Well that sure was a bagel. Got a lox bagel on everything (no capers), and a plain & everything with cream cheese. Was it a chewy, dense, NYC style bagel? Absolutely not. I spent a few years in Charlotte & have gotten bagels all around the south, and they're Southern bagels -- more like a thick bread for your sandwich needs. But the service was quick and effective, and the vibe was fine. If I lived in Wilmington I would try somewhere else but go here in a pinch. read more

We had a hard time finding a place that was open (day after Christmas) and that was good but we were told to try Bagels on Pointe by the meter police so we figured it was a go! We ordered 2 plain bagels with jelly, one everything with cream cheese and a everything with scallion spread. We arrived and there was no one in the place, which was great for timing. We were welcomed by young girl who was very nice and helpful! When we got home and started to eat the bagels, we all said the same thing....the bagels were not very tasty....more like eating a slice of bread. The bagels were good size and toasted but the overall taste was medium. The price was fair Parking was great...we were able to park right in front. I am sure this would not happen when the "season" was taking place, as I mentioned, this was the day after Christmas and it was early. Would I be back? Probably, give them a 2nd chance. I go right by this place so I thought it would be a great pplace to pick up coffee every morning and maybe a bagel every now and then. I Wanted it toasted and split put in a bag with a large coffee. gave me my bag got to work the bagle was not toasty at all in fact just as white had it not been toasted, the coffee has grounds in the bottom of it, and then so did my mouth. UGH 3 strikes and out policy, I knew they couldn't brown a Bagel so, lets do the coffee, twice more, filled my coffee only to get to the bottom and still filled with grounds. Lets chalk it off to short handed, hire whoever comes through the door, has a job, but man, toasted is toasted and how do you continue getting grounds in your coffee? Fail to train or train properly? I prefer sweet bagels and sadly they didn't have any sweet or fruit based cream cheeses outside of the honey maple flavor I believe. Sunday morning, my wife was having a hankering for a bagel sammy from her favorite place, Mr. Bagelmeister. When we pulled up to the establishment, we noticed the name had changed to Bagels on Pointe!! What?!?! Tell me this couldn't be. What about that delicious Cesar sammy, the sundried tomato bagel and the jalapeno bagels, made to perfection?? We walked in and I immediately was relieved to see the owner, John, on the grill. Whew! After speaking with John for a little bit, I learned he made the name change a few months back, but it's still the same old wonderful bagel shop and staff! This time, however, I tried something different. FOOD: The Barclay (Philly cheesesteak on your favorite bagel) on a jalapeno bagel with a side of tots. The steak was shaved and cooked well, mixed with diced onion and peppers with some ooey gooey cheese. The taste was incredible but I just wish there could have been slightly more meat on this sammy. My go-to has always been the Cesar sandwich bc of the wow factor and that it is packed with meats. If the Cesar is a solid 5 stars, I would rank the Barclay I had...4.1 stars. The tots were golden, crispy and served piping hot although I doubt these were house made tots. SCORE: 4.2 STARS!! SERVICE: John, owner of this place, is not afraid of hard work, dedication and getting his hands dirty within his operations. Each time I see him, he is at the grill, preparing the meals for patrons while his staff accommodates orders at the ordering station and on the phone. The staff is always polite and kind and I enjoyed my experience once again. SCORE: 5 STARS!! OVERALL SCORE: If you frequented or visited Mr. Bagelmeister before...this is the same crew and food, just under a different name. Yum! I went in for a sausage egg & cheese on asiago and it was exactly what I got! We also ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a sun-dried tomato bagel. Very clean environment. Menu is straightforward--this is an uncomplicated quick-service experience. (I waited less than 5 minutes for my bagel.) The lady at the register was super nice as well. I would have given a better review because their bagels are pretty good however not a true NY bagel water boiled. The real problem is dealing with one of the employees who nasty and rude every time we go there. She has short blonde hair and is in a sling the last time we went. She is angry like she hates her job and everyone else. She usually gets the order wrong and when she brings your food out she just drops it on the counter like she hates you. Bagels on pointe are bagels on POINT! Despite them ACCIDENTALLY adding bacon to 3 of my orders I still come back Everytime for the delicious bagels and even more delicious service. They're so understanding when I politely ask for no bacon and return my bagel. And what makes it even better is they remake the bagel entirely. I'm so pleased with the service and understanding of John and every person that greets us with a smile. I love the bagels here and If you're ever in the area this is the bagel spot to go to! Every time I go there, which isn't often, I experienced the same issue: I am very specific that I like my bagel extra extra toasted and every time it comes out NOT toasted and barely warm. Not sure if there is an issue with the order taking where that type of request does not make it on the ticket, or perhaps their toasters are unable to be adjusted, or if it is simply too much effort for the staff to wait an extra minute to toast it to order. Whatever the weakest link may be, I feel that a manager should step in to resolve it. I think at that price point unsatisfied customers will simply not return rather than having the order remade and go through that process. read more
