One of the best snow cones I've had...takes a while, but they apparently shave the ice when you order...

I usually really enjoy the shaved ice from this place. However, today I had to throw both of our snowballs away. The order was simple enough but they seemed a little confused at the window because we had one with 2 flavors. The middle of the ice was full of salt and absolutely disgusting. Why would there be so much salt inside of a snowball???? Both of us absolutely felt ill and disgusted upon discovering this. Imagine enjoying a nice cold drink and then taking a sip of pure icy salt. What the heck? What the hell is in this??? And to think i went out of my way to get one on my way home from work, so very annoyed. Yup not going back to this location again. Came to Bahama Bucks ordered 3 BABY sized FLAT TOP Snow Cones and they literally took 45 mins for them to give me my order! When we went to ask after 30 mins passed by the guy at the register how much longer is was going to be he said "idk I only make smoothies" their was people already waiting inside for way longer than I was. Well...I have given this location so many chances, but they just can not get it right consistently. I have purchased no less than 20 shaved ice cups and have had issues with half of them. I dont blame the workers who are primarily teenagers. I blame management or the lack of. It is poor management that is the root problem. They clearly have not mastered a system for service or for quality. One day you will get your order in 5 minutes with extra syrup that you did not order, the next day it will take 25 minutes in drive thru for the same order with a shortage of syrup when you ask for extra. Another example of poor management happened when I visited to purchase a gift card for a friend and the kid at the register said she couldn't sell the card because the manager was gone and she didn't know how to ring it up! So I literally called another location and asked them to tell her how to ring up the gift card!!! OMG Ridiculous is an understatement! You would think that this simple product (ice & syrup) would be easy. Nope. Not at this location. Wrong is the motto! I advise you to go to a different location if you want Bahamas Bucks!!! Geez...I am just tired of being patient with the 529 location. Shame on the management. read more

The time I came here the owner was working.First off, She took too long just to make one snow and when she gave me my order it had her long blonde hair in it.I asked her to make me a new one if possible and she did but then she MESSED THAT ONE UP.Also she was very rude to her employees and talked to them in a way that was belittling.Horrible! read more

Born and raised in New Orleans I grew up on snoballs. This is certainly a good close second. The ice is super fine. Flavor is good. I got wedding cake. Where do we start. I just sat in the drive thru line for 30 minutes. That by itself is ridiculous. The employees are rude and inattentive. This is the second time I have tried this location. The first time we went inside, and still had to wait about half an hour even though there were no other customers present inside or out. Just a bad experience altogether both times and there will not be a third chance at this location. It's almost ruined Bahama Buck's for me completely. read more

Bahama Bucks is awesome! Fun family atmosphere and lots of yummy flavors. They also have seating outside and a drive-thru if you'd rather take your shaved ice home. They pile them high so if you are taking it to-go, order it "flat top" which is upsized but flattened so it doesn't spill. read more

So maybe I'm not suppose to go to this establishment because I continually have inconsistent service. I ordered a drink....was charged for the sauce to go on it. It wasn't put on...and when I asked the young lady if it was put in the middle as well, as I had paid for and asked for....she assured me that it was. But of course it wasn't. Then to top it off... Love their sno-cones, but dislike their service. We went around 9:10 p.m. on a Tuesday. They had their doors locked and were looking like they were ready to go. They told us to go through drive through, we were the only ones there and they took about 25 mins just to give us watery sno-cones. Not the first time I experienced bad customer service. read more

Came with my 2 kids and ordered 2 small snow cones. Noticed after we ordered that no one else in the dining area had their order. Not a good sign. While the cars going through the drive thru were served, we waited 44 minutes. 44 minutes for some syrup to be poured over ice. I started complaining after 20 minutes and the 10, yes 10 employees could have cared less. My son finally got his after 44 minutes, 10 minutes later my daughter got hers. I've been coming to this bahama buck's for 4 years now and ordered the same thing and it was always good either a regular grape or a smoothie but today was a different day.......i came in around 8:30-9:00 and THIS WAS THE BEST TIME EVER!! i came in and felt so welcomed and made me feel so good inside. Ussualy love this place but you to tend to get ignored alot. I had ordered a snow cone and it wasn't the flavor I ordered. When I walked back to the counter one person apologizes while everyone else argued about who's turn it was to mix the flavors.....it tooo 20 min for me to get my new snow cone. Since trying this place time I have been back three time! Growing up I always loved sno-cones with the soft shaved ice, but there are no to many spots that have the right shaved ice for the best sno-cones, but Bahama Bucks has it perfect. The ice is so soft and refreshing in this Houston heat. My first visit I had the strawberry coloda, and sadly I haven't tried anything else. It's the perfect combination of fruity and tropical ..ahh I love it!! The staff is always really kind .. students/school age kids trying to get some coinage for the summer, not mad at that at all. Drive thru service is always fast.i haven't made it inside yet but always feel so cool and smells like the kool cup ladies house (my childhood memories) lol! I'm sure that foreign to some of you. I went in on a Sunday night and there were 5 employees "working." One lady was actually making an order for the drive thru I assume but everyone else was just walking around. Once I figured out what I wanted I stood at the register. The employees just walked by me, never acknowledged me. One lady even looked me in my eyes as she passed by and never said a word. Once I realized that I wouldn't get any help I grabbed my purse from the counter and left. I got in my car and the employees huddled up and started talking. So that told me, they had no intentions on assisting me. I was the only customer inside the entire time so I'm not sure what kept them too busy to assist. I didn't even want to give this location 1 star. Every time I come it takes forever. Today I waited 35 minutes in the drive thru line and there were only two cars in front of me. My snow cone was also dry in the middle. Come on it's not hard to make snow cones it shouldn't take this long to go through the drive thru. This location needs help. I love everything about Bahama Bucks except for the staff. I go to two locations: the one off 529 and the one off Fry and Clay Rd. Both locations have very incompetent workers. I've been going to either location at least once a week for the past several months and they have managed to mess up my order EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I'm not exaggerating. They've messed up my order in some way EVERY time. Either they are being trained poorly, or they are honestly that incompetent and don't pay any attention. I also have never posted a review on Yelp, but have been so dissatisfied with my experience every single time that I felt compelled to see if anyone else has been having this issue. I will continue to go to Bahama Bucks, ONLY going inside the store so I can watch them make it and fix any errors along the way, because I am a huge fan of shaved ice, the crème, and sour sand and hope that one day they have better training managers. read more
