I love a good Bagel place. The cashier was not friendly but had on her Valentine regala. I figure the owner was prepping and making everything bagel. There was no good morning even from him. Im not a loyal customer but I heard about this place. It is tucked away in Mandarin. Bagels R us does have a kiosk to order. I love the fact that the owner lets customers view the orders before they go. I wanted a bagel so came to them for service. They do have a sitting area. Really poor experience. Order was incorrect, ordered eggs scrambled with cheese and they left of the cheese. To "fix" it, they put in uncooked American cheese slice on the egg. Bacon extremely greasy and inedible. We spent $35 on breakfast and ended up throwing everything away. Disappointed as this place used to be great, but has really gone downhill the past several months, this is a pattern of recent poor experiences. read more

Been coming two this and the Beach Blvd location since they opened, and it's normally a five star experience., so I feel bad having not reviewed them before only to post one now with a not great experience. Ordered a bagel with lox, onions, tomatoes, and cream cheese. Their first attempt came out with cream cheese and no lox. The second attempt came out with cream cheese and lox, but nothing else. Not a satisfying way to spend $14. was already in the car driving away after the second attempt, figuring it would be right by then. Quality control may need some attention. I've never had a bad experience ordering a breakfast sandwich bagel, so I'll probably going back to the old familiar when I go back. read more

You can order from a kiosk, order online or order n person (usually best for special orders or question's). So what are your bagel choices, well they run the gammit but our favorites are: Asiago Blueberry Plain There are plenty of other choices, plus you can get savory, sweet, eggs, sausage and of course cream cheese in multiple flavors. Next time I'll ask for extra toasting on my bagel as the first pass through is not to my liking but that's those things you learn on a first visit. John goes to the hobby shop a few doors down all the time, but never when Bagels R Us is open! The Bagel Art display on the wall made me smile- even if a few bagels had fallen off their mount. I went with an onion bagel and garlic herb cream cheese. I considered the bacon-cheddar cream cheese but the girl behind the counter told me the other one was better! Thanks for the tip. It's actually been a while since I had a big bagel! The cream cheese was lightly smeared on the bagel, but a huge ball of it was in the hole. This is starting to become a habit for me as the once a week trips to the office are becoming more regular. I've had a tomato and ham bagel melt on an everything and it was excellent. It's also very huge and something that can definitely be shared. Also, it is NOT something you should try to eat while driving. Nonetheless, fantastic and filling. My most recent trip I had the cinnamon crunch bagel toasted with plain cream cheese. I'll agree with Vanessa's review in that I would've liked it a little more toasted. I think toasting is not the norm for truly fresh bagels and I don't doubt their freshness, but I know what I like. To each his own, right? Extra toasty for me next time as well. read more

Pretty good bagel until I got a better look at my surroundings. There's black mold coming out of the top of the ice machine, black mold on the floor in the bathroom, cleaning supplies in the bathroom covered in grease, extremely dusty. The place needs a good deep clean. Probably won't be back until that's done, the health department needs to seriously consider going and checking that place out. read more

