Even though we get the majority of our groceries off Sanibel. We always end up at Bailey's and Jerry's, the two markets on the island, several times during the week. We like both markets, however I prefer the pastries at Bailey's. We tried a raspberry pastry and a cheese one. Both were delicious. read more

We purchased some items and amongst our items we bought the Bailey's General Store brand of salsa, Queso Extreme & Ghost Chili Salsa (very spicy!!!). Their store made products are fresh and amazing. Oh my goodness, what an amazing store! From the parking lot, I wasn't sure what we were in for, but walking in the door I was truly amazed! I've never been in the store with so many friendly employees and the meat and produce was so fresh. There's a coffee shop and a hardware store attached, I could've spent the whole day wondering around. The man in the meat market told me that they are the oldest grocery store in Florida, over 170 years old. If you need groceries, baked goods, deli items, prepared food, this is the place to come on Sanibel Island. I will definitely be back again! read more

Spent a week at the resort on Captiva Island and traveled to Sanibel to find groceries. Not only is the merchandise varied, produce was fresh and the bakery was magnificent. A must try is the cold brew coffee at their coffee bar. Fresh fruit smoothies are delicious. There is a hardware store/gift shop connected. read more

Very nice, well kept and clean. The bakery is the hidden gem. Do not be fooled that this place is a grocery store with a grocery store bakery. They know what they are doing. The employees were very friendly and genuinely seemed happy to be there and help serve you. The variety was great, and everything seemed very fresh. We ordered croissants and milk chocolate fudge. When I ordered the fudge, the employee let me know that was an excellent choice and one of there most popular items. She said that she was surprised that there was even any milk chocolate fudge left at that time of morning. (About 11am). read more

Their business is their customers and it shows! It's wonderful see the deli and bakery team all work together helping people. We stopped in for coffee, bagels, donuts and sandwiches. Popped in to pick up some groceries after supper. It was a well stocked grocery with prices not much higher than off island. The have a nice bakery and excellent produce. They didn't have a pharmacy but did stock many over the counter meds- good thing cause we needed some Imodium fast. I'd shop here again! read more

I visited this 3 times during my stay at Sanibel. I couldn't ask for more friendly helpful employees. Always a friendly hello from a worker on each visit. They have a great selection of meals and healthy items to chose from as well as a large wine store and gift store. I found the perfect magnet for my fridge to remember the trip by and a tasty wine to enjoy beach side as I watch the beautiful sunsets. read more

Wish I could give six stars; don't understand the reviews that were satisfied and only gave four A little pricey on some things? Well they have a great variety and may only order a few of some things, then they have to be transported to the island. But, many times their SALE food items beat out all the big chains on the mainland and quality is always high. Also I have found household and hardware items I couldn't find anywhere else in the area, including WalMart, target, lowes and home depot. Great place with wonderful people. Twice my son was given a fresh cookie from the bakery by different staff as we were walking by. The butcher gave us a bit of seasoning for our steaks at no charge. The store just has a yesteryear feel to it which I really enjoyed. Definitely recommend. read more

love this place! just get something, anything, it all looks so good! (and we've yet to be disappointed) better yet, go to their deli, have them make your choice of sandwich, then take it to the beach, what a lunch! was happy to discover this year that the coffee bar is improving, previously no matter what i ordered, i would end up with a mediocre cup of coffee. i normally prefer black coffee, sometimes extra black with shots of espresso, and finally this year i found the secret : get their drip coffee, but have them put a shot (or more) of their cuban in it. We had a wedding on Captiva Island and ordered a wedding cake with cup cakes and 2 small cakes on the top and a birthday cake from them. The wedding cake icing was so think we had to saw at it to cut it the cupcakes were dry and not good at all. For a wedding cake you would think they would have measured the toppers and made sure they fit instead of them falling off the side of the top of the cake. The birthday cake very similar quality. They should look at what kind of cake mix and icing they are using, it is not good, box cake mix would have tasted better. We threw our entire wedding cake, cupcakes and birthday cake in the trash, it was not worth taking home. We would not recommend them at all for their cakes. read more

I try to get to Bailey's a couple times when visiting family on the island. The fresh strawberry-orange juice is amazing and worth the visit on its own but I just love the girls at the coffee bar! I can get a variety of hot or cold beverages and they are just so nice when I can't make up my mind over the abundant tea and coffee drink choices offered. The market is an island gem and there really is no reason to leave unless you have to go home! That happens on occasion. read more

This is by far a great place with an island, country store feel, a place where they enjoy you being there, and will alternatives if what you're looking for is elsewhere. After hurricane Irma, Fort Myers was a bit of a mess and none of the grocery stores near by were even open due to not having any power. I came out to the island to check on the store I work at and stopped by Bailey's for some ice. It was like nothing had ever happened! Bailey's was stocked with fresh produce, meats and even fresh seafood! They really delivered in a time of need for the surrounding area. read more

Personally I would say go to Jerry's. Although other reviews may disagree we just went to Bailey's on a recent trip and I found the store to be just ok and the prices were actually higher than Jerry's for what we bought. The produce was not good and overall the store just wasn't that great. read more

What an absolute rip-off, Smart Water $1.69-$1.99 in Boston is $5.59 in Bailey's. I also bought a 6 pack of small bottles normally $4.99-$5.99 in Boston but here it was $10.99. Plan accordingly! read more

I only rated it a 3 because the produce department is not very helpful. when I asked for a certain type of lettuce I got a responds form a guy ! it's my first day I have no idea! wrong answer. you should say it's my first day and I will go find out or get someone who knows! then my eggs were broken when I went to check out and instead of asking the bag boy to run get me a new pack of eggs. she told me to go get them myself!! now the bakery is the best on the island. very polite helpful and best bake goods on island! that department will go way out of there way to help you! love baileys but the rest of the store needs some training and management ! read more

I have to admit that I was somewhat afraid to enter a general store to buy groceries on Sanibel Island. I traveled here with a car loaded full of supplies, knowing that anything I had to purchase here would be way overpriced. I went there when I needed a few things, and left with three bags of food for $53.00. Their grocery prices were inline with stores on the mainland. My advice: save some space in your vehicle and buy most of your food items here. My five hour trip across Florida would have been far more comfortable if I had received this advice before stuffing my car with coolers and bags of food. read more

Service is super great, cashier was one of the nicest we have ever experienced anywhere. Prices are super high which can be expected I guess since it's on an island. What We can get for $60-70 onshore was about $140 here. So if money is not a top issue I would recommend Bailey's for sure as its very convenient location and service is top notch. Otherwise if you are staying for week or two, go over causeway and shop once for whole week and you can save 40-50%. Key Lime Pie was very good if you like, kind of worth the $14.99 read more
