Honestly stumbled across this place and had no idea what to expect -- glad I gave it a shot. Baitong is one of those spots that flies under the radar in St. Augustine but probably shouldn't. If you're into Thai food, this place is worth finding. The atmosphere was chill and comfortable, nothing over the top but it felt welcoming the moment you walked in. Our waiter was genuinely helpful -- not in a rehearsed way, just actually attentive and knew the menu well. That alone goes a long way. We ordered the thai fried rice and pad see ew, both were really good. The flavors were on point and the portions were solid for the price. Nothing on the menu felt overpriced, which is refreshing. We also grabbed a few appetizers and they held their own, but the rock shrimp absolutely stole the show. That was probably the highlight of the whole meal -- really well done. If you're passing through or live in the area and haven't been, it's worth checking out. Not flashy, just good food at a fair price with people who actually seem to care. Sushi was on the menu for tonight. I had heard about this place and decided to give it a try. I loaded my two kids and their littles. A party of 5 at 5:00 pm, and we were seated right away. Plenty of choices for Sushi rolls. We ordered 7 rolls and a sushi platter. The rolls were fresh and tasty. Although we were seated fast, our order took a while. Our order was sporadic. Baitong refused to see how it was listed (grilled hince gluten free) but I got fried which I couldn't eat. It was around lunch on a Saturday and there a few families already there but we were seated promptly. The waitress was nice and helpful. The food we ordered came out pretty quickly. We have been going to Baitong Thai and sushi for over three years. The owner and his family create traditional Thai dishes as well as yummy sushi. The service is always friendly and attentive. We come here for the Thai and a little sushi. We started with Spicy Tuna Nachos which is plenty for two to have a few fried wonton skins served with spicy tuna and diced avocado. My husband's go to is the Chrissy duck Pad Thai. I've never seen it on any other Thai food menu so we had to try it. The Pad Thai is classic with that sweet, not too sweet spice, and a touch of lime. A friend and I got takeout from here on a Tuesday night. There were about 6-7 tables seated inside and I think only one server working! We were quoted 45 minutes for the food, and it took about 65. By the time we left there was a long line at the host stand. Not sure if it is a regular occurrence for them but seems like they were short staffed. The calamari was cold upon checking the bag, so we asked for a new one and once it was fresh it was amazing. We also ordered pad Thai, kids fried rice, Nam Sod, shrimp tempura with salmon roll, and spring rolls. Everything was excellent! The pad Thai was a favorite. For both the Pad Thai and the Nam Sod we ordered a "2" on the 1-5 scale of spicy. Be aware! The two was definitely pretty spicy. I knew I wanted something simple for dinner, but I also knew John wanted good food- so when he said Thai, I figured I could order won ton and be happy. And I was! John went with his typical order- Pad Thai and enjoyed every bite. I ordered a bowl of won ton soup and the broth was very flavorful. My soup had bean spouts and carrots, which was extra tasty. I was on vacation and stopped in to this cute little Thai restaurant for lunch. The service was swift and accommodating to answer all my questions. Their menus is also on iPads, love this. They also had a lunch buffet which was new for me I will find a Thai restaurant no matter where I go and I have never seen a Thai buffet before. This was their first time eating here and we're so impressed with the food, which they said was delicious, the service great, the portions large, reasonable prices and an extensive menu that we all returned on New Year's to have dinner. We eat here when in town. We just can't say no. Sushi is the bomb. So many choices and expertly prepared. Thai dishes are as good as I've had anywhere. You choose the heat level, 1 thru 5, five being "Thai hot." We get 3. Our waitress told me she gets seven lol. They use Holy Basil in their Kra Pow, which is rare. Most Thai places use Thai Basil. The holy basil delivers more authentic heat to the dish. Pad Thai is maybe the best I've ever had or at least second best. Baitong is clean and nicely decorated. Wait staff are wonderful. read more
