Well, I was in the area earlier this year and figured I might as well try getting one of their ube crinkles. To those who are curious, ube is a naturally purple root crop which is common in the Philippines and some other Asian countries. It's a bit sweet, it's nutty...just wonderful. Glad I made my way to Danforth's in Hermon. The cookie didn't disappoint. It's just the right amount of sweetness. More importantly, the ube flavor is prominent. Walked in and a man who I guess worked there came out from the back to help (he just didn't fit the appearance of a baker to me, but no judgement). I asked about a few of the donuts because the signs didn't match what was in the case. We got 4 donuts. I then looked at the case to the right of the register and asked what some of the items were, even said,"is that jello?" Absolute silence. No response. At that point I just paid and didn't bother to get anything else. It just felt awkward. We took our chances and ate the donuts. They were good. Service- meh.

The two girls behind the counter were very sweet and my two choices for ice cream / gelato was their blueberry ice cream and honey lavender gelato. I am in mourning 10+ hours away thinking of this gelato every day for a week now knowing the perfect combination of those flavors are residing in a pug themed ice cream shop out of my reach. Life is forever changed for me. Honey in my tea? Lavender Honey gelato thoughts. Lavender latte? I could be enjoying the gelato with pug figures all around me in bliss. It is probably safer for my health that I am not in commutable distance daily to this gelato but my mental health will be grieving this treasure.
