I have to give 1 star because zero isn't an option. One star is actually a compliment for this…read moredoctor's office. I am taking the time to write this review for anyone who may be considering visiting this office for the first time. If you are looking for a doctor who will listen, show compassion, and show genuine care for your well-being; you might want to consider a different doctor. As all of us are trying to just make it through what is considerably a tough time, visiting a doctor who has poor bedside manner just adds to list of things that makes these tough times worse. My parents recently visited Dr. Hiltz' office and from what I've been told it was a terrible experience. My father's health is not, and has not been well for many years; and as a result, he has had numerous visits to the doctor and even more overnight stays in the hospital. Although he and my mom are fervently working towards a solution; meeting Dr. Hiltz only added to his problems both physically and emotionally. During the time that my father visited, he expressed to Dr. Hiltz that his entire body was in pain, to which the doctor replied, "there's nothing I can do about that" as he waved his hand in total disregard. During the visit, my mother requested a referral for my dad to see an endocrinologist and the request was denied without justification. At the end of the appointment, my parents were escorted out of the office through the back door, not through the front entrance; and this was strange and somewhat offensive. My mom is my father's caregiver and during the visit, she asked if she could ask questions; and she was told by Dr. Hiltz that he would only discuss bloodwork with her. He also told her that other than discussing bloodwork, "he didn't want to hear anything she had to say". This was extremely rude and also offensive. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. There are several other reviews about the lack of quality care that support this review. Other reviews about his office can be found in Google maps.

Being a military veteran, I'm used to doctors just scoffing and telling me to suck up whatever issue is causing me pain. I'm too young to have real injuries in a lot of their eyes. This man is 100% the opposite. I'd go to bat for the guy any day of the week and twice on Sunday. It's hard to build a business in downtown St. Pete, and I respect what he's doing. Go see him if you've got any musculoskeletal issues keeping you from normal activity or sleep or anything like that. He's not just a good doctor, he's a good man.

I decided to try a different route. I started working with Alliance 2 months after my accident. I was in significant pain, was weak, and had very limited mobility. There were so many movements that would take my breath away (reaching for seat belt, getting dressed, etc...). I started PT with Dr. Brian and was able to gain some mobility back. However, the intense pain did not allow me to increase my strength. After speaking with Dr. John, I decided to undergo PRP/Stem cell treatments in both shoulders and my neck. It worked! Eight weeks post-treatment, I was able to lift light weights with both arms in various directions with no pain. I have been an athlete my entire life, and not being able to work out has been terrible. Today, for the first time since my accident, I swam! It felt so amazing!! Plain and simple -- Dr. Brian and Dr. John put me on the road to recovery. The combination of PT and the PRP/Stem treatment worked as discussed. If you're looking for an alternative to surgery -- it's worth a visit to see if other treatments would work!! I had lost all hope when the ortho read my MRI and said surgery was the only way!! But Dr. John and Dr. Brian gave me hope ... and a new beginning!! I am beyond thankful :)

I'm 27 and have struggled with autoimmune…read moredisorders, stomach problems, mental health concerns, chronic fatigue, and more for years. I knew I shouldn't be so uncomfortable in my own body at such a young age. I was referred to Dr. Springer by a former colleague and completely entrusted him with my care without the slightest bit of knowledge on muscle testing - it changed my life. The supplementation he programmed for me transformed my body and brain in a matter of 3 months. There's still work to be done, but in just 3 months he fixed my stomach problems, gave me energy again (no caffeine necessary), and lowered the inflammation all over my body. My anxiety has lowered, I'm sleeping better, and I'm not panicked about eating out at restaurants with a fear of pain and discomfort after. The caveat? It's expensive. And it's a real time commitment too. Insurance doesn't view functional medicine and their natural supplementation as traditional and it's not covered. It's an investment to health and personal development. Plus, you have to put in the work and be intentional with the diet regime and supplements. I truly believe it's worth it, but it breaks my heart how inaccessible this care is to the majority of the population. Dr. Springer's focus on root cause rather than masking symptoms and side effects is life changing.

Forget about calling, you'll be left on hold. Although they have usually five or more behind the desk no one seems to be able to attend incoming patients. I just felt like they were more interested in taking your money than caring for the patients. They defer all questions and communications to the patient portal. I am truly disappointed. And seriously if you go to a medical practice focused on weight and health, shouldn't the staff be representative of that. Most of the staff are overweight and have the worst attitude ever. It's as if they don't want to be there either. Talk about being poorly run and for Godssake turn on the lights in the visitor waiting room. It may help wake people up!

I am a huge proponenet of "old school" doctors that actually listen to your concerns, share their expertise, and together come up with a plan that will work for you not only in that moment, but also in the long run. His office staff is caring, and gets you to where you need to be. It may take some time, but you will get there. All in all, he's a very kind, compassionate human who wants the best for his patients. Yes it may be a long wait to see him once you're in the examination room, don't worry, the wait is worth it!!!

I am being excessively generous with the second star here and the only reason I am giving two is…read morebecause I like Dr Carlson. He's a very nice person and the staff in his office are also pleasant. But from a quality of care perspective, you should find another primary care physician. I made my appointment as a new patient a year ago. As is the case with US healthcare, I had to wait months for my appointment. My initial appointment, even though I had health concerns, was mostly just a meet and greet and filling out paperwork, including records request for prior doctors and specialists. And that was it. Paid a copay, and they billed my insurance company. Second visit was 4 months or so later. This was to give Dr Carlson time to review prior records. When I showed up, again, no exam at all. Dr Carlson spoke briefly about the records he received and wanted to send me out for blood work, even though I had blood work already. Turns out they didn't receive records from everyone, including a specialist who had just done an extensive blood panel a month or so prior. So, Dr Carlson sent me on my way while they attempted to get that paperwork. Had me schedule another appt in 4 months. Copay and insurance billed again, for nothing. Fast forward to this past week and my last appointment. Dr Carlson spent most of the time talking about all of the data he received from the specialist. And while he did ask me if I had any health concerns, he told me my questions were good ones for the specialist and I should ask him. He also suggested getting another opinion on my issues. But that was it. Once again, no exam. However, this time he said he was going to bill this as my annual physical because then I won't have a copay. I don't know why I didn't say anything then and there. I should have. But that's 3 visits. 3 times billing my insurance company and two copays. And one of them billing as an annual physical without giving me any type of exam. What kind of doctor or medical practice is this? How do you have me come in 3 times without giving me any kind of exam? Apparently, they are just here to bill your insurance as much as possible. People come to primary care doctors specifically to help find any issues early, but you can't detect issues in advance of them becoming problems if you don't conduct basic health exams. Moreover, the visits he had me come for could have all been handled in advance of any visit. The office could have contacted me at any time before my first visit to have me fill out records releases. And if any records didn't show up timely, they could have contacted me to follow up with those other doctors. That would have eliminated the need for those first two visits. Instead, they were inefficient - presumably because they just wanted to needlessly and endlessly bill my insurance. Anyway, long story short, Dr Carlson is a nice man and maybe a good doctor, but the way this practice is run is horrible. It's clearly more about billing your insurance and collecting your copay than it is about your health. Don't waste a year of your life like I did. Go somewhere else for your PCP needs.