Tried this bagel shop today! Very convenient location on San Jose Blvd. Super cute and spacious on the inside. I ordered an everything bagel with lox & side orders of ham and bacon. So I'm from the north and it's hard to find the comforts of home in Jacksonville. When my wife said there's a new bagel shop I wasn't sure how I would feel. If you've ever had a real NY bagel, you know what I mean. We arrived at the shop around 11:00. They appeared to be pretty much out of everything. Luckily I wasn't feeling overly picky. A few months ago I tried Bagels R Us and my bagel sandwich came out super fast and was made perfectly. Also their prices are super reasonable especially considering the state of our economy and how fast prices have risen. It's always very clean and quiet which I love. My only complaint (back then) was that the staff was kind of hostile and seemed like they were mad at me for coming in to order a bagel. However, today is January 7 11 AM and the new staff is so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious just like last time and came out so quick I barely sat down before it was ready for me to grab. No matter how good the food is friendly staff always makes a difference so I'm very glad to have such a good experience today. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in the San Jose area. I rarely leave reviews because I forget but this bagel place is bomb. Their veggie cream cheese is incredible. The bagels are fluffy and incredible. The staff was so nice and when I asked for extra cream cheese they asked if they put enough before wrapping it up. I'm born and raised on Long Island so finding a good bagel spot I love in the south is rare. This place is 1000/10. My only complaint is they don't have egg everything bagels. This was our second time going here for food and was was quite yummy! We got the Lox Bagel Sandwiches, which were really good and they give you a ton of cream cheese. We did have to scrape some extra cheese off but the sandwiches were still great. We also got blueberry bagels and chocolate bagels to have at home, and they're also delicious. All of this cream cheeses are delicious too. We chose Apple Cinnamon for our bagels and it was so good. A nice little place for simple breakfast sandwiches. The menu is pretty big for a bagel spot they have: Bagels with assorted cream cheese Bagel sandwiches for lunch Bagel sandwiches for breakfast Bagel melts Full breakfasts with bagels on the side I wanted one of everything! We tried a bunch and everything was really good, my only gripe was we asked for the bagels toasted and they came just very lightly toasted...I like mine to be quite a bit more toasty! They are very generous with their delicious cream cheeses! We ate a some in the restaurant then brought it home where later I scraped off the cream cheese toasted the bagels more then added the cream cheese back on ohhhh man so delicious! I have been wanting to try this place for a while. A Bagel Shop tucked in a corner of a small plaza in the Mandarin area. Inside the place, they have 2 TV's and about 40 seats, give or take. This location opened just about 2 months ago. It is their 2nd location (other location is on Beach Blvd).   I heard one of the staff say the "F"  word. I love bagels. So I wanted to love this place but I only liked it. My nephew and I went for lunch, I got a bacon melt with hash browns and my nephew got a quesadilla with home fries. The home fries were the best part of both meals. The everything bagel had the right chew but was overly salty; I love the everything seasoning so much that I literally have a shaker of it so if I say it's too salty, that's saying something! The bacon was those thin strips with little taste or substance. Nothing special about any of it. My nephews quesadilla was large and he said it was cooked well but there was nothing special about it. The home fries were crispy outside and soft inside. I think they should focus more on their bagels. If they get that right, people will show up in droves. read more

I had some high hopes for finding a good bagel place in Jax on my side of town in Mandarin. I was ultimately disappointed here. Went on a Sunday morning and there was a decent line of people, which made me think it must be great. The line was long because they seemed to be short staffed. The person taking orders was super unfriendly and maybe she was just having a rough morning, I don't know. My mom wanted iced tea. She confessed she didn't brew any. My mom asked for hot tea (which is on the menu right overhead) and she said they don't sell hot tea. I ordered a coffee and it was a self serve station. Both kinds offered (light and dark roast) were terribly bitter and no amount of creamer would cut through it. I had to dump it outside and just refill with water. My toasted Asiago bagel wasn't bad. I enjoyed it. My moms whole grain oat bagel was barely toasted and the cream cheese was so hard it wouldn't spread. All in all, I don't think I'll be back. Best bagels we've found in the area! Sometimes you just want a huge New York bagel smothered in cream cheese and while you won't exactly find that here, this is the closest thing available in Jax. I recommend buying individual bagels with cream cheese if possible-- the dozen deal is economical but you have to buy at least 4 sides of cream cheese to be able to cover them all much lighter than they do with individual orders. Keep in mind they do run out so if you want a particular flavor, call ahead so they can reserve your order. We love the cinnamon crunch bagel with apple cream cheese but it seems to be the first to go on weekend mornings. Great now I want a bagel LOL read more

I work nearby, so I've only ever tried Bagels R Us for lunch. Unfortunately by noon it's always slim pickings on bagel flavors. I find their bagels a bit small, I usually order 2. But that being said, the staff is always super friendly, bagels are delicious, and an egg & cheese sandwich for $3.36 can't be beat. No more omelettes or French toast, home fries are different (this time ours didn't taste cooked or crispy like it used to be), they forgot the veggie cream cheese on the Asiago bagel, and the everything bagel for the fresh lox was hard as a rock.
