Popped in here to grab a quick lunch. The menu was very appealing with options but I went for a chicken burrito. It was tasty and I was pleasantly surprised by the nice thick chunks of white meat chicken that they used, it was cut so small that you miss that chicken was even in it. Very decent lunch option, my burrito was a little over $12 and it was a good size. I'd definitely come back here. The place was pretty empty for a Saturday late afternoon, but it was clean. Stopped in to use my free $10.00 rewards for my birthday. When I entered I was greeted before I even got to the counter. The store was very clean. Just a couple of people dining in. I was able to go right up and place my order. I chose the shrimp quesadilla on wheat. It did not disappoint. You could see the shrimp on it. This was my first time trying the quesadilla. The order didn't even take long to prepare. I would definitely get it again. The customer service here was superior. Great staff. Awesome experience. read more

This was the worst experience. My estimated arrival time was 5:54pm. I arrived at 6:02pm. I have the cashier my order number. He mumbled something and walked away. He then came back asked for my order number again and then said he couldn't take it anymore. He said somebody else can help you and walked away. I then spoke to someone else who said my order would be ready in 10 minutes. When I got home I opened the pizza box to find a burned crispy pizza that had obviously been sitting around for a long time. I didn't take a picture because I immediately decided that I would never return. I wish I had because as I'm eating the disgusting pizza I'm trying to figure out why would they even sell this. I ordered the Taco el Pastore plate with carnitas, which I know now is wrong, because I believe el pastore and carnitas are differnet cooking styles...At any rate, it was ok as a taco, but not spicy as a pastore tacos typically are, and it didn't have any pinapple. She had one fried fish and one non fried fish taco..one of which was referred to as a wahoo taco-i can't quite remember which was which. She reported them to be very good. We had corn ships with their guacamole-very good guac. All in all, an OK, semi-fast chain mex food experience. Nice and clean. Polite and friendly staff. I might go back if I was in the area and hungry. I came here Saturday afternoon to claim my birthday reward. My husband comes here quite often and he swore it was 2x better than Moe's. He was right. I told the cashier it was my first time visiting, so she helped me pick the best item. She was very knowledgeable on the different options and polite. The large refill cups are reusable and you're able to bring it in every visit which is a huge plus. I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and flavorful the food was. The burrito came with complimentary chips (which were hot and fresh). The portions are huge and they do not skimp out on the meat. I chose to get the burrito with rice, black beans, half steak half shrimp, roasted veggies, and pico. The salsa bar was probably my favorite part of this experience. It has a wide variety of options that you won't be disappointed in. Pico de Gallo: Excellent. The right amount of acidity, salt, and onions. I took 5 cups to go. It's that good. Salsa Molcajete: I dipped my burrito in this sauce. It had the perfect amount of heat and was extremely flavorful. Salsa Verde: Dull. It's not your typical verde sauce. It was more sweet than tangy and didn't have much oomph to it. Not a fan. Moe's probably won't be seeing my face as often anymore because Baja has stolen my taste buds. These three stars could have been 5-stars for the Customer Service, alone. Our cashier (who acted like a manager) was very accommodating. The food however was worse than lackluster. The burrito bowl was flavorless. As if the grilled veggies were sitting in a hot water bath - there was hardly any flavor to the veggies. Since I ordered a veggie burrito bowl, this was quite the disappointment. But there's always a plus side, right? Hmmmm... I'm thinking. Okay - the salsas, as always l, were on point and delicious!!! I'm embarrassed to say that my only prior experience at Baja Fresh is the one at Johns Hopkins Hospital food court, and while I thought that one was okay, this one is far better! The menu had a wide variety of offerings and styles to choose from for your burrito or other choices. Everything is very fresh and the portions are generous enough. There is a bar of different salsas that weren't really my thing but was objectively nice. The person who waited on me at the register was super friendly and helpful in advising me about some of the items. The restaurant was clean and inviting enough for a fast food type of establishment. Baja Fresh is sorely underrated, as far as I'm concerned. Delicious food, fresh ingredients, and prices that just make sense! Only downside... I have to drive at least 15 minutes to satisfy my Baja craving! (Open a location in Pikesville, pretty please??) My go-to dish is their steak quesadilla-- a cheesy mexican fiesta packed with tender, juicy meat, served with pico de gallo, sour cream, and a dollop of guacamole. I always make a stop at their salsa bar, with three different sauces? salsas? (not sure what to call them), a mango salsa, pico de gallo, jalapeños, and fresh cilantro. Each entrée comes with a side of fresh chips, which are perfect with all the goodies at this salsa bar. And let me tell you... these chips are the real deal: thin crisps, freshly made and (usually) served while they're hot. I have never left Baja Fresh anything but satisfied, and I can't be the only one! They deserve more praise in the Mexican-chain world.. a lot more than some other chains I know (cough cough.. not naming any names!!) read more

