Always fresh bagels, friendly staff, good coffee and the best cream cheese spread in Winston Salem

I've been told many times since moving to Winston that I need to try Bagel Station, and now, I'm sad that it took me a while to do it because yum! This place hits the spot for bagels. I'm a big lox lover, so I had to try the lox cream cheese. It wasn't overwhelming, which I enjoyed! The cream cheese was fluffy, and it was a nice amount for the bagel. The pumpernickel bagel was perfectly soft gosh, it's so hard to choose a bagel flavor. They had so many options!!!! Need to go back soon to try more. It was a busy Sunday for them, but the service was quick and friendly. They knew how to handle the crowd! read more

Soo there's been a price increase in the last month that's not reflected on the menu. I stopped in today for a turkey bagel and was charged for the extras (tomato, lettuce, cucumber) but listed on the board that it's included. I also got a bag of chips and small drink (maybe 8-10oz) and with tip my lunch was $17. Suuuuper pricey, esp considering you order at the counter then pick up your food from the window. I love Bagel Station! Every time I have come I have had a fantastic experience! The employees are very friendly and the service is very fast. The prices are also very reasonable. The place always seems to be busy too! This is the perfect option if you're looking for a quick breakfast that does not feel too much like other fast food restaurants. I am pretty sure they are a chain but not sure what areas they are typically found in. I also noticed they started selling a plain gluten-free bagel as well! This was my first visit to this spot which has been serving a variety of authentic NY style bagels since 1990! I decide to go with the Salmon and Cream Cheese on an everything bagel, with onion, capers, and tomato - cost was $10.05. While at first glance this seems an expensive bagel, but it was huge, and I managed two meals from it. The bagel was large and it was very well filled - plenty of excellent smoked salmon, more than ample tasty cream cheese with capers mixed in, and a large slice of fresh tomato. This was a delicious bagel - it reminded me of ones I'd had at Barney Greengrass on the Upper West Side of Manhattan - except this one was bigger! I'll be back for sure. read more

They have the perfect amount of chew and lots of different flavors. They have plenty of seating inside. If you want a quick breakfast on the way to work they have it ready in a matter of minutes. Their bagels are 99% New York. The only reason I took off the 1% is because they're not in New York. They were crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside. When they give you a sandwich, they put meat on it. I had a Taylor ham egg and cheese on an onion bagel and the Taylor ham was a nice and thick layer. It made me feel like I was at home again. Originally from the northern New Jersey and New York area. Bagels were a common place up there. You could pretty much get a good bagel anywhere. Down here this is the place to go. The food is always delicious here. Their bagels are the best in town and made fresh every day. The variety is great too with something for everyone including some fantastic signature bagels like the Asiago bacon bagel and the five cheese bagels. The service isn't particularly friendly here but they aren't rude either. When they are busy they are all business and not much chit chat at the counter. That's perfectly fine. I'm not going to complain at all about getting my order quickly. Two things that lost one star today for me: First, I had requested cheddar cheese and got American. The person who took our order wrote it down correctly so whoever made my sandwich didn't pay attention. Second, the lack of music in the dining area is a plague in this city lately. I can't stress enough how awkward it is to sit in a dining room and have to whisper and worry about being too loud while you eat. The cafe at the library downtown is louder than this place. The new addition of the dining area is nice here although the chairs are pretty narrow and uncomfortable, they look nice enough. I like the local artist paintings on the walls too! They could use a few more pieces to fill in the blank spaces but the ones they have are bright and colorful and fit with the color scheme. read more

I have always loved Bagel station. Used to come here weekly my freshman year of College, and my favorite coffee shop that i used to frequent weekly (before they closed in 2020) used to serve their bagels as well. I always got a Bagel sandwhich on an everything bagel when I went to the this location (Oakwood) and an everything bagel with a side of cream cheese at the coffee shop. The everything bagel was always fluffy and CAKED with seasoning which I absolutely loved. Their bagels are very good. Still pretty great might i add. BUT the quality over the past few years has truly dropped. The bagels are less fluffy and really no longer have the same packed on everything seasoning. the sandwiches are still good, but not as amazing as they used to be. Not sure what happened but I really miss my fluffy NY style everything bagels :( read more

The original Bagel Station is on a side street off the main road. It has expanded def and added a dining area with plenty of seating. Very warm with colorful I rant artwork. Employees are friendly and happy to be there. The bagels are soft and tender, with every flavor better than the next. The variety of bagels, spreads and sandwich combinations will please just about every palate imaginable. I got The Deacon on an everything bagel. An open faced bagel with turkey, roast beef, tomatoes lice and topped with melted mozzarella. I add a little mayo for my diet and go to work on this deliciousness. Ex NYCer approved! I am PICKY with my bagels: so picky I got snarky when someone in line commented how a chair from the Midwest had excellent bagels (no). These bagels got it: good chew, great flavor, great cream cheese. While they aren't NYC bagels, they are are close as you get with the water here (legit). I'm an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese (the best), tomato and capers (try it, promise these salt bombs are bomb!). I don't even judge when folks get sweet bagels here because they are so. This is one of my favorite fast breakfast spots in Winston so I'm surprised I never done a review. They are definitely busy Friday-Sunday mornings so I suggest ordering online if you are looking for something quick. I've done online orders several times and my food is packed and waiting on the shelves on the side for a quick pick up. Even when I add a drink everything is always there ready and accurate. I have also ordered once I arrived and it is pretty easy but always a few minutes of a wait as they make your sandwich. My go to is a bacon, egg, and cheese in either everything bagel, everything wheat, Asiago, or sometimes the jalapeño cheddar. I always enjoy my sandwich and the warm bacon and egg usually help the cheese melt a little. The cheddar slices are pretty thick so I usually opt for American cheese. They have some seating which is nice if you want to relax and enjoy a casual meal! read more

