My brother lives very near this bakery and has tortured me with photos of the sourdough cinnamon roll for several months. I recently drove up to Amador County for an event (I live 2 hours away) and was told that if I stop at a fruit stand along the way and pick up some cherries, he will trade some SCRs for the cherries. (fair enough). I did, we did, I brought my SCR home and wrapped it tightly to enjoy the next morning. Next Morning Me is so happy she is writing this review!!!! I have been looking for a CR that lives up to its first name. Most CRs I find in the Bay Area are too heavy on the icing/sugar and too light on the cinnamon. In this case, Cinnamon is the middle name, but it should really be the first!!! This is it folks, this is what a Cinnamon Roll should be (to me, anyway). You can taste the cinnamon, it's not overburdened by sugar. The sourdough is chewy, but still soft, and I think I detect a hint of lemon in the icing. The icing is judiciously applied, meaning there is enough there to satisfy a sweet tooth, but not too much that I needed to scrape any off to taste the cinnamon. Dare I call it a Destination Cinnamon Roll? All I know is, next time my brother comes down to the Bay Area, I will be requesting said SCR! P.S. I have also tried their bread, which he has shared in the past, and that is also delicious!!! Volcano is tucked away, but is such a cute little town. We wandered into Baked in Amador today and were greeted with a friendly employee who kindly guided us thorough the menu and patiently answered our questions. I settled on a Jalapeño cheese "bagel" with cream cheese and a cappuccino while my wife had a cortado. The food and drinks were prepared quickly and my god that bagel was darn good. Fresh, chewy, warm, and the jalapeño added a nice kick. We ate outside in their back garden which is beautifully manicured. As we were there on a Sunday, it was pancake day and the gents up front kindly gave us two sourdough pancakes on the house. If you're in the area, definitely make a point to visit. read more

What a little gem in a quality town! You walk in and your nose is greeted with the delicious smells of bread baking! Then you have the staff that are so sweet and kind who are ready to tell you all about their breads. I got the jalapeño cheese toastie with half butter/half cream cheese. This was delicious - it was warmed and lightly toasted which gave the out crust a light flakiness that has the delicious chew to the crust and a light and fluffy inside - just fabulous! I also bought the bus loaf which I can't wait to make some toast with or some grilled cheese sandwiches! I even got a 1/2 green tea and 1/2 lemonade that was delicious and super refreshing - could have drank a gallon of this! Such a great little bakery! Even though it's only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it's worth the wait. The star here is their sourdough bread but they also have some fine pastries. The pear honey Danish was my favorite. It's pastry was so flaky and buttery it almost melted in your mouth. As was the pastry for the cream puff, both made with sourdough starter. I really appreciate that they're not overly sweet and the pastry shines through. We also had their "Better than Bagels" plain seeded bagel with cream cheese and a mustard dill sauce drizzle, which sounds odd but was really good almost like a vinaigrette. It was the best bagel we have ever had! Served toasted and warm it was so soft, also made with sourdough. Their jalapeño cheddar sourdough Fougasse was delicious. I just wish they had better coffee, their drip coffee is pretty weak. Service was amazing. The owner talked with us and was so nice. Looking forward to coming back to try their cinnamon rolls and fresh sourdough pizza dough. The pizza dough is a new item and should be available soon as a regular fare. read more

Not often you find a place just a few miles from home that is a genuine 5* Yelp rating, and yet the owners are modest, friendly and helpful. Volcano is a lovely little town that everyone should visit, and Baked In Amador which has been open may 8-10 months is a great addition. In fact it is a reason to visit all on its own. Locally made sourdough, and pastries , the entire county has been lacking this since Andre's closed a few years ago during Covid if I recall. Go visit baked in Amador, get one of their frequent shopper cards and go back often. You won't regret it! read more

We got a loaf of the salted sourdough to match with our picnic items, and quickly learned that the quality/taste is (way) better than a good majority of bakeries in the Bay Area.
