I normally don't do reviews on chains but Salt Life Food Shack in St. Augustine definitely deserves some kudos. A huge place with tons of seating inside, outside (covered), roof, bar and table tops. An awesome vibe with high energy and literally across the street from the beach. There was only time to try the Smoked Grouper Dip and oh my stars! Rich creamy and loaded with flavor. Smooth well crafted cocktails, great servers and the salt air (or was it the salt on the Margaritas lol) will make you want to stay all night. read more

Really disappointing, considering the Marketing and notoriety of the Brand! They should stick to the clothing line. The location is what keeps the place busy, it's certainly not the food. My wife and I both had the street Tacos, I had mahi, and she had steak, and we ordered the Calamari appetizer, The tacos came out first, so we indulged, they were small in size, but tasty, the portion of fish was minimal. The side that came with them was a handful of tortilla chips. Dry unsalted, and unaccompanied with any kind of salsa, or dip. Not even a slaw! Half way through the meal the server came by, and we told her to cancel the calamari, she apologized, and when we finished, the calamari arrived! There are a lot of food options in the area, I would not recommend this place, unless you need a "T " shirt! read more

Unreal poor customer service. The text message says " your table is almost ready , 3 ahead of you" would that mean you should see the hostess ? A bit on the pricey side, but it's a great location with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Service is friendly and quick. Menu is mostly seafood (no surprise there), but I enjoyed that they actually had poke bowls and sushi options! Along with the regular fish or shrimp entrees. read more

We had our dog with us, so we sat at the patio on the ground floor. Surprise to see they have an elevator to go to the second floor! I had Hawaiian shrimp bowl, the rice was really hot, however, it's too salty. They put too much soy sauce in it, I can't hardly eat it. Hubby had the rolls, he liked it. Our waitress was attentive, she checked on us frequently. She brought a bowl of water for our dog right away without asking. There was a live performance on a Monday night surprisingly. My waitress was McKenna friendly and efficient. I got the grilled oysters a++ sold dish and the captain's platter fried seafood b-. The grouper was massively over fried... think fish jerky. I asked for a replacement and it was provided. Happy ending ? No, when I arrived home and checked my receipt I realized I was charged $4 for the replacement. What a nice place to eat dinner along the A1A in St. Augustine! Suggested by my son and his girlfriend, we had an amazing dinner together here and enjoyed epically great service! A little after we were seated we were also treated to some live music being played on the outside lower patio area. The location is just blocks from the beach and walking distance from the Hilton Embassy Suites I stayed at. I ended up coming back two more times because of the convenience and great service & food. We made reviews about this restaurant two years ago which we haven't been there till two weeks ago thinking they may have been better but still same fish was overcooked and rice dry like throw in microwave and after three bites of fish and rice I got sick, maybe not from foods but lost my appetite and they took $ off ticket but server was good and nice and we tipped her good. My family & I have been to this location of Salt Life Food Shack MANY times (and will continue to come back)! The greeters/hostesses are always polite & nice! The food is always a level above the rest (temperature, seasoning, portion size, etc). There is always some kind of live music happening on the patio (on the weekends - not certain about the weekdays). Hint: Order the a few oyster shooters before dinner! Stopped here when looking for a spot for drinks on the beach. This spot is not on the beach...its across the street from the Embassy Suites however you do have a view of the ocean from a few of the seats on the rooftop bar. We were quoted 50 mins. and it was actually 40 mins. As we waited outside I could smell the fried fish cooking and knew I wanted exactly that. Our waitress Marisa was a rockstar for a server. We chose to be seated outside but it started raining pretty good between her bringing our drinks and appetizers. When she came out with our apps, we had retreated inside and asked to be seated inside and had been told 20 mins. Marisa carried our apps around and told the greeters where a table was available for us and got us seated. She checked on us often and was took very good care of us. Even though the tender looked extra brown/ over fried, it was still juicy. I ordered a Black Cherry High Noon and Shrimp/Chorizo Nachos. Should have gotten the tacos! The chips were not salty enough. The cheese was sparse. The Pico was fine. The cilantro lime drizzle was too sweet. After 10 mins, it was cold and no longer good. However, the bar staff was very attentive. The ambiance and music vibe was on point. We took a peek upstairs and it's cool up there as well. Loved the table top fire pit and lounging couches. Nice beachy decor inside and outside. Rooftop dining. Easy and free parking next to restaurant. Dog friendly. It checked all the boxes for me. We both ordered the Almond Crusted Grouper and a cup of Clam Chowder. Both were delicious! My daughter also ordered the Pineapple Upside Down cake for herself. I was excited to try the calamari, but disappointed to find out it was only half an order of calamari and half an order of hot, jalapeño peppers that were not edible for my pallet. The menu was very nice and has a lot of dishes for sushi, pokebowls and fish taco types. I had the crunchy roll sushi and the spicy tuna sushi. The crunchy roll was pretty good and a very appealing in visual presentation. On the other hand the spicy tuna which should be easy for almost any restaurant to do had a kind of odd flavor to it. I'm not sure why but the the fish either wasn't very fresh or the spices weren't what I would normally expect. Overall I would come back just from the experience but I would hope for a better dish. My son invited us to this beautiful restaurant. I always wanted to come here. It is indeed very well located, from the second floor you have a view of the pier. Check my PICTs. Food was great, menu have a variety of seafood options to choose from. The second floor tables have the bar stools style and the picnic tables, we got the corner with the ocean view, I really enjoyed that. They brought someone's elses meal to my husband, and his to somebody else. The other person already started eating, so they couldn't exchange. They have to re-make his meal.