Went to the bagel station for a morning pick me up and got their everything bagel with bacon and cheese. From my experience their bagels are good but their topping selection leaves a lot to be desired. This was my first time visiting since they opened the sit down portion of the restaurant. It was a nice quiet place to enjoy a bagel and coffee. My favorite thing was the room was decorated with art from local artists. The bagels are always great. The bacon, egg and cheddar on the everything bagel was pretty good. We ordered it with an egg fried medium, but got it fried hard, almost scrambled. The bacon is super thin, but had a decent amount on the sandwich. The bagel had a crazy cut with 90% on the top half and 10% on the bottom, and they gave both of us American cheese instead of Cheddar. And always at Bagel Station, no music in the silent dining room. But don't worry, we will be back... gotta get that bagel fix sometimes and they are the best in Winston-Salem. read more

The last time I gave a morning lecture for the trainees I work with, I bought bagels, coffee and cream cheese for them from here, and it went over really well. The experience was positive- everything was ready when I expected it to be and fresh. However, that experience was then dampened by an individual stop in- to be fair, it was crazy packed (I got the last spot in the parking lot). But when you're eating for two and you've got a specific craving for a bagel with smoked salmon with cream cheese with tomato and onion..... and you're not supposed to have the smoked salmon because you're eating for two, so you decide to compromise with yourself and get a vegetarian bagel sandwich (which is supposed to come with tomato, onion, cucumber and lettuce) but with extra scallion cream cheese.... But the bagel shows up without onion, and with a stingy amount of cream cheese.... :( My craving is just a bit unsatiated. I'll be back, might just check the order before leaving next time. If you're looking for some solid bagels in Winston-Salem look no further this is the spot! I've been here several times and every time I've always received some high quality soft bagels. They have so many great offerings, and I highly recommend the 5 cheese and bacon bagel, it's heavy but it's delicious! Honestly you can't go wrong with any bagel selection here and the breakfast sandwiches are also great. Be sure to check out the tons of spreads they have available too! As for the service, it's always been a quick turn around and they keep and long line moving quickly. The ambiance has also gotten much nice now that they have expanded their space to include a sit in area, but I like how it's still a small bagel shop at the end of the day! read more

The food was delicious and nicely priced, a cheddar cheese bagel with a sunny side up egg for only 5.75 I'll take it. Lots of different delicious bagel varieties like Asiago cheese, everything, and blueberry were a few that caught my eye. They also sell custom cream cheeses in single and large containers with different spices and flavors. Looked whipped and delectable. Service was fast and friendly. I have always thought that these bagels are the best south of the Macon Dixon line but I gave up gluten 8 years ago and have not been able to enjoy them since. I will never forget when I went to get one for my wife, the owner at the time (Dan) took me back in the kitchen and showed me very large bags with the word Gluten on them. Yes, they add gluten to get that wonderful chewy texture. Last week I returned to get my wife a sesame bagel. The counter person asked me if I wanted one and I told her that I was GF. She said that they now make GF bagels. I got one and it was amazingly good. Not quite the same but probably the best piece of bread that I have eaten in 8 years. Wonderful flavor. I've been living in NYC for the last 15 years (I'm a southern boy) for my job and nothing compares to a bagel made with water in the NYC area. That said, they bagels are tasty. You can actually can taste the bagel. My folks ordered rainbow, plain, pumpkin, blueberry and cranberry. best bagels in Winston hands down! I stop in here at least once a week to get a bagel and let me tell you, they're all amazing. Big fan of the everything bagel but during the summer a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese is so refreshing! The staff at both locations is always so helpful and welcoming, not to mention fast! I don't think I've ever waited more than 10 minutes for my bagel. I always recommend this spot for a quick breakfast sandwich fix, and will definitely be bringing my business there time and time again in the future. read more

I chose their five cheese and bacon bagel with egg, sausage, ham, bacon, and cheddar cheese. This creation certainly lived up to they hype! It was devoured for a great birthday breakfast at work! The office staff was also able to enjoy some bagels down in High Point as I picked up a few dozen to share with some delicious cream cheese spreads! Their strawberry and honey nut were my favorite. Undoubtedly the best bagels in WS. Go for the bagels and cream cheeses but be cautious on the sandwiches, they can be a little hit or miss. The only miss I've had lately was with the jalapeño cheese cheese and jalapeño bagel they both had no spice at all but I know the the jalapeños can sometimes be like that.... As for sandwiches I usually get an everything bagel with the lox sandwich fully loaded and it is really good. Sometimes the ingredients are not properly layered, capers shouldn't go on top of the salmon but rather on top of the cream cheese but under the salmon so they don't all just roll off but that is being picky. This last time I got the touted Deacon sandwich and it wasn't very impressive. Overall dry and bland with more bland a dry herbs sprinkled on top. I asked for the AuJus on the side but they said it is put on before. I guess it is just a sprinkle of Jus and then layer everything else. Great concept of a sandwich but just not executed well and if you are going to promote it it better be delicious! Love the expanded dining room and will of course be back to get bagels and cream cheese and might try some other sandwiches but staying clear of the Deacon. read more

The owners are awesome people, I'm not sure if the one in High Point is still open, but it would be the same guys on Eastchester. This is a best in bagels in town kind of bagel shop. Reminds me of NYC, how it should be done. I've never been disappointed. I mean when things run out but good goes quick. Walk into a cloud every time you're there. Great selection of prepacked containers. Love that they offer a lox, and you can get creative with sandwiches. I've not had too many desserts, but the kids and hubby love them. Streusel great.
