The Spud comes with a hash brown inside

NEW BAGEL ALERT! unless you're a bagel addict like me and you've been to their other location. (Make sure you go to the right when you walk in the door at Ballston) Ok so new bagels in Ballston! No, not Call Your mother, and no not Pop Up Bagels (yet). It's Bagel Uprising! The people United against tyranny through the power of the yeast. I am a bagel snob and a breakfast sandwich enthusiast so here we go right in my wheel house: I have tried the Spud sandwich and the basic egg and cheese with bacon. Both were really good however they NEED some hot sauce or ketchup to make them really click. Or at least salt and pepper. These bagels are really tasty and they are perfect for a sandwich. They aren't my preferred bagel in Arlington (you'll have to see my other reviews for that Intel) because they don't quite have that snappy crispy crust I look for however like I said these are perfect for a sandwich. At the moment they only offered drop and canned coffee so no lattes or iced coffee for us

    Breakfast spud on everything bagel

I tried the breakfast spud sandwich with an everything bagel and scallion and chive cream cheese. The sandwich as a whole was pretty good and I'll definitely order from here again! The pros: the sandwich had a lot of great flavors and I loved the scallion and chive cream cheese. The cons: the bagels itself wasn't my favorite and I'll probably never order just a plain bagel with cream cheese from here. I ordered a bagel during breakfast rush hour and it was ready on time for pick up.

Barely any meat in my Reuben and the chips were bottom of the bag. The pickle was soft.

They just opened so they're trying to get the kinks out. I went twice on one day. For breakfast I got their salmon, egg, avocado. Generous helping of all the ingredients, except the everything bagel was more of a nothing bagel. It barely had any seasonings that makes it an everything bagel. They should have cut the bagel in half. Everything fell out and ended up needing a fork to eat the thing. Bagel had good texture and chew. I'd order it again. At lunch I tried their Reuben, again the everything bagel barely had any seasonings. They also were very skimpy on the pastrami meat. Three narrow slices so it was mostly bagel. Taste was good. The included pickle was horrible, it was soft. The potato chips were clearly from the bottom of the bag and just big crumbs. Again, cutting the sandwich in half would make a lot of sense. When you walk in, it's hard to tell if you go right to the counter or walk directly to the counter. Once you order you have to wait, it's an awkward waiting area because of the traffic flow you're either in the way of people leaving, picking up or trying to order.

Breakfast spud with scallion cream cheese on an everything bagel. Also got the canned cold brew.

Went today for the first time since opening. Always happy to support a local business. Got the Breakfast Spud on an everything bagel. Would get again. The bagel was great texture and I really loved the flavor of the scallion cream cheese- it had a hint of lime which was unusual but tasty. Improvements I'm hoping for down the line: - Cutting the bagel sandwiches in half - Non-pork breakfast meat alternatives (e.g. turkey bacon and/or turkey sausage). There is a turkey option on the PDF menu but no way to sub the ham for it when ordering online - Iced coffee!

YUM! Delicious bagel and they were not shy with the cream cheese. I wish the bagel were slightly bigger but I really can't complain. SO happy to have this bagel store open.

The Breakfast Spud (bacon instead of ham)

Grabbed bagels this morning to go and they were ready pretty quickly. Loved the soft texture of the bagel. The breakfast spud was a unique spin on a classic bacon egg and cheese but I really enjoyed it. Solid spot for a classic bagel sandwich.

But I would think they would have some heads up on conferences in the area just due to their location. Anyways, I bee-lined it here during lunch break to get a sandwich, with only one person in front of me at the counter. I had the ribeye cheese with added onions, peppers, and mushrooms (a $2.00 upcharge), and was told to have a seat and they would bring me the food since I was going to eat in the building lobby where this location is. And right after I ordered groups from the conference started coming in and soon enough the line was 15-20 people. At the end of that line were two co-workers that found this place by getting lost. They (co-workers) took over 20 minutes before they were even able to make it to the counter to order their food, chili and another ribeye cheesesteak sandwich with fries. After they placed their order, I looked inside and realized they were overwhelmed and were probably not going to bring out my sandwich so I went to the pick up area to ask the status of my sandwich. The panic behind the counter was telling me they lost my order. And they had me wait at the counter for my sandwich an additional 4-5 minutes. When I got back to the table I realized that all I got was the ribeye cheese sandwich with shredded iceberg lettuce, no peppers, no onions, no mushrooms. I wanted to go back, but with the panic behind the counter I said I am just glad I got something to eat. The sandwich was good, not bad, with a nice toast on the hoagie bread. About 10 minutes after I got my food, my co-workers got their food and the person that ordered the chili was very disappointed, they said they have had better chili and Wendy's. My other co-worker agreed that the ribeye cheese sandwich was not bad, but the fries were flavorless, like they were not salted. Anyways, maybe management could take initiative in finding out what conferences are occurring in the immediate area and be prepared that first day, because you only have one chance to make a first impression. I am not likely to return to this establishment due to the incorrect order and the slow service. I wish them much success.

The Italian Store has so many Italian subs to choose from, but I went with the Milano, their most popular sub. The combination of the sweet and spicy peppers really made this sandwich stand out. There was just the right balance of flavors, and I can definitely see why it's one of their most popular choices. A heads-up when ordering: They typically have several sandwiches pre-made and ready to go, but if you want something made fresh to order, you'll need to order by phone or online. At least at the Lyon Village location, you can't order a made-to-order sandwich directly at the counter. So if you have your heart set on a freshly made sub, plan ahead! Of course, no Italian sub is complete without chips. They carry Route 11, a Virginia-based chip company, and they had several varieties available: lightly salted, dill pickle, Chesapeake Crab, Mama Zuma's Revenge, and salt & pepper. I went with the lightly salted, which was the perfect pairing with my Milano. Unfortunately, the Lyon Village location doesn't have fresh gelato, so I had to settle for the pre-packaged variety. I went with the caramel gelato, and it was delicious! It wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciated, although it was a little on the expensive side. The store was pretty busy when I stopped in, with several people inside and a few others enjoying the outdoor tables. They also sell pizza by the slice, or you can order a whole pizza to take home. I saw several people leaving with whole pizzas, so clearly I need to add that to my next visit. Between the Milano, Route 11 chips, and caramel gelato, this was a fantastic first experience. Definitely coming back -- next time, I'm trying the pizza!

There's a lot of back-and-forth about who offers the best sandwiches./subs in the DMV. My vote is for The Italian Store! Even when you're in a rush, they have ready-made classic sub choices for grab-n-go. This is a great spot to try for lunch one day or even on the weekend. You will not be disappointed. Also, when the workday has been to rough and you don't feel up to cooking, TIS is a great option. Happy eating.

I've never seen a deli spot that matches the vibes (thick & delicious) of a NYC deli. This place reminded me of the famous Katz Deli in NYC. The bar seating was first come first serve. We actually met the owner Will!!! I feel like he provides more customer service than our waitress. Will is a dope guy and seems down to earth.
