I have bought many cars over the years at different dealerships and asked some questions pertaining to financing and have waited 4 days for a response. That isn't acceptable to me. Absolute swindlers. They sold a car at $15k over sticker promising rebates that were never given. Looking at being down $25k on a month-old car that is difficult to sell -finally found a dealership that will do a trade-in, but at a $25,000 total loss for a car owned one month. Multiple problems 4x in the shop the first 3 weeks, (Lemon law does not apply for various reasons). Do not purchase from here unless you know your car business. They will exploit (especially the elderly) instead of taking care of you. This has been an absolute nightmare and them saying "we don't know why all these things don't work or why it won't charge". read more

Bought a car in November. Title came by mail with my husband and a random person as joint owners. After 4 phone calls with no call back, went there and had to yell in the showroom to get any help. They supposedly fixed the error. 2 more months and no title yet. Checked with SOS. Dealer fixed names, but address on title is this other random person's. That's where the title was! Betten misleads customers by labeling vehicles as "Carfax Certified". This is, of course, a 3rd-party designation...Betten Baker is using Carfax's positive reputation to help sell vehicles. The only problem is, these cars aren't CarFax Certified. Betten Baker doesn't even use CarFax products and can't provide you one as a customer. They will, instead, send you the much less reputable "Auto Check", part of Kelly Blue Book, which is owned by JD Power....all of which are part of the Big Auto industry and designed to sell cars, not give the consumer accurate info. (Ask yourself how often you see a dealer listing a vehicle above KBB price...it's always a deal, right? That's because KBB isn't what it used to be, it's a sales tool now. And why would "Auto Check" be needed with such a reputable company like CarFax? Because Auto Checks are never as thorough but rather designed to give the consumer the impression they are getting CarFax by another name.) The best part is, it's only when you press their sales people that they will admit this. They advertise CarFax products, they will even tell you they can send you the CarFax. When you ask why it isn't a CarFax, all of a sudden the excuses come out - "it must be a mistake, I don't know why it says that". I'm sure you, the reasonable consumer, understands how easy it is to just misspell "AutoCheck" and it turns into "CarFax"...a simple typo, definitely not trying to pull as fast one. read more

Well went through there driveway found a vehicle we liked and it was brand new. But me and the wife took it for a test drive and brought it back and the rear hatch wouldn't open or close automatically. Told the salespeople what was all wrong with the vehicle that was brand new. Mind you it was a 2025 Chevy Traverse with no miles onit and they only wanted to sell it straight up with 6 months 6K miles on warrranty and 6K mile manfactering warrenty on the vehicle. Couldn't use GM Discounts or nothing like that. So in the mean time These guys at Betten Baker couldn't get nothing financed and nothing approved so me and the wife sat there for hours waiting and there excuse was you can take the vehicle home? I am like no thats not going to happen and i said it multiple times and finally at the end of it all sales said heres a plate you take this vehicle home you are buying it no matter what!!!!!! Me and the wife spoke up and said we live hour and half from here and what happens if its not approved i will have to figure out a time and everything to bring the car back and we don't have time for that!!!!! Sales finally said you can take your car home then but we both had to speak up and said we want are keys to go home????? We had to ask several times!!!!!!! Then a week goes buy i asked the sales guy multiple times what is going on and no word!!!!!!! So finally on the tuesday after we saw that car i called another dealership and asked if they had a certain car in stock and they said yes...... I gave up and will never do Business with any Betten Baker dealerships around the area they lost my business all together....... Also by the next saturday a week later the New car sales manager called me and was a complete mean to me and i told him i was never doing business there dealerships ever again that they have lost a customer completely. read more

