Bobby Boy Bakeshop came highly recommended. Our problem was we came pre Thanksgiving in the early afternoon when most of the baked goods were sold out. My intention was to try the chicken salad sandwich based on the photos but it's not on the daily menu. They do a daily sandwich and soup. The sandwich of the day was a smoked salmon over a delicious bread. The bread was soft and thick which was the perfect vehicle for a good portion size of smoked salmon. The focaccia slab was also very hearty topped with cheese and a tomato sauce. We tried one of their sweets that was still available. Another "Wish I could rate this 3.5/5" for me. I know this is a favorite in the Winston/Triad area, and it's definitely got the vibe/aesthetic down, but there's a little room for improvement! Had to wait a couple mins for parking but a spot in the lot opened up (there's street parking as well). The shop is super light and bright- my favorite - and very clean. You can see all the pastries and desserts in the case, so very easy to order with your eyes. There was a decent line but it moved pretty quickly. I ended up ordering the valrhona caramelia chocolate brownie and a mocha. My friend got an americano, fruit pull apart bread, and a spelt loaf to go. Flavor-wise, I thought the brownie was good, but I like my desserts just a touch sweeter. It was also cooler and harder, from sitting in the case, I think maybe if I let it sit and soften a little, I might have enjoyed the texture more. Service was good, perhaps a bit brusque (not unfriendly though). They also have a wine shop inside the store and I definitely want to stop by again and grab a bottle! They made my chai very quickly and have an assembly line that makes the line move fast too as you're ordering pastries. Cons: The indoor seating area was pretty crowded, which made it kind of loud and there isn't a lot of sitting space inside. It was too hot to sit outside, but their outdoor courtyard and patio were very cute and had more seating. The artistry of these desserts is unmatched. Everyone was helpful and patient. We got there around 9:45 on Thursday and they had plenty of goodies! I opted for savory and then sweet items to go. My friend and I both got the Brown Sugar Maple Latte, very good but was not sweet like the name led us to believe. The Everything Puff Pastry filled with goat cheese was phenomenal! My friend got the Morning Bun and said the cinnamon and orange were great flavors. I drove 45 minutes for bobby boy and it did not disappoint. There was a decent line but it went super fast. We tried almost one of everything it seemed like and seriously everything was amazing. The croissants rivaled those in France and they had some really unique options such as blue corn cookies. This café is becoming one of my favorites. I saw on their Instagram that they had an Entremet that sounded good to me so I went for that but unfortunately they didn't have it. So I got the brownie instead and had it with the iced latte. The brownie was topped with caramel, and it was so good! It went very well with my latte. I noticed after finishing my latte that they make ice cubes with coffee which is great so my latte doesn't get watered down! Every café really should do that. My wife has heard so many amazing things about Bobby Boy on social media. She also knew they were recently nominated for a James Beard Foundation award in the outstanding bakery category. Bobby Boy is an artisanal bakery which opened in 2019 and is owned by John and Lucia Bobby and named after their surname and two sons. Customers can order specialty items in advance, stop in and order at the counter and enjoy in their modern indoor space or on the cozy patio, or have treats packaged up to go. We've driven by on Saturday mornings in the past and saw the line of customers waiting outside the door. So, when we had a weekday free we decided to stop in. The space is beautiful and welcoming and the treats are well displayed. My wife told me about seeing posts for their rotating sandwich specials and we were hoping we might be lucky and catch the meatball sandwich being offered that particular day. We were immediately greeted by a man working behind the counter. We inquired about the daily specials and he told us they were featuring a shrimp sandwich special. I can't remember the specific sandwich, he lost me at shrimp, since I don't eat seafood. We perused the other items and decided to take a few things with us to enjoy later. I chose a piece of the caprese bread and we also ordered a few ginger molasses cookies. The items were packaged nicely and we were on our way. I had a sweet tooth craving this week and wanted to try out a bakery I hadn't visited before. I am sooo glad I chose Bobby Boy Bakeshop. I went the last hour, so there were fewer options for me. I tried the coffee cake and their original croissant. It was so yummy. I had requested vanilla filling inside my crossiant. The vanilla frosting wasn't too sweet, and the croissant was crunchy on the outside and super soft in the inside. The coffee cake was enough to serve 2 persons. It was so full of flavor and dense. The center of the cake had some walnuts in it, which made it tastier. Also they have an inside wine bar, and you can buy bottles of wine if you would like. After hearing so many epic things about this bakery, we had to give it a go. We went on a Saturday morning, and had to wait out in a queue for 20 mins at least, before we even got into the building. If that isn't enough to tell you about the place, I don't know what is. It's a tiny bakery that shares the seating space with another restaurant. But it still gives off a very warm and welcoming vibe. A couple things were already sold out, including the almond croissant. But they still had plenty amazing options that we were very confused. We got there around 12:30 pm on Saturday and had wait outside in line for about 15 minutes becore we could get it. The line moving quickly as the servers were very prompt and quick. They share the space with a restaurant so make sure you get inside from the front (on the road) . They have parking in front but there also some street parking available. They have a magnificent display of desserts to sell! We got their butter croissants (classic) and the caramel chocolate brownie! Both quite contrasting to each other.
