I was looking for a bagel shop that opens early, and this spot is perfect! Opens from 6 AM - 5 PM! They have a great variety of bagels & plenty of topping options to customize your order. What we ordered: Smoked Salmon Lox on Asiago Bagel : added avocado, tomato, sprouts & egg. This combo was so good and they're super generous with the toppings. Bagel itself was warm, pillowy, and nicely toasted on the outside. Everything Bagel with Ham, Cheese & Egg : also delicious! The ham wasn't overly salty, egg was fluffy, the melted cheese tied everything together perfectly. It's an awesome spot for a quick grab and go breakfast or lunch, there's a few seting by the window. Service is fast and friendly, and they even have a fridge stocked with bottled drinks, yogurt, some fresh fruit. Prices are unbeatable, way more affordable than your typical "fancy" bagel spots. Definitely a solid find in Berkeley!

Lower than average pricing and delicious bagel sandwiches. The bagels themselves are chewy and the perfect vessels to hold the sandwich fillings. Not super generous with lox but decent as for the ~$12 price. The BSC Club was fire and had generous filling. We ate our bagel sammies right up.

Prices are on the slightly higher side for the portion size (not terribly generous with the cream cheese but I like a thicker cream cheese layer so personal preference). They also sell their cream cheese in bulk in a separate container in two different sizes so you can take it home. But their garlic cream cheese is delicious! I've tried many of their bagels and cream cheese flavors before. My favorite, by far, is the asiago cheese bagel with garlic cream cheese. Their breakfast sandwiches are also quite good. Eggs are microwaved, though, if that matters to you. Family owned business, and it does get busy during school hours. A bit of a wait when there's a long line, and very minimal indoor seating (2 tables ish) Asiago is my favorite, as mentioned. I've also tried their everything bagel, poppyseed, sesame, jalapeño, etc. All decent - jalapeño is probably my second favorite if I had to choose, followed by sesame.

QUICK service and easy to order! Good: The Californian was amazing! A super thick bagel filled to the brim with toppings. Recommend this one! Service: Workers are fast as this place gets busy. They are kind and almost can read your mind when you need help. Ambiance: Great location and few seating inside.

Delicious fast and healthy. Had the California on an onion bagel. Very good! The way I would want to make it if I had all the stuff. They are fast and efficient- some might see it as rude, but I think it is just a cultural difference. I appreciated how fast everything was.

This is an excellent cafe. I had been craving a smoothie for several weeks and finally gave it. After a quick Yelp search, I landed on Bagel Street Cafe, which is a short walk away from the UC Berkeley campus. Upon entering, I saw a wide variety of bagel options, as well as a menu full of sandwiches and other food options. They have pastries, as well, although not as wide of a variety. I ordered a strawberry banana smoothie, and my partner ordered a mango smoothie. We also ordered a chocolate muffin (not pictured). For the smoothies, you have a 16 oz option and a 20 oz option. The smaller size is under $6 and the larger is under $7. Not bad for a smoothie. The smoothies are also made with fresh ingredients. I watched the lady add the fresh fruit! The mango smoothie has fresh mango and mango juice (amazing option for mango lovers!). Both smoothies were excellent! The chocolate muffin was good too; exactly what we expected it to be. We loved the smoothies so much that we returned 2 days later for more! The service was quick, and the lady was very pleasant and chatted with us while we waited for our smoothies. The ambience is like a typical deli (very casual). I'm sure this place gets a lot of foot traffic once school starts, given its proximity to the campus. The breakfast sandwich options looked delicious, too! Overall, this is a really great place to get a smoothie. I haven't tried the coffee or the sandwiches/bagels yet, but I plan to. I definitely recommend this place!

Got a Sausage Egg and Cheese for around $10.74 (incl. tip). The bagels are alright but definitely good enough for a quick breakfast or lunch close to campus -- it's on Telegraph, a few blocks from Sather Gate. There is limited seating inside, but there are signs limiting your stay to 45 minutes (I'm not sure if this is actually enforced or not). This is a mom-and-pop store, and they're always quick and efficient in taking and preparing my order. The meals aren't particularly memorable but I come back to support their small business!

