This is a great diner restaurant. When you come in find a seat and they will be with you shortly. The staff is friendly and the coffee is flowing. I love their patriotic decor and their country ham. Perhaps we made a mistake in not ordering pancakes and breakfast foods but found our lunch orders fairly disappointing. The Reuben sandwich was very heavy on cheese, light on sauerkraut and meat - a variation we were not quite used to. The chef's salad was a bit bland (iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese) although very generous in size. The burger was the favorite and pretty good. The french fries were impressive in their size (length of a potato) but so so dry. Service was very fast and friendly. read more

JUST MEH. We were traveling thru' town and stopped for Sunday brunch after reading other reviews for Momma Jane's. Every table was full which is usually a sign of great food. The positives: - Portions are HUGE! - Some prices are great (like the biscuits and gravy) - Staff is friendly and helpful. The downsides: We had a 10-minute wait to be seated, and then a 15-minute wait to take our order, then a 20+-minute wait for the food. At least 45 mins. before food arrived. Just be prepared for that if you're in any kind of hurry. Service is very laid-back and unpredictable. We had 2 adults and 2 teenagers in our group. We were very pleased that the waitress recommended only 1 biscuit with gravy to our daughter who has a small appetite. 1 was WAY too much for her! Biscuits are tall and they serve them cut in half, so it's really TWO - and it was only $5 bucks! Husband and daughter only ate one biscuit half. Both said the biscuits were too bready / flour-tasting. Not exactly "dry"; but very flour-ey, if that makes sense. Not flaky or buttery at all. The sausage gravy was like a 5/10 for flavor, and contained hardly any visible sausage, at all. I got the Veggie Omelette and was pleased that I was able to order it made with TWO EGGS, not three. That dropped the price by $2, and was more my serving size. SUPER filling! Salsa on the side was no charge and made the omelette even better! The only drawback was that the spinach did not taste fresh / was wilty and kind of black and nasty. I picked it off, but some of the taste remained. Avocado on top was perfectly ripe and really made the omelette awesome! Eggs Benedict were pricey and just okay. Hashbrowns were PERFECTLY cooked! Crispy outside, soft and tender inside. But sadly, the grease or oil used tasted borderline rancid or something. Just off. Such a bummer. Lastly, the buttermilk pancakes were super thick and tough / dry / hard to cut. They tasted strongly of flour. No buttery taste at all. We each took a bite and did not want any more. Bummer. The syrup flavor options were great tho'. We really wanted to love Momma Jane's. Sadly, it was a one-timer for us. Maybe you will have a better experience than we did tho'. I hope so! It's a fun place with a lot to look at while you wait! I wish the owners the best of success. First time here...and not our last. Cute little "hometown" place that is super quaint and clean. The place is decorated with motorcycles and old car memorabilia. We were greeted immediately and sat down. Waters were brought promptly, and menus on the table. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash and eggs and instead of toast we ordered the single pancake. My husband ordered two eggs on the side. He ate the pancake and eggs and I enjoyed the Corned Beef Hash, 2 eggs and hash browns. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The portions are huge and the quality was amazing. My corned beef hash was cooked slightly crispy and it was delish! Hash browns were crispy outside and fluffy soft inside. This place gets busy quick! They have tons of different pancake options, but I had to get the veggie Benedict. It was good, but wasn't a normal hollandaise sauce, maybe the sauce broke? Fabulous experience at Momma Jane's! We stopped by for breakfast this morning. We lucked into a table...they were definitely busy busy. Cute place...quaint, retro, and fun. We received a hearty and friendly welcome upon entry, and exceptional service with a smile throughout our meal. It was definitely a wait for our food to arrive, but they kept the hot coffee coming and ultimately it was so worth the wait. We ordered an omelet plate and a 2 egg plate. Everything, and I mean everything, was fantastic. The potatoes were all cooked perfectly, the bacon crispy, the omelet huge, the pancake yummy. I especially loved that they did NOT overpower anything with salt. I eat low salt, and I find most breakfasts out to be too heavily salted. Thanks to Momma Jane's for recognizing there's a salt shaker on the table! We were stuffed. We actually took 1/2 the omelet and some potatoes to-go. The food-scrumptious...the service-sensational. On Tim and I's ride up the coast and back down we spent 2 days in The Dalles and ate breakfast here both times. The lady who served us both days was attentive and quite engaging. We got our food both days quickly and it hit the spot both times. The second time it was cold outside and being on motorcycles we really appreciated the warm food in our bellys. We walk into a crowded house every time we come here. Yes it really is that good. Omelets so good, pancakes so huge, hashbrowns crispy on one side and fluffy underneath. Can't say enough about the food. Now when it comes to service. We have gotten the best. We had an older lady with bangs . We have had both sisters, the owner Kay and her sister Lisa, she is the banged one. Make sure your on your best behavior, she'll let ya have it. And we just love what she gives us. My friend, who's 80, and I went to this restaurant around 10a on a Tuesday. The waitress was unbelievably rude right off the bat. My friend asked if she could get a carafe of coffee instead of just a cup. For whatever reason the waitress was rude to her and slightly hostile. We were both pretty amazed. I ordered pancakes & eggs. I asked if I could have my scrambled eggs browned. That seemed to cause the waitress some confusion. I specifically said as brown as the pancakes. She said, "We'll see what we can do." The eggs I was served looked like an amount equivalent to half an egg and they weren't browned. In addition they didn't taste good. I don't know if the area of the grill the eggs were cooked on was dirty or not. I can cook better eggs in a dirty fry pan in my house, and I'm not even close to being a competent cook. The pancakes also had an off taste. My friend ordered hash browns & an omelet. She didn't like the taste of her hash browns and said they were greasy. She only ate half and left the other half to go to waste. Her omelet was served square! Who the F cooks square omelets?! That also only got half eaten. The coffee was good. To this waitress...if you're going to work in Customer Service then have customer service skills. You deserved to be suspended on the spot for being rude. We literally got better & NORMAL service that afternoon from the number 1 fast food restaurant. MJ's is a restaurant we've been to a couple times before. We will happily never go back. read more

We went to this place last summer and it was great. We thought we would go back since we had such a good experience last time. I ordered crispy bacon, eggs scrambled soft, home fries and wheat toast. My husband ordered scrambled eggs, sausage, and a pancake. It took around a half hour for our food to come to the table - they were busy so it was understandable. My eggs were scrambled hard, my bacon was soft and floppy, the potatoes were cold and not seasoned. The best thing on my plate was the toast - it was actually delicious. My husband likes his eggs scrambled hard, so he was happy with them. The sausage had good flavor (I regret not getting sausage instead of bacon). The pancake was so tough he had to rip it with his hands because the fork and knife wouldn't cut it. Then, as well were paying, my husband noticed the cook wasn't wearing gloves and was touching food with his fingers when someone's bacon was sliding off a plate. Ew. read more
