Bacon, egg & cheese on plain bagel
    Tracy W.

Grabbed my daughter a quick bite on our way to the beach. She ordered the bacon, egg and cheese bagel with hash browns. This place was very cute, service was good. My daughter considers herself a breakfast bagel connoisseur and she said the bagel sandwich was just ok, the hash brown did not meet her expectations. The restaurant has several other offerings and I would definitely go back and give it another try the next time we're in the area.

"Healthful" wrap. Good but lacked much flavor. Suggest adding jalapeños.

Nice little find that I would return too. We got the "Healthy" and if I did it again I would add some jalapeños to it as it lacked a bit of flavor. Most likely would try something else as it all looked good. Customer service was friendly and they kept the place clean.

Egg white dune rite on Asiago

So tasty!!! Was back in town visiting and had to stop in for a beach bagel. Hadn't been to the downtown location before. Got the egg white dune right on Asiago and the americano sandwich.

Salt bagel with egg and cheese

Good bagel and a decent price point. It's centrally located (downtown location) but I was able to find street parking easily. They have helpful staff and a good vibe inside. Plenty of seating. I got a salt bagel with egg and cheese which was very good- a little smaller than I expected (I'm from NJ so used to huge bagels). They also have sweet tea by the soda dispenser which is a huge plus!!

This downtown Wilmington outlet of a place that originated closer to the beach has a wide bagel-based menu. I was impressed by their range of vegan options (and indeed kind of kicked myself for getting regular butter). It was easy to pay and quickly ready. The sundried tomato bagel had the tangy, savory flavor I expected. The bagel itself was fine, but not a great bagel, fairly bready and not rich and sour the way the top notch ones are. Still, I took a couple more to go, and it was a nice breakfast at a good price. Some outdoor seating in the area was available.

The Beast (86 Avo) on Sourdough minus
    Marby J.

First time in, I ordered The Beast on a Sourdough bagel with no avo. Delicious! Plus they give you a $3 off coupon for a listed sub and combo. Will have to return to check it out. But I'm a sucker for bagels and the sourdough was on point.

The José on an everything bagel with a hot black coffee! Getcha RIGHT!!

Great food, great atmosphere. Delicious hot coffee!! A great sway to start the day right by the water in Wilmington. A short walk from the hotel makes it perfect!

I feel like it's a requirement to be unfriendly and rude there. Food is decent but they're so mean for no reason.

Got a Americano and cost $4.50 and only filled the cup a little over half. The taste was terrible. I will not go back.

At this point it was about 9:15am and I saw Brunch Thyme was open. Not doing a lot of research I walked over and assumed it was a sit down restaurant but quickly learned that it's actually take out. I think the worker saw the disappointment on my face when I walked in and she offered me a small foldable table to place outside which encouraged me to stay. My partner ordered the fish n' grits and I ordered The Frenchie which both turned out to be great choices. The fish was seasoned well, I believe it was whiting and the grits were rich and creamy. It came with a delicious gravy that we didn't notice until the meal was almost finished but ended up spooning like a soup. My French toast and eggs were tasty as well. For drinks they had canned Coke products, apple juice and bottled water. Sitting outside was hot and the bugs were constant but I was thankful to have a place to eat because again, I walked here (about 20 min). I observed many people eating in their cars or simply taking their food to go. With this, I also saw a few groups come and go as they didn't realize it was a take out style restaurant. Minus the heat, we enjoyed our meal and the customer service we received. Prices were responsible and portion sizes were filling. Check it out if you're in the area.

We were finally able to stop into RUMCOW on Grace Street in Wilmington this weekend!…read more We had a reservation. We were seated within a couple of minutes. Our server Ava knew the menu and read the table well. No overselling, no scripted recitations. She just took care of us. Thanks Ava. The Blackened Chicken Breast came with basmati rice, seasonal vegetables, black bean salsa, and a chipotle cream sauce that worked harder than it had any right to. The flavors didn't compete. They really settled into each other. The Rumcow Salad, loaded with mixed greens, carrot, tomato, onion, cucumber, and wonton strips, we ordered topped with shrimp. It was sharper and more interesting than we had expected. It's a newer spot in Wilmington, and it shows. In The Best Sense. We'll be back for sure!

