I've been going to this liquor store, mainly for Lottery and a quick refreshment for many years. Mainly, because of the location is convenient if I'm going to Safeway or headed home from work, however, I think I'm just going to go out of the way and go to the liquor store that's on El Monte instead. The owner is the friendliest and most welcoming when you go to their store, it's clean and he doesn't give you dirty looks, like you're being a bother to them when you ask a simple question. Almost every single time that I've purchased something at Bailey's the same 2 guys behind The Counter are extremely rude and condescending. The only one that seems to be nice is the shorter Hispanic man, he is always friendly but the other two guys that are there the majority of the time should not be in Customer Service. I asked a simple question about a Lottery timeline that I've never asked before, he points to a sign and rudely says it's right there instead of just saying the time. It's just one example every single time I've gone in there. I try to smile and strike up a conversation but they're just very blunt and rude. It's like they don't like female customers is the impression that I get, maybe it's just a culture thing I don't know. They just look like they want to get you out the door as fast as possible. I was always raised to say thank you and I say thank you even when I'm purchasing something I've never heard them say thank you once. Last comment on the lottery tickets, they get in a huff thanks for if you're deciding on which ticket and they have to "bend a little further" they say "let me know all at once so I don't have to bend twice" OMG!. I've never heard such a response from a merchant, it's not like they're working hard behind The Counter. A little exercise would be good for them. I've never left such a blunt review, but I just had it with these two guys that are so rude & condescending. I won't be back again, rather drive an extra 10-15 minutes to El Monte. Reading some of the other reviews, I get the same impression. For the business Owner, you really should look at your staff and how they treat people nothing is guaranteed and times are tough right now with people spending money you don't want negative employees representing your store. The Bailey shopping center as a Whole has really went downhill and you have drug addicts that hang out in front of the store, so no one will go there past daylight. I would try to retain the customers that you do have & be nicer. read more

This is truly the best liquor store in my area!! I always look forward to going to Bailey Liquor store. Rag and his staff are incredibly friendly and always make you feel welcome when you walk in. I've been coming to this place casually for years and all of my experiences have been fine until today. They had labeled beers with discounts 2 for 8.99 and 2 for 10.99. $32 when I check out to pay and told the cashier. He called his boss and said that label was for another beer even though they were the same name. Said he'd give me the discount for 2 for 8.99 and it came out to $12 so they just lie about their prices in some cases here so watch out. I told the cashier again and he seemed unbothered read more

Nothing special about this place. It's a liquor store with all the thing you didn't know you needed. Sadly, it's dark, dingy, and not very clean. Chocolate candies are melted, chip bags have stains on them, and the place smells more like a smoke shop than anything else. Again, it's a liquor store. I used to come here everyday as I worked near by sometimes I would come in on my break or lunch time. Sometime coming in after work too. customer service was great and friendly they were a lovely couple. it changed ownership a couple years ago it went down hill from there. These people make the store inside look like ghost town and they are not friendly people. They rip off customers of their change and cash. I mean really hope they get bought out and ownership changes to friendly people rather then these stiff stuck up money hungry stooges. I wish I could give this a zero star. read more

LOVE this place - they have the lotto ticket check if you won machine right by the front door. it is my fav place for lotto purchases... and cashing in my winner tickets. This liquor store is WELL stocked with all the things you would think it should have. Mountain View NATIVES vs. NEWBIES: Mountain View newbies use their cell phone GPS systems to find Safeway on Shoreline Blvd. There, they buy WAY overpriced ciggies & alcohol in long, long lines. Mountain View natives know their way cold to the Liquor store next door, pick up their beer & pay their bills in less than 5 minutes flat. I used to work at Bailey Liquors, and watched all the newbies in Hybrids going to Safeway to buy cigarettes for $6 /pack, a handle of Absolut for $23.99, a 12-pk of Corona for 15.64.......... PUNKED!! Meanwhile, the locals would come into Bailey's next door, we'd ring up their purchases before they even plunked them onto the counter. Pack o' Camels: $3.79. Handle of Absolut: $22.99. 12-pack Corona: $13.99. Then they'd pay their bills here. Here's the Public Service Announcement portion, for all the MV newbies-- you can PAY YOUR BILLS at Bailey Liquors! This includes: PG&E Comcast AT&T Verizon Cingular, and more. Some of the companies charge $1-2 service fees, but PG&E, Comcast, AT&T are always free. Bailey Liquors is one of the only authorized payment centers on the Peninsula. Remember this, next time you are overdue on your payment. But, bring your bill stub with you and avoid rush hour (5-6pm) or else all you'll get will be some Asian girl with dreadlocks shaking her head sympathetically at you. Try to pick up sumthin extra, like a 40oz. while you're there, cuz the store makes zilch off your bill (it's just a way to get folks thru the door). Do not buy loose Drum or American Spirit tobacco here! I bought a pack of each, and then promptly went to return them because the tobacco was bone dry. Obviously the packs had been lying around the store for quite some time. No big deal, I thought, I'll just run over and exchange them for some Bali Shag, and see how that is. No such luck, though... When I got to the store, the clerk advised me to talk to the owner, who then made a HUGE deal about it (he was thinking and frowning as if this is a really complicated problem), finally said that they couldn't exchange tobacco due to anti-counterfeit measures (?!). I explained that I should get a refund because the product was not up to standard. It wasn't that I had somehow changed my mind or something. Instead of just giving me some fresh tobacco, and getting on with it, he whined about how he would lose money (yeah, never mind that I, the customer, had lost money!), until I had enough, and just left.
