It's the 4th of July so the risk of it not being open was high. Fortunately for us it was open. Prior to arrival, I did read some of the negative reviews and the owner's colorful responses, which made me want to come even more. I've actually never seen owners/managers reply with such honesty. They usually are trying to brown nose you..."I'm sorry about your experience. What can I do to make it better?" To debunk one of the comments: no they do not sneak in the tip. If you pay with credit card it says "no tip" or the usual 15-25% option. If you're hungry for a perfectly made bagel, the way they should be made, this is the place go! read more

Found it on Yelp while in the hotel Room wondering what to grab for breakfast. It is tucked away especially with the road construction but worth the effort. Open concept and well lit. Staff was friendly and quick to get my food and coffee to me. Bagel had the right 'tooth' to it and portion was generous. read more

On the corner of 1st street near the bridge. Plenty of parking spots out front. Tip: parking doesn't start until 9 so free parking if you're here early! Plenty of bagel choices, spread options, and their combos. They supply bagels to the nearby shops so I knew in advance that they are very solid. Got a jalapeño bagel and a cheese bagel, both with salmon spread. Whatever you do, whatever is your preference of bagel flavor, get the salmon spread. It's incredible. The bagels are solid. That nice slight crunch on the outside and the chew on the inside (but not too much that it makes your jaw hurt). Salmon spread is solid and they did not skimp on the amount they put on, it was open faced and falling out on both sides. Ended up getting a bakers dozen of their bagels and some spread to go. The lattes were middle of the pack. Good for a coffee fix, but I think overall I would come here for bagels and coffee elsewhere. read more

My favorite things here are the peanut butter cookies and their coffee. They make great coffee. Even their drip coffee is yummy. But the cookie is so scrumptious. It is not to be skipped. I have also had bagels, and they do a decent job, but I feel the other bagel spot in town does a better job. Bagels are very personal, though, so you should try both places! I really love that they offer a salt bagel, I just like a bit more chewy on the inside bagel. The space itself is one of the best in town. It's so adorably filled with plants for cozy little cuteness. The even have a shared bookshelf. So take a book or read a book. The staff stay busy pumping out the bagels, so you'll get a smile and a thank you. It's great to go too because you can sit in the park by the river. read more

This bagel shop tucked away on a side street in Corvallis was the perfect spot for a Sunday morning coffee and bagel. I ordered an onion bagel with cream cheese and lox, and a latte. Growing up in New York, I'm very picky about my bagels. This one was delightful, with the right amount of crust and chew and flavor from the onion. A generous amount of smoked salmon was a welcome sight. My only complaint, I wish they went a little heavier with the cream cheese. The latte was smooth and rich, nothing bitterness, probably a better cup of coffee than I expected. The vibe was chill and the staff was friendly. I will be back! read more

Great ambiance at this bagel shop. Service was fast as the line moved quickly and the toasted bagels came out quickly after ordering. My one quibble is that the cream cheese was a little thin, especially on a toasted bagel where it became just too liquidy. I prefer more solid cream cheese. We have been here twice while visiting our daughter at OSU. We have enjoyed the experience both times. Everything was fresh and well made and the staff were incredibly friendly to all the patrons...especially the ones who may have needed extra time ordering and making their coffee. Pros: first the bagels are boiled and baked how it should always be (so many spots only bake and it shows) second is they respected the shmeer iykyk Cons: first, no bacon or eggs in this spot which as a lover of a bacon egg and cheese it let me down that they didn't have anything like that. The girls behind the counter need to be taught some customer service skills. I ordered a bagel and asked to toast it and add butter. They charged me $2.25 to add butter! What a bummer. We were so excited to finally try this place and it was a big let down. Very disappointed that our fancy bagels didn't have a toasted option? Can't imagine eating a bagel raw and cold again. My wife's hummus and cheese bagel was bland. My tomatoes tasted like they had been frozen over night or they were old. I was highly disappointed with my experience at Kinetic Bagel Institute. As mentioned in other reviews, the bagels were served cold, untoasted, and were most certainly not fresh. We arrived first thing in the morning, and I would have expected the bagels to be at least warm, if not freshly toasted. When my husband politely asked for a toasted bagel, the ladies behind the counter whispered to each other and smirked, which we found to be extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. As if that wasn't enough, I strongly advise you to check your bill carefully. The tip is automatically added without your knowledge, and there is no clear posting anywhere in the establishment informing customers of this practice. While it may be legal, it's a very unpleasant and sneaky approach, and this is why I'm leaving a one-star review. read more

Came about an hour before closing and they still had all their bagels available. The ambiance was super nice and clean which is always good. The people working were also very nice too. I got a cheese bagel with their cream cheese and like a guacamole mixture and it was really good. I also got five bagels to go which I'm excited to eat this week. It is my opinion that they need a website and contact information online (email address, phone number, etc.) If these do exist they are not easy to find. If they opened a little earlier on the weekend, that would not hurt either. They could be a good stop on the way out to enjoying the many outdoor activities available in Oregon. I love bagels and was intrigued with the combinations they offered. The bagels are ok and the reason for the 3 stars (Vs higher) comes down to a few things ... The bagels are not toasted as they put your order together. Wish they had asked if we'd like our bagels toasted or not as we didn't realize we needed to ask. The peanut butter and jam sandwich is a jar of Jif and store bought jam. Nothing wrong with either of that, but for such a cute place with creative combinations and huge potential, thought maybe the jam would be home made (as many of the restaurants have their own jam) or the peanut butter made on premise. This is the third time that I've ordered food and they've forgotten something or screwed up the order. When you walk down on a Saturday through the market to have a bagel because your wife wants one and make the effort at least they could double check the order not to screw it up.. at this point I've driven home and it makes no sense to go back for a friggin bagel. When you try to call the phone doesn't work. It's very frustrating to spend the kind of money that we spend today on food and forced or give tips and then things get screwed up. Unfortunately this place fell short of my expectations. Coming from the east coast, I was extremely disappointed when I tasted their bagels. Bagels were so tough that my jaws felt sore the next day after eating two of their bagels. I tried the everything bagel with pesto spread: the bagel was extremely salty and tough, could barely taste the pesto flavor in the spread. Also tried their garlic bagel with Sriracha spread: the spread itself was actually very tasty and garlic bagel flavor was decent but again the bagel was very hard. I am used to the soft and chewy bagels from east coast and will not be back here again. read more

We love kinetic bagel & their variety of spread flavors. However my constant upset is the lack of consistency. Depending on which worker makes your bagel, it will be different everytime. Tomatoes barely cover the bagel and feel very thick. Green onion toppings are placed on the top (which I understand as a garnish) however they fall off completely when biting into your bagel. Flavor is never an issue though!! It always tastes delicious I just wish employees made the bagels and additives across the board! read more

Delicious bagels with a texture I haven't had before- a really nice, firm outer skin. I assume the outer part of the bagel is why they don't toast them, but I can't be sure. The best traditional style bagel ever! Their spreads are excellent and you have to try the Lox with the works. The staff are efficient and friendly to all and the decor is interesting with lots of eclectic furnishings and beautiful plants. What great bagels! It seems like all other bagels made these days are Wonderbread in the shape of bagels. Soft and tasteless. KBI has great taste and texture. I live in Florida and was in Corvallis visiting my sister when she took me to KBI. I had a toasted sesame bagel with butter. Yummy!! I ended up taking a dozen bagels home to FL. I'd much rather eat a KBI bagel from the freezer than a fresh Lender's bagel or one from Einstein's. Today I am back home and it is my 70th birthday.