I got a Baja burrito which is delicious, but the differentiator is the salsa bar where anyone can take from a selection of 6 different salsas. Let me preface this by saying the only time I've had food poisoning was after eating at a Baja fresh. That took a trip to the ER and four IV bags to resolve. Before, I preferred BF to Chipotle and sought out giant burritos smothered in the entire salsa bar on all suburban jaunts. I had reason to be in the suburbs today and spotted BF from afar. Years have passed, wounds have healed, and most importantly, the food poisoning wand seems to be held firm in Chipotle's iron fist. I stepped inside. Praise the various gods- "enchilada style" is still an option, and the dark purple salsa still exists. The menu is more cluttered with healthy options but it's easy enough to find the good stuff. It is unfortunate that you have to come to the suburbs for a Baja fresh. Baja's motto is everything is fresh, no cans, no microwaves. Exciting eh? Well, I must say I have not been to a BF in maybe ummm.. 4 years, and I remember nice portions for their tacos. I am not saying huge but a fair amount of meat. I was so dissapointed when I saw these ridiculous tiny tacos, 3 for almost 8$. Are we kidding?They contained a speck of steak some onions and cilantro. Really?? Not even tomatoes...what on earth! Looked up on google to see what time they close so I wouldn't be too late. We arrived around 9:20 and went up to open the door and it was locked. The hours on the window said they closed at 10pm as well. A worker was behind the counter and saw us trying to open the door as he smiled and went out of sight. I would understand why they would be closing early with everything going on, however there was no sign on the door saying that they had to close early and the worker did not have to be rude, laugh, and hide. Okay, I'm pretty critical of fast food/mexican chain restaurants. Grew up in San Diego, and even when I lived in Connecticut I was hitting the taco trucks along Long Wharf. I'm giving four, as American-Mexican chain. A fair number of menu items are Americanized. But thankfully, they have the courtesy to refer to them as such "Taco Baja" (traditional soft corn tortilla) versus "Taco Americano" (flour tortilla - better known as a mini burrito). That said, their carnitas and carne asada are decent. Really wish they offered barbacoa beef. The rolled pollo tacos are good but need salt, and so wish they had beef as an option. Their chips are good. Their far less skimpy on the meat than Chipotle (big rice burrito with two small spoonfuls of meat). Seriously? Give me the real thing...with meat. And Baja Fresh usually does. The chips are fresh, and often warm. *ymmm* They have a decent salsa bar as well. When I was doing the Medifast diet (which I lost 35 lbs on), I found this to be the best "Lean & Green". I'd get a taco, sans cheese, sans tortilla (basically onions and cilantro). And a side salad (sans tortilla strips, cheese, etc - just salsa for dressing). It'd run about $5 and was very healthy. Lastly, the staff has always been one of the most courteous, friendly and interactive of any chain eatery I've eaten at. And if not busy, will even accomodate some off menu variations (like sopapillas). A few times, I've made it right before close and they never rushed me out. I appreciate that greatly. I remember the time from when this was still a book store, nonetheless now it is a Baja Fresh and over time I think the quality of the food has gone downhill a bit. Or maybe I have just become a snob about food since I moved away. I used to order the beef taquitos until they took them off the menu, I am a fan of their yellow rice and usually I find myself getting the baja fish tacos if I am there. Tacos only contain a small portion of fish and its mostly lettuce. They have a cute little salsa bar where you can choose how spicy you like your salsa. I have heard mixed things about their workers there, many people have said the workers in the back dont wear gloves when they make the food?? Ordered two steak bajas and two steak Mexicanos. I have never been to this location and has been about 6 or 7 years since I have been to a bf. My parents like it and they are in town so I picked some burritos up for dinner. The place is large and very clean. Much cleaner than I find the local Chipotles and Qdoba to be. The salsa bar is excellent. The salsa verde and chile de arbol were perfect. The cashier was awesome, very friendly and helpful. I gotta give the management kudos. The burritos were excellent. They aren't too big and hold together well. The guacamole in the baja was really good and the rice and beans in the Mexicanos were very nice. The steak in both were delicious. I got steak burrito and their burrito came with generous meat portion and the person who took my order took the order correctly and the food came out exactly as I ordered it in terms of the ingredients and portion. When I went in the manager took my order and the other staff members were genuinely friendly and the place is well run. The nacho bar allows you to get 6 different kinds of salsa and as much or little as you want. I highly recommend this location. read more

First, the food. The food was just an average Tex Mex restaurant. If you went to any other mexican chain restaurant you wouldn't really notice anything else. But the chips, despite being under seasoned, were freshly crisp and made there. Surprisingly, the salsa bar was clean and had variety. The cleanliness wasn't all to be crazy about. It was dirty in some places like floor stains and grime but that was mostly where it wouldn't harm you/ you wouldn't be near. And the employees. They were quick to the point and I can respect that. But it was kinda awkward when one of them forgot to take my order. But I still got it. Overall just an average Tex Mex restaurant. I couldn't find any Mexican Coke so that was sad. I used to love Baja Fresh! I don't know what happened... I waited a while for the food to be ready and when it came out the fish tacos just tasted old and fishy. They were very rubbery. The shrimp taco was delicious, however. I always enjoy all of their salsas but overall just not impressed. I think their ship has sailed. read more

Surprisingly good Amercian Mexican-style food from a carry-out chain. Grilled meats are really grilled for an authentic flavor; always tender, always well seasoned; I love their fajita with corn tortillas; salsas are fresh and spicy; veggies fresh and tasty; all good! Better than many sit-down Mexican spots, really. They aren't afraid to use hot peppers; they use real cojito cheese, and grind real smoky chipotles in their addictive black-murky looking salsa. This is total Tex-Mex style food, and I have no complaints- I enjoy it quite a bit. If it was sit-down, with real plates and atmosphere and margaritas and cerveza and such, it would earn five stars!! As is- minus one star for cafeteria-like atmosphere, and cheesy plastic to-go containers. Only other nitpick-- if you do carry-out, examine your order!!