This is one of many small shops along Telegraph Ave. Some bagels are decently priced here; others aren't as much. Truthfully, compared to other bagel places I've seen, there's nothing to brag about here. It's not the cleanest place, and they're not the absolute friendliest to newcomers either. Truthfully, I only came here for a quick bite. I ordered their Nova Lox and Cream Cheese Bagel, which seemed very popular, on a Jalapeño and Cheese bagel (all the toppings inside with pickles added) and a soda. The bagel itself is of a good size, but not very flavorful. The total came out to about 17 dollars (more expensive than my friend who got the exact same thing as me, so I assume they charged extra for pickles, which is a first from ANYWHERE I've gone to eat ANYTHING). The bagels were done fast, so my friend and I decided to sit down and eat. At first bite, I wasn't very pleased or amazed, or really anything. I've had better Jalapeño and Cheese bagels from other places, the lox was a little off-putting (like maybe it was old ??), and the layering of the ingredients was also weird. To make the experience more negative, when my friend went to go ask for napkins, the woman who runs the place said there were napkins in the bag. Upon looking in the bag, there were only two... odd for them to be so stingy with their napkins. The experience wasn't the best, and neither was the food. Not worth the money spent, and I would only recommend coming here for something cheaper-- no drink-- perhaps a regular bagel with cream cheese is their true specialty ? I give it one star because I may not ever come here again, which is a FIRST for me when it comes to small businesses that sell bagels (I've had cheaper, more delicious and fulfilling bagel sandwiches from other places, for sure!)

So glad we have a well priced breakfast place on Telegraph! I stopped by Bagel Street Cafe on my way to class for a bagel. They have a wide menu and many fresh breads to choose from. The inside is very clean and has some seating. I was greeted by the person making the food who was friendly. I chose the sesame seed bagel with plain cream cheese and asked for it to be toasted. The bagel tasted very fresh and they were very generous with the cream cheese which I appreciate. There was cream cheese with every bite, yum! My total was slightly over $4. They also have sandwiches which I tried when they were at their previous location and those are delicious as well. I will be back soon to get one!

Delicious bagels ready quickly. I ordered the Eggwich Special (Spinach, Mushroom, Ham, & Cheese) on an Asiago Bagel. The bagel was soft and had the perfect texture. Flavors meshed perfectly together. I also added hot sauce because I love hot sauce. I look forward to trying more bagels here!

First word to say is that this place is tasty. I ate here multiple days in a row and bought different types of bagel smears with a cappuccino and could not get enough. Service was quick and helpful to tend to basic needs like utensils or napkins. It is a charming little bagel shop that I wish I had near my home.

sausage, egg, & cheese on everything bagel
    Andrew H.

Decent bagel shop on Telegraph. I had a sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. It was well constructed and the bagel was pretty standard. No complaints, but at the same time nothing notable. I had a sub-par service experience. The employees there were snapping at people. Some other girl asked if her order was ready and she just got waved off. I'd come back, but mainly because the pricing is fair and it's the only bagel shop in the area.

The bagel was decent but I wouldn't recommend the eggwich. The eggs were microwaved and the ham tastes like thinly sliced Oscar Meyer's.

And it doesn't hurt that they make a respectable bagel. The bagels proclaim themselves as New York style, and they fall on the softer end of normal variation. We ordered poppy and onion bagels today. The dough in the poppy was malty and chewy, though it did not provide much structure. You can spread cream cheese over it and tear off pieces, but it won't support an open-faced sandwich. The crust was glossy and toothsome but not crisp. The onion bagel was similar in texture but notable because the bakers roll (rehydrated?) sautéed onion into the dough. The crumb is a bit softer as a result and the flavor is sweet and complex from the onion. It's definitely worth trying here. Berkeley Bagels has been around forever and feels like a real institution. The kebab plate had a melted salad dressing container in it, and the melted plastic got on some of the chicken, which made it inedible. The basic bagel was SO GOOD. It genuinely might be one of the best bagels I've had. I loved the scallion cream cheese, and the tomato was super fresh and juicy without making the bagel soggy. The tomato and cream cheese also helped balance out the stronger flavor of the raw red onion. I'd definitely recommend this one if you're here! The honey truffle bagel had a really interesting sweet and salty combination. I loved the richness of the honey, while the earthy truffle flavor paired really nicely with it. The truffle cream cheese was a little too salty for my taste though. The shop itself is small and cozy, with limited indoor seating and an outdoor patio. They also have plain bagels, coffee, tea, and other options. Weekend lines can get a little long, but the wait is usually pretty reasonable. There's also plaza parking available across the street. The one issue for the bagels is their structure. The crumb loses its shape under any tearing or bending, which makes it hard to support a sandwich. We also noticed that the cream cheese had a slightly grainy texture. All told these are great bagels. Pair them with a cream cheese you like and rip in.