Total lack of competence! Thay had my car for three weeks and all they could come up with is it overfilled with oil. 14qts to be exact. Manager said he had no way of knowing how overfull it was then the service writer came in and said 14qts. It came in for. a cam positioning sensor that I had scanned before going to the dealer, and checked the oil, it was 1/2qt low on oil. Week 1, They never gave me an answer on what was wrong with it. No estimate, no diagnostic report, zero information. They didnt know and had to check for spark and fuel. 2 weeks, phone call "when's the last time.you had an oil change? Month and a half- 2 months. Oh, well they overfilled it. It had 14qts of oil, that's 3 times the amount it should have". Week 3 (today) I go to dealership service manger say it was over full on oil no attemp to call me back. Give me an estimate or still tell me what the diagnosis was before the 2 weeks it took them to find the oil was "overfilled". The first guy I dealt with is no longer there. Can't prove anything and have had problems 3 other times with the Coopersville chevy dealership. Second and last car I'll every buy from them and last service they will ever attempt. Only went there because of the lifetime warranty. They won't fix it it's a lifetime dealer warranty! The only person in this dealership that actually seemed to care was the New Cares Sales Manager Nick and he had ZERO to do with this entire nightmare with our vehicle. Lesson learned. I'm an old woman. My sons were busy. I thought, how hard can it be to purchase a car? I knew what I wanted. I saw what I wanted online and made the trip to Coopersville. I wanted two things from the purchase...I wanted to make the down payment on Monday (it was Saturday) and I wanted to wait to pick up the car until I sold the one I was driving. It took less than a week to sell. I walked around the car and a salesman approached me. I told him the car had a hole in the passenger side taillight. He said that was odd and they would have it fixed. I was looking at the tires - he said no big deal, we put new tires on every car we sell and change the oil. I sat there forever while they waited on everyone else. I wish I would have left. I thought they were fixing the taillight, changing the oil. No. I felt harassed by the finance guy and he acknowledged the taillight needed to be replaced. He asked me if I was promised anything else. I said no, because the salesman said the tires and oil were standard procedure. So, I made the down payment that day. Tuesday they delivered the car...YAY. Nothing was done. No new tires, the taillight wasn't repaired and the oil was a 20% left. They are liars. I needed a seatbelt extender for my disabled daughter to be able to ride in the car. I drove to the dealership sometime in the next week and asked for an extender. No, they didn't have any, but they can order one. I have never heard back from them regarding the extender. The weekend after I received the car, I drove to their sister dealership in Muskegon and picked one up. If you are reading this, my advice to you is to seek to purchase your car elsewhere. There is no integrity here. These people are dishonest. read more

Save yourself time and money! Do not goto this dealership for service! My son brought his truck in multiple times for the same issues. Thankfully his truck gives us alerts when there are issues but this "service" dept had us pay $100 "inspection" fee, didn't find any problems only for the codes to come back and then suddenly cost us $1000 in repairs. Codes came on again and now they want another $1300 for repairs that should have been done during the first time! Service Dept will keep your vehicle without any updates. Under new management so decided to give them a try so I can support a local Coopersville business. From the moment I entered the building I felt welcomed but not pressured. The used Explorer I was interested was buried by a snowfall from earlier in the day but the staff eagerly spent 30 minutes digging the car out for me. After some typical negotiation an offer was agreed to with an understanding the dealership would take care of a few minor open recall issues. The following day I inspected the vehicle and confirmed the repairs were completed but also noticed new rear brakes, new tires, an oil change, a new air filter and a full tank of gas! All of this was done after the agreed purchase price was finalized and that's just fantastic customer service. Thank you Chris Baker and the entire team at Baker Chevrolet of Coopersville. read more

I went to the Betten baker used car lot in Coopersville to look at a truck for sale . When I made the deal it was to late to do the financing so the morning I looked it up and they had it advertised for $2000 less than the night before so when I called and asked about it they said that was how it worked in there system. My salesman was out at the time so.i spoke to the manager. He said think it over for an hour because they weren't going to redo my deal. I called back later and spoke to my salesman and said I would go through with the deal. So when I got there they told me they had sold the truck. Didn't even give me the curtice of a call wasting a hour drive. The salesman claims he didn't know about the earlier conversation so he had no idea till ten minutes beforehand that they had done what they had. All and all very poor practices up there. read more

