream cheese or a little bit of butter on a bagel might be different than theirs. On occasion we've ordered the smoked salmon and have always been impressed on how tasty and fresh it was. Stick to the basics and don't get too fancy. Prices are very competitive with their competition. Plenty of seating. They've lasted a long time in Cranford and I'm sure will continue to do so. read more

This is arguably the best bagel in Union county. These bagels are massive and have a perfect lightly crispy exterior with a soft, almost doughy interior. Eggs, ham, and bacon on the bagels we ordered were cooked well with the egg cooked through but not over cooked, and the Taylor ham and bacon being crispy but not burnt. At $6.50 for a BEC, these are also very reasonably priced compared to some of the competitors. I have to admit that I had the bagels delivered, so the complaints about poor service actually going to the location may be true, but if you are only focused on bagel quality like I am, these are top notch bagels. read more

They are allowing 3 people in the store at a time but the service continues to be quick and effective. Every time I go, I am greeted with a friendly employee and always leave satisfied.