The service was friendly and attentive, and we started the evening with a bottle of Cambria Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay (2023), which was a nice way to begin dinner. Unfortunately, the food this time around just didn't live up to what we remember. We started with the Asian Tots, which used to be one of the best items on the menu. In the past, the peanut sauce was poured over the top so everything came together as one dish. Now it's served in a small cup on the side, and there isn't enough of it to properly coat the tots. They also stopped finishing the dish with the salt they used to sprinkle on top, and even the presentation has changed -- the silver dome they once used is gone. What used to be a great appetizer has been reduced to something that's simply okay. For the main courses, the results were mixed but mostly disappointing. My blackened chicken was a little overcooked. My wife ordered the miso salmon, and that was overcooked as well -- which is especially noticeable with fish. When salmon goes past the sweet spot it quickly becomes dry, and that seemed to be the case here. None of the food was terrible, but none of it really stood out either. Dessert didn't help much. I ordered the carrot cake, but what arrived looked more like a small cupcake buried under a heavy amount of icing, with a large mound of whipped cream on the side. There wasn't much actual cake there, and it wasn't what I expected from a carrot cake dessert. One thing that stood out during the meal is that it feels like the kitchen may be constantly adjusting dishes -- moving sauces, changing presentations, tweaking things that didn't necessarily need fixing. In restaurants, sometimes the best move is to pick a lane and execute it consistently rather than continually modifying dishes that customers already liked. So here's the bottom line. Rumcow is not the Rumcow of yesteryear. Was the food terrible? No. But it was mostly meh, and that may be the most disappointing part. This used to be a place known for memorable dishes and small details done right. Right now it feels like a restaurant that has drifted away from what made it special. The atmosphere and service are still good, but the food just doesn't match the reputation it once had.

Lives up to its review **…read more we were originally on our way to a place Perla for oysters, our friend suggested it. I was looking at near by restaurants and decided to try seabird instead - as we wanted to come to the boardwalk anyways. I am so glad we changed our route to seabird. Venue: quite quaint than I thought but it is elegantly and uniquely presented. Food: ordered tuna crudo, short rib burger, eggs Benedict and of course the oysters. We loved every plate ordered. First oyster, super fresh, clean and exactly the type of oysters we are looking for. The condiments were made fresh and complimented the oysters very well. Burger was good- tender meat and seasoned well; this plate was ordered for my teen son- he said it was good but not worth $25 for a burger. Sturgeon eggs Benedict was cooked to perfection - perhaps one salt sprinkle away from absolute perfection but that's why the table salt is for. The shaved dill pickle it came with complimented The richness of the Benedict. The star of the show today for us the tuna crudo - oh my! What a complex taste - sweet, salty, savory, tangy, creamy and fresh- the savory tuna meets the sweet watermelon, fresh cucumber- spicy pepper with amazing watermelon cream dressing. I wanted to lick the whole sauce off the plate. Also ordered strawberry brownie icecream and I was in love! Creamy- not too rich or sweet - refreshing and perfect all in all, we all loved every bite. Service: exceptional service from entering the door to exiting. Our server was amazing. We are definitely coming back and recommending it to the friend who recommended us Perla

We had brunch at Seabird and, despite one memorable hiccup, it was another very good experience…read more My wife and I split the Spicy NC Shrimp Chilaquiles, and once everything arrived as intended, the dish was excellent. The funny part? The kitchen initially sent out the shrimp dish... without the shrimp. We had to ask for them to bring the missing shrimp, which they quickly corrected. I couldn't help but imagine Chef Gordon Ramsay standing in the kitchen shouting, "You served the shrimp dish without any shrimp, you muppet!" That alone was worth a chuckle. We sat at the bar, where service is usually outstanding. This time the bartender was clearly overwhelmed and stretched thin, so things moved a little slower than normal. Even so, everyone remained professional and friendly. Chef Dean Neff has set a very high standard here, and it's easy to understand why Seabird has received so much recognition and James Beard attention over the years. The food quality, creativity, and consistency continue to make it one of our favorite spots in Wilmington. A missing shrimp on a shrimp dish and slower-than-usual bar service keep this from being a perfect score, but neither issue was enough to spoil the meal.
