I really wanted to give this place 5 (which usually is). Im 28 been coming here since I move to Corvallis 7 years ago. Haven't went in the last year because now I live in salem. The lady in the front is an old white lady. She is absolutely rude and impatient. I called and she told me I don't know how to speak clear instead of asking me or telling me they don't understand. I ordered chicken teriyaki bowl I got beef. I still ate it to avoid complaints. My wife went to ask for sauce cus there was none and the lady looked at her and made her feel dumb for not knowing the sauces they had. Instead of asking her which on or explaining the ones they have. There was an Asian that use to work the front that was so kind and sweet. I don't know why this worker was impatient. I work hard for my money and was driving through and specifically stopped here on the way to the coast. I still think the food was amazing but really bothered my evening that family had to experience that. I may even have a review from years ago applauding this place. read more

After hearing many good things about the food, we decided to try out Young's Country Kitchen. We were impressed with the variety of offerings, as well as with how quickly our order was ready! The omurice was delicious, and the large portion size was a great deal, at under $12! About a month after our initial in-person visit, we were excited to find Young's Country Kitchen on Doordash. We ordered the tteokbokki bowl and the teriyaki tofu bowl and both were good! My only issue is that the teriyaki tofu bowl was a little bland and dry, so I had to add some teriyaki sauce I had at home. After adding the sauce it was enjoyable, but had I not been at home I wouldn't have been able to do that. I'll definitely be back, since there's a vast menu I have yet to explore. I established we visit Corvallis regularly from LA, since my son is spending my money...er, studying at Oregon State. We try to find local restaurants to support local business, we've generally been happy with what we've found. Young's Country Kitchen is no exception, we really enjoyed our meal! The cuisine is quite good and authentic. The bibimbap had a good balance of beef and veggies, the chap chae also nicely done. My son enjoyed his bulgogi, good flavor and tender beef. We were a bit curious as to why our son ordered the sweet-and-sour chicken, but as always he knew what he was doing (at least with food). The chicken has the right amount of batter, there was still nice chunks of meat, plus the dish wasn't drowned in sauce. What really impressed me are the "minor" features that add up. The chili sauce with the bibimbap was tasty with a mild, not overwhelming kick (it may not be homemade, but it complimented the dish properly). The rice is very good, with generous portions. I wish I'd have purchased some kim chee to go with it. The miso soup is good, white miso, very appreciated on a cold day. Our family has been there before, and we plan on returning. My next try will be the Kim chee fried rice. read more

