Had I only ever had that one sandwich, this would have been a four or five star review. However came back two days after and brought a friend. The difference two days makes. Sandwich was insanely over spiced. Couldn't finish it. Figured they just had an off day so gave them another chance. Spice was right, chicken was chewy. Carrots were soggy. Shame. The Baguette can only be described as God's greatest gift to the Corvallis community. I do not know how they do it, but they serve some of the most amazing and incredible food known to man. Loved this place. I had the bbq and my bf had the beef curry. Bbq was amazing! Flavor was great. I especially loved the pate there was a special sauce they added in this bbq banh mi that most banh mi's don't have. Whatever it was, it worked! I had a whole one to myself, and ordered an extra one for the road....and that extra banh mi didn't even make it home. Beef curry was a little funky (for my taste). One of our go-to lunch options. Always enjoyable. Made to order, so not quite "fast food" which is, imo, a good thing. Vietnamese family owned and operated. The flavors are modified _just_ enough to make them delicious for folks who grew up in the US. They make everything from the crisp pickled carrots to the baguettes. Choice of about 10 fillings with either white or wheat baguette, always fresh from the oven this morning (if you're late, they may have run out of the whole wheat). They are fond of cilantro, so if you're not, be sure to tell them to hold it. They have a half dozen two-person tables, and one or two larger tables, but if the weather is fine, you might prefer to take your sandwich to the river front just two blocks away (that's what we usually do). read more

While the menu may not be as extensive, nor the setting as enticing as some of the more stylized "dining experience" establishments in town, Baguette consistently puts out incredibly high quality food. They do so quickly in a comfortable space and, even when incredibly busy, the owners are kind, genuine, and striving to make sure you have a great experience. Here I am a year after writing my first review, and over ten years after first trying their food; I find myself inclined to spend some of my free time right now to reiterate that I absolutely still love this place and the family that operates it. I didn't mention in my first review but I always get the same thing (not that they don't have an awesome menu), their Original Baguette. I LOVE that they make their own bread, so I always know that it will be fresh and amazingly good. They are more than happy to add fresh Jalapenos for me when I ask, which I also love. More than anything though, they remember a familiar face. It makes me feel like I'm not just spending my money at a corporate place, and the relationship is mutual. My wife and I were worried we wouldn't be able to get used to Corvallis. You see, we're both born and raised in a city that has McDonalds and Wendy's fast food restaurants on every corner. So when we got to Corvallis and realized it wasn't like that here, we were a bit skeptical. Once I introduced her to Baguette, though, she managed to get out a few words in-between bites: "We're gonna be all right." Lol. Though some may disagree with me, I believe this restaurant is the very literal definition of a "hole in the wall". When you approach it, you'll notice it's on the side of a building. Imagine a huge brick wall, two stories high. Now imagine this wall had a small door in the middle of it. That's the entrance to Baguette. And inside this quaint little restaurant, it's about the size of my garage - maybe even smaller. There are two tables inside that really dont seat any one who is of average size. When we went, it was 8pm on a Thurs night and it was near empty. We ordered a couple of the original "Baguette" sandwiches($4 each) and a Pate Chaud to go. For those of you not familiar with Vietnamese sandwiches, it's generaly filled with pickled radishes and carrots, cucumbers, cilantro, and jalapenos along with your choice of meats. The original sandwich includes some Viet ham, head cheese (which tastes just great, thanks), pate, and some mayonnaise mix. The bread we ordered was white - we passed on wheat this time - and was a bit different from what we're used to. The baguettes we usually get are flaky and a bit hard sometimes. This was soft, but not too soft. It still had a little hint of crispiness. The mayonnaise was awesome. It's gotta be a homemade mix - some egg yolk and possibly some spices. Downright delicious. That night, our sandwiches were made on the spot. Good sign. We waited about 7-8 minutes for our take out, which was fine. We were not disappointed when we got back to the hotel. The lady behind the counter (possibly the owner?) was very friendly and quick to make our sandwiches. It's not on campus and it doesn't deliver, but if you're jonesing for a good sandwich, it's worth the short drive or moderate walk. GO GET ONE NOW! read more

This sandwich shop has the most delicious sandwiches in town. They have fantastic bbq pork bao, delicious coffee and tea, and the service is awesome. The family who owns this shop is so sweet. I come here whenever I want something reasonably priced, absolutely delicious, and refreshing. This shop has a special place in my heart and I've been coming here for years. The atmosphere is calming and the people here are always friendly. I reccomend the #6 grilled chicken and the #11 lemongrass tofu bahn mi. If you've never had pork bao I suggest you try it here!!
