Rueban with "home fries". I was expecting french fries but more like chunking, skin on potatoes. More breakfast looking but tasty.

We were traveling so I looked for highly rated restaurants for lunch in the area. If we're through there again, ( possibly next year) we'll go there again! Friendly, great menu and prices. Clearly a favorite with locals. As we were leaving a line for lunch was forming. Order st the counter and a server brings your meal. I LOVE a good Reuben and it was fantastic! Baked their own dark rye and thick slices told hold all that goodness! It came with a great crunchy pickle spear and the sandwich so big a full I couldn't eat the potatoes!

    French Toast & Bacon

All wonderful food! The bacon was perfect both rare and well done. The bisque was hearty. The French Toast was very well done and looks amazing.

Bake My Day's Turkey Melt. Sooo delicious!!

Hastily decorated. Clean, but nowhere near sterile. The clerk seemed irritated that I walked in, like I was keeping her from something more important. So, I tried to order fast. I was a little peeved that I very clearly asked for a specific Danish, and she just kind of pretended not to hear me and very quickly threw a different Danish in the bag and gave me an irritated look and said, "Anything else?" Um... They were both huckleberry Danishes, but the one she gave me had like a third as much fruit as the one I specifically requested. Whatever. "You don't have any ham and jalapeno rolls or anything like that, do you?" "I'm sold out of that one, but I do have a bread filled with cream cheese and bacon and jalapenos." I took that. The jalapeno bacon cream cheese bread was amazing. The fillings were pretty standard, but the bread itself was phenomenal. Other reviewers have mentioned that the head chef is a classically trained pastry chef. It really showed in this bread. This bread was as good as the bread from my favorite bakeries in San Francisco. Top tier. I could probably eat a little loaf of it every day. It definitely would have been better heated up a little bit, since the cream cheese was all in a cold block on one side of the bread. But it was still really good. The Danish was decent. It definitely tasted very blueberry-y--- I'm not sure if I can tell the difference between regular blueberries vs huckleberries. Overall, it was about as good as a fresh store-bought Danish from Costco. It didn't necessarily taste home-made to me, but the website states that everything is made home-made and from scratch, so I guess it was. But it tasted kind of commercial. The total was around $9, which I thought was high considering the quality of the Danish and the amount of fillings. But prices are high in 2025... c'est la vie.

He also does everything from wedding cakes to treats for special events, like the Huckelberry Festival. His experience shines through in his flakey strudel with Bavarian cream filling (a personal favorite). He also uses seasonal fruit fillings so look for raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, or the illusive huckleberry to make appearances in the sumptuous muffins and scones. Speaking of scones, you must try them, and at $1 they are half price and on par with what you'd find at a Starbucks or more upscale bake shop. All the quality and half the price, my kind of place! To some locals that are comparing the prices to the local supermarkets, ok it's a little more expensive, but you cannot compare these fresh baked, quality treats with a Rosauer's donut or packaged cookies. Plus, if you buy your pastries for your Sunday church socials from Angel, you are supporting and keeping your money in the local community. You are helping your parisioners/ neighbors and creating jobs in the Gorge - and saving in gas and bridge tolls! You can also contact Beverly, the owner, who will do special orders and even provide treats for events like weddings, celebratory parties, special dinners, anything! Over the years I have tried many items and loved them all. There are always unique flavors built into everyday pastries which take B's Sweets to the next level. For example, the maple scones have figs incorporated giving them both texture and contrast. The doughnuts are sometimes flavored with lavender, sometimes hibiscus, sometimes both, giving them a scent and flavor that elevates the ordinary doughnut to something truly special. Even though I am not gluten free, I often buy the GF shortbread cookies beautify decorated with an edible pansy flower. Trust me, you need to buy this for your next brunch or gathering. Not only do they add an artistic flair to your table, they are scrumptious! And all of your friends can enjoy them. The mini tarts - in various flavors depending on what's in season - are also decorated with pansy's and dried fruit. Just gorgeous ! The lemon tart is my favorite but recently bought the blood orange and everyone loved it. Sometimes there are purple tarts - lavendar - and while the color may throw you off, go for it! So good. There are various types of stuffed croissants, brownies, artisan chocolate bon bins and caramels, cookies, focaccia, hand pies, cinnamon rolls, lavender tea cookies and more! Really hard to make decisions. Luckily I'm there weekly so I get to try most everything. The lavender shortbread squares with half dipped in dark chocolate, sprinkled with lavender, are my favorite. Only available in the cooler months as chocolate melts in the heat, I always buy a box of 6 for $10. They also make a great little hostess or just because gift for a friend. You can also find these at the gift store at Hood River Lavender farm for a treat any day of the week. The owner and baker, Beverly, is the best! So kind, friendly and enthusiastic about her baked goods and the customers genuine enjoyment. Call her for special orders. She also provides dessert spreads for events. Your guests will love them!!