I remember when I heard that Young's Kitchen was opening back up. Yay! I really miss the days when they were on Monroe before their landlord basically kicked them out. C'mon - a mon-and-pop Korean shop is WAY better than a sandwich chain. I missed the (barely fermented but spicy) kimche available if you want. I missed sharing the large tables with other diners. I miss the funky booths. And then I heard - they are back! It's far out of my way, so I don't get there too often. There's not really a good place to sit and eat. But the food? Still great. This was a hard review to write because I easily could have gone with fewer or more stars. More stars because the food is still good and the portions are large. More stars because I know the history of the place. Fewer stars though because I have to take a polystyrene container since they don't have ceramic to eat off anymore. If I bring it home, it's not hot when I get home. Sometimes that delicious hot and spicy squid spills out of the container on the way home. Fewer stars because even though I asked for extra kimche, the forgot to add ANY to my order. I also would really love it if I could get a HALF ORDER of just about all the items. I don't want to eat that much. I observe most of the people in line are... larger than I am. If you have a BIG appetite, you'll be pleased. I'd love to go more often and get a smaller "child size" portion. Are you listening Young's? Good food. Friendly service. Corvallis tradition. Less than ideal seating. Don't like the packaging. The japchae and kimchee fried rice were delicious! One son got the beef bulgogi which he liked and the other got the Sweet and Sour Chicken. I didn't think the latter would be any good because why would you order a pseudo Chinese dish at a Korean joint? However, the breading was light and the chicken meaty and my son enjoyed it. I ordered the bibimbop. It's always better served piping hot in a stone bowl, so I should have ordered something else. But it was fine for what it was. Everything we ordered was solid. Came here today because it was highly recommended by several people. They have a nice range of Asian themed rice plates/bowls and appetizers. Parking is very limited with only about three spots, which is also taken up by the employees. Hours are limited. Seating is also very limited with only one table. Not an issue if you take your food to go. Ordered the sweet-and-sour rice plate, which had zero vegetables, but was a nice big portion, it also came with a salad. Knew this place and current owners since way back being a student at OSU. It used to be called Young's kitchen on Monroe street across the street from Gilbert Hall (chemistry). They were a mainstay for quick and cheap lunch/dinner and yummy korean food. They used to be called Youngs Kitchen but with change in ownership the name changed a bit too, that's fair. Food is still amazing and everything made fresh and hot. Prices still very affordable but hours do vary so make sure you check! Honestly sooo yummy. I feel like being from hawaii has made me pretty snobby when it comes to asian food- especially cause the korean aunties at home are so skilled. So you can trust me But regardless, Youngs is bomb. It was so good that I dove into my plate without considering a picture first. The bulgogi is tender and filled with flavor like it should be and was pretty substantial in terms of size. Additionally, I loved the kimbap! Oh this place is SO good! And they give you so much food. I got this for the first time on the way back home from work. I would always pass by it but never considered stopping by because it looked like they were always close. They have actual business hours though! I had a kimchi rice and bulgogi beef plate. This food truck on the corner of 53rd and Harrison serves up fresh Korean and Asian dishes, and is an excellent addition to the fledgling food truck industry in Corvallis. We liked everything that we ordered: Bulgogi, chicken teriyaki, hot and spicy pork, Bibimbap, and gyoza. There's a covered picnic table, or you can wait in your car for takeout. I have had almost everything on the menu at one time or another, and nothing has been less than really good. The servings are generous, two orders could feed 3 people, maybe more depending on appetites. Kimchi fried rice is a go to side for about anything, and could be a meal in itself. I hope I don't spoil a good thing by saying that they have Katsu chicken on Saturdays, until they run out. Always good. They are the nicest folks, too. read more

I've been a fan of Young's since undergrad when they were still a shop right off campus. I'm glad they were able to continue on in some way. They even recognized me 3 years after the storefront closed when I came back. Their food is definitely a big reason for me to come back to Corvallis. That said, don't expect the world and set your expectations accordingly. It is a food cart in a college town. It is great Korean comfort food at a reasonable price. No other place has omurice (omelette rice, literally a thin omelette on top of chicken fried rice with the option of adding ketchup to it) like they do. I can't find it anywhere else even in Portland. It's such a simple dish that I keep coming back for. They also have a kimchi omurice for those who want a little bit of spice and kimchi flavor to it. read more

This place is a Corvallis treasure and was hugely missed during it's three year hiatus after being pushed out of their long-time Monroe Street location so that a generic chain sandwich shop could move in. For over 20 years their Hot and Spicy Pork, fried rice, Bulgogi, and Chicken Katsu were lunchtime favorites of mine, and now they are back! We were camping at the Benton County Fairgrounds next door and were surprised to see this cute food truck parked outside the corner market just outside the gate. We tried the food for convenience, but went back for the flavor. Wow! So delicious! We had the kimchi fried rice, the teriyaki chicken, and the crispy fried gyoza dumplings, all of which were very tasty. I also highly recommend the bento box, which we had with the bulgogi beef. It came with some great accompaniments, including the kimchi, some pickled daikon, and little omelet rolls that were delicious. When I asked the friendly young guy who took our order who was cooking behind him, he introduced his mom. Super nice folks! So go here for tasty food, to support a great local family business, and also because you can pop into the store next door to grab a tasty can or bottle of cold frothy adult beverage, which went perfectly with the great food.
