What a fanatastic place. It was our first time going and the place was happening for a Friday night. Lovely decor inside which makes you feel right at home. Ordered the Pornstar martini to start and it was delicious (came with a side of proseco). We didn't know how big the portions were so we didn't order any apps. This is a really cute restaurant. It was quite busy when we arrived at 6pm, but they offer outdoor seating as well. The service was slightly slow, but again, they were busy. I decided on the short rib fettuccini for my dish, and it didn't disappoint. There was an abundance of short rib meat, and it was deliciously tender. The sauce is aconcoction of mushrooms, green peas, Parmesan, sour cream and dill, and was really light and flavorful. The dish was perfectly sized: enough to satisfy my appetite with a few leftover bites that my hubs covered. My husband ordered the Korean meatloaf and when I say that he ate every last crumb from that plate- I'm not exaggerating. Dinner at Baker & Wife absolutely perfect. The chicken piccata was outstanding -- perfectly balanced with great flavor and cooked spot on. The spicy Thai seafood curry had just the right amount of heat and was packed with fresh seafood. Cocktails were excellent all around, and the strawberry shortcake was the perfect finish to the meal. My boyfriend and I chose to spend our Valentine's dinner at this restaurant. Wow, what a wonderful meal for a special evening. We started with our cocktails (Basil-cucumber Martini and the Bramble... yum!) and ordered the Crispy Shrimp Tostada as the appetizer. We loved to see they had a Valentine's special menu. My boyfriend ordered the Ribeye steak from that menu and I got the Korean BBQ Meatloaf from the main menu. I cleaned my plate!! I really wish this place was closer to home. First time and what a cozy and appealing space. Terrific vibe. Four of us for Friday night dinner. Service was great throughout and corkage is $25. Great cocktail list and nice wine list too. Our drinks and appetizers were excellent- focaccia and fried Brussel sprouts with sausage. Entrees all left something to be desired. My Korean spiced pork chops were delicious but underneath, literally drowned in broth, was supposed to be kimchi polenta which was a soggy mess. The poached egg was a gelatinous blob. Ate the chops and left the soup. Two got the Tiger Shrimp with noodles. Both loved the noodles, but the shrimp was overcooked and lacked seasoning. The fourth got braised short rib pasta which he found tasty but was surprised by the small amount of pulled meat - was expecting the actual short ribs. The vibe is super fun. Casual, but nice. Our tuna appetizer was fantastic and my Caesar salad was as well. However, I got the Steak Frittes and it just wasn't that great for the money. If it was about $15 cheaper I'd give this place 5 stars. That meal would've been worth it at that price. However, my wife got the steak skewers special and they were pretty incredible. Our Airbnb host recommended this restaurant. Honestly I don't know what I was expecting but this place was not what I was expecting. The menu kind of had a little bit of all different flavors. We started with the tuna tartar and the flavors were great! The only thing my husband and I wished was that it had 1 more piece of wonton crisp to eat up all of the tuna. We ate here about 5 weeks ago and it was one of the few restaurants in the Sarasota area that was recommended to us, but for one reason or another it took us awhile to try it. I'm glad we finally did. I have to say I can see what some of the hype is about. The atmosphere was charming and the food was a pleasant surprise. We had the fennel salad (wow!), we had the truffle burger, focaccia breads (wow again!), and the meatloaf. The food had care put into it and was very good. My only critique was the sauce on the meatloaf was a little too sweet and overpowering, but with that being said great little spot to enjoy some really tasty eats. That plate of food, the staff meal fried chicken dinner, was one of the best meals I have had in my life. Chicken was second to none and hands-down in my entire life. I have never had fried chicken that good before. The mashed potatoes that the chicken was sitting perfectly perfect portion and was as delicious not at the level of the chicken. This meal can easily be categorized as CRAVEABLE!!!! Ambiance was perfect! I am so glad that it is not Snowbird season and I can get back in without worried worried about getting a reservations many times until this November. I have to note that this is my fifth or six time there and I have always always always been extremely satisfied with the food and service that I get there. We were back at Baker & Wife after a long hiatus. The drinks were as good as always as was the calamari appetizer that we so enjoy there. Our daughter was so disappointed to find that their brick oven pizzas are no longer on the menu! Those were such a huge hit with our kids and we're super bummed. The meatloaf has changed, I think, and was not as good, unfortunately. And the roasted chicken entree changed, too. Overall we were disappointed with the changes to the menu. Absolutely loved our dinner here. Started with a classic Caesar salad and a fresh tomato burrata salad. You immediately knew a chef was in charge when both were served at room temperature, not icy cold and pre made. The Caesar dressing was divine and served with white anchovies, no debate they are the only kind! For dinner we enjoyed the pan fried salmon prepared with tomatillo sauce, avocado, haricot verts, grilled corn, fresh tomato, arugula, lemon. Delicious. Perfectly cooked salmon. It has a plush and homelike atmosphere, (with each table being adorned with a cute flower) and with some attentive staff and good rotating meal options to keep things fresh. However, I was stunned that the staff started putting the chairs on the tables and sweeping the floor while we were eating dessert (our table was not the only one as there were two other tables still seated). We tried this out for the first time on my birthday. Our table got the meatloaf, the burger with upgraded truffle fries, the short rib pasta, and the mushroom bolognese with added sausage. Everything was really good! Oh we also got the FUGETABOUTIT it pizza (pasted that sorry for the caps). Pizza was super good but the bottom of the crust was SO thin it was soggy from the toppings and you couldn't hold it at all. I know it's supposed to be that style of pizza but the toppings just slid right off so it was hard to eat. The tiramisu was amazing. They lit a little candle for me which was sweet but charged me $13 bucks when it was only $12 on the menu so don't expect a discounted bday dessert overall I would definitely recommend it and go back.