We had an appointment for 3 to 4 hours of working which was installing chip for heated seats. Drop car off night before they had car all day and could not get it completed. if you need 4 hours to complete a job and can't get it done in 8 there's an issue with your service department. 1 star is too high of a rating. read more

I really do not recommend. It will be a long drawn out exhaustive process with high pressure sales including every little extended offer. Little regard or knowledge about the vehicle and did not answer questions. The did take extensive time to explain how to leave an excellent review. But that is not going to happen. Watch you paperwork! A bit shady in what they try to add on and leave out. At time of purchase watch the actual milage they try to put down. It was a challenge to get him to enter simply the correct actual millage. Pushed onsite insurance. Basically pushed anything but good service. When asked how to work cruise control two people in sales and my sales rep not a clue. Instead of finding out how to set just said probable did not have cruise control option. Was blown off by sales person for scheduled appointment to go over options. Later he followed up said sorry I was slammed with making new sales. Thanks alot, right. The general manager very high pressure to bully with self as customer and his staff. Very odd vibe I must say. Also he was not doing anything at time I came in to learn vehicle and stood up by my sales rep, he could have stepped up. Even worse, I just purchased vehicle day before and spoke with him, at the time of my return he snubbed me, he did even offer a greating. Truly, I am ver pleasant individual. In this new vehicle I just was deligent to just get deal done. Invested over 11 hours most just simply waiting. Actual face time and assist time approximately 30 minutes max. They just could not focus. Anyway got the deal done but you walk away feeling a bit used and abused. Also if you push for an answer to basic questions such as the advertised priced compared to what is being offered they have a harsh tactic by saying, you know maybe this isnt the dealership for you or we just will not be able...its a bluff but total hard ball. Good luck Kool Chevrolet worse. Berger much better. I wish I would have stuck with them. But had so much time invested at Betten Baker figured should follow through. I strongly suggest, sign nothing until the very end. Prior, have them go through car with you, test drive, have your questions answered. Dont do as I did being so agreeable and sign to soon. I made an appointment for 9 am for my check engine light being on. I was told multiple times that diagnostics on my vehicle would take an hour or less. I told the guy checking me in that this was my first day off in 3 weeks and had a lot of things to do so if it was going to be awhile to please communicate that with me since I had a lot of errands to run and things to get done. I sat in the waiting room for 3 hours, while the service rep stood around on the floor drinking coffee. After 3 hours he came into the waiting room and blatantly lied saying he's so sorry he's been so busy and got pulled into a 3 hour meeting. Which again I knew was a lie because I looked out the waiting room door multiple times and saw him standing around drinking coffee. After he told me what they found wrong with my car I asked if I could have a loaner car. He said no and that the only thing they could provide me is a shuttle driver. So I asked for him to get me a ride home right away and again explained how I had a lot of things to get done. He then told me the shuttle would be there in 20 min to pick me up, it took 50 min before I was picked up. When I picked my car up I had to go back inside to ask them to put my antenna back on instead of just throwing in my car and since I've had my car back it is driving strangely. Every single time I have to go to the Coopersville Betten Baker I absolutely dread it. The last time I took my car in to get fixed for something minor, the very next day my check engine light came on. I called and explained what happened and they said it's not our fault. I have never dealt with a single person at this dealership who cares about customer service or doing the right thing. There was absolutely no concern or regard for my time and my priorities that were being wasted. All they seem to care about is making money. I told the service rep that I didn't trust him because after being lied to all day about little stuff how could anyone expect me to trust this company to on my vehicle. Worst part about this was my check engine light came on two days later reading the same exact code error. read more

Typical shifty car repair place that gives them all a bad name. I had an issue with my not starting when I turned the key. I had it towed down there (if you do this pay the tow truck directly or the dealer will add a huge mark up to the cost) and had them take a look at it. They could not reproduce the problem but told me they were sure it was the ignition switch that needed to be replaced. I had them do the work which was my first mistake but the least of them. $200+ later I picked up my car and upon leaving the back lights on the dash and the radio did not work any more. I went back in with in 10 minutes of leaving and without even examining the car they insisted it had nothing to do with the work they did even though I know they had to open up the dash in that area to replace the parts they did, and I could see finger prints where they had taken the pieces off the dash. They also refused to even consider that they may have damaged something else. Their insistence that the ignition switch was a faulty diagnosis because with in a week I had the same problem again. Honestly I will never bring a vehicle back to them for anything, not even a free oil change. They do not stand behind their work nor are they will to admit when they are wrong. Stay away, far far away, unless you feel the need to part with your money to have someone create more problems for you. read more

Unfortunately I have to rate this dealership 1 star.... My wife and I purchased a used vehicle (2013 Buick Encore) on March 17th at which time our salesman Jeff Baker could not find the second key to the vehicle. He informed us that if they could not find the key that they would order one and let us know when it arrived at the dealership. The following day my wife and I found a crack in the front end of the vehicle (which was taken care of no questions asked at the dealerships expense which looks great) and contacted the dealership. They had us come in so the body shop could asses the damage. They agreed to fix the issue and we scheduled our appointment for the following Monday, which was a week and a half later. When my wife dropped off our vehicle Jeff told us he would be able to give us our second key as promised when we picked up the vehicle on Wednesday. Wednesday comes my wife picks up our vehicle after they finished the repairs (which again look great) but Jeff was unable to give us our key. Come to find out after sending a few harsh worded emails and a phone call to us from the used car manager Drew, the key was never order until the day prior. To top it all off Drew was very condescending when returning my email with a phone call to the point where he told me "clearly you are very upset is there anything else wrong in your life" and "I don't see why this is such a big deal since you already have one key and only one key can be used at a time". I would be willing to upgrade this status when I get an apology for being lied to (both my wife and I) and when I finally get the second set of keys we have been promised since the day we bought the car. read more

They lie to you. I called to see if a used truck was available and it was. I asked if it was from Canada and the salesman, Christian, said it was a local trade in. I am specifically against Canadian trucks because they are rust buckets. He lied there. When I came in to see the truck, he didn't even want to take me outside to see the truck. He said he forgot to tell me that it had a transmission leak at the cooler line and that it is leaking coolant but he had no idea where it was leaking from. Why would you wait until after I made the trip for that to be the first thing you told me!? I was then told by him and the manager that the price was wholesale and the vehicle is being sold as-is with absolutely no play in the price it is listed at. Felt like another lie to me. The manager then told me that the truck was previously listed at $1,500 more but they had to reduce the price because it was a Canadian truck. I was livid! Why was I lied to over the phone about it being a local trade in!? Horrible experience. I had someone watch my daughter and drove a half out out of my way only to be lied to! Complete waste of time. Shady experience for a dealership that buys trucks from Canadian auctions for cheap, marks them up like crazy to sell them to you, and then they will fall apart because everything underneath is rusted out. I arrived about 10 minutes before my 5:30 "appointment" for an oil change and tire rotation. When I entered the garage, I was not asked my name and was told I could go in to the waiting room. My vehicle was promptly driven back outside behind a line of 4-5 other parked vehicles. After about 40 minutes in the waiting room, I was asked to fill out a slip of paper with my name and other information. My vehicle was completed around 6:45, close to 2 hours for an oil change and tire rotation! My bill did not appear to reflect the coupon for the oil change and tire rotation which I selected while scheduling my appointment online but I did not have time to make an issue about it. I assumed my online scheduled appointment was confirmed as I had received two different emails stating such but I certainly wasn't treated as having an appointment. Not exactly a pleasant first time experience at Betten-Baker. read more
