She is on disability and saved almost 5 YEARS to buy a vehicle. She can not afford the transmission repairs and the owner Rusty will do NOTHING to help this issue-not even have it towed to the repair shop-but he replied on my review that he offered to bring it back and repair at a discount!! Rusty, we'd like to take you up on your offer that wasn't available when I called you for help today, why don't you stand behind your word in your response you left me? They promised to fix it free of charge since I had bought it from them. IT HAS BEEN OVER 3 MONTHS, and I keep getting the run-a-round from them. I've been on the lookout for a new Jetta TDI to replace mine with 400K miles. One day my AmEx bill included a link to TrueCars for deals via AmEx, and behold there was a Jetta TDI near me. They've become like unicorns since the VW diesel recall. My search had been ongoing for a year because I could keep limping mine along (ran great, just looked like crap and the frame was starting to rust out) and because I wanted stick and preferably a wagen. Then I found another I liked that fit the mould in Kalamazoo but was a Passat and one year newer. I think I sent them a message online. They said they would have it out front when I arrived. It was. This already is success. I'd been to three other places that summer trying to buy a car. One place didn't have fuel in two BRAND new cars and couldn't find the porter. Another couldn't start nor jump their brand new diesel Terrain and another didn't have any on the lot as advertised. I couldn't give money away or even get a test drive. I took the McFadden car for a test drive. It has 93K miles and it was good enough - the price was also good. They did not want to come down, but when I told them of the True Car ad, they could get their money back so they knocked a couple hundred off. Then I noticed a few things missing under the hood that likely walked off during the recall fix. And the cigarette lighter didn't work. They did the usual used car thing like... a guy was looking at this today and is bringing his wife tomorrow. Yea yea. I still had another one to look at... and I could get by. But then after they said they would fix the issues and they had a 3 month and it was either 3K or 4500 mile warranty, I figured, let's just get this one and not drive to Kalamazoo. It was the evening and I asked them to figure out financing in the morning and call me. Working with all men, I appreciated they didn't do the 'call your husband and let us know' deal. The one hang up was the fact that they had not started on the financing right at opening the next day. I was delaying going into work and finally by nearly 11 a.m. I called and they said, oh yea, let me see what is going on.... then magically five minutes later I get alerts that my credit was pulled. Then later in the day when I got there I did a lot of sitting... again I think this was in the finance ball court. The sales guy left to check on something and was cool about not being over aggressive on the add ons. He walked me through them - I declined. We moved on. All was good... but then the next day as I was driving down the road it sounded like I was dragging something with my tires. Yep, I was. It was the plastic under belly that was just shredded and likely pushed up out of the way, but then after driving it fell down. I called, sent pics and they said they'd replace it. I work a long way from them so it took me a while to get back there, but when I did, they replaced the underbelly thing, the missing turbo lid, the cigarette lighter plug and balanced tires. No charge. The guy who headed up that transaction was awesome too. Alas, the waiting room leaves a bit to be desired. You can hear everyone's actions in the bathroom. Often people get worked up about used car fails... but you have to ask them to fix the issue. They did without hesitation and I'd buy a car from them again. Hopefully it will last 12 years and 400K miles like my last one ;) read more

Found myself in an awkward position this weekend. I broke down closer to another Dodge dealership, but they told me they wouldn't even consider getting my vehicle looked at for at least 6 weeks. I called Mcfaddens this morning and they said they were out a couple weeks for appointments, but if I had it towed to them they would get it worked in at least looked at in the next couple days. That's all I can ask for as a single parent with one vehicle. Thanks for helping put my mind at ease and I'll be looking forward to your phone call. Well they pulled through for us after all. I bought a vehicle in June from Mcfaddens. 2 days after bringing it home the brakes were making a god awful noise, I took the vehicle back to Mcfaddens and they stated they had fixed the issue but they didn't. The brakes were still making the same noise so I asked them to take it back and fix it correctly. They brought the vehicle back to me, no noise. 2 weeks later the same noise was coming from the brakes again. I gave up completely on their shop to fix the issue. Fast forward to now which is November, 5 months into purchasing the vehicle and I have a transmission going out, a timing chain about to completely fall off, the brakes are still making the awful noise amongst a few other things. But for me McFadden's has been a great place from the beginning. 10 years ago I bought my first "newer" car here and they were very accommodating. I told them exactly what I could afford for he car I really wanted and the owner Rusty made it work. 4 years later I went back to buy my first new car. I did a little shopping around and another dealership in town offered me more then they did at first. I respectfully asked if they could match that offer and they did! No beating around the bush, no games, just flat out good salesmanship and excellent customer service! Their service department is very easy to work with and Chris will take great care of you. Took jeep in for ticking rattling noise Service gave me estimate and all parts were at least double the price that you can buy them from mopar online for the same OEM Parts. They said it was exhaust manifold and there was "something else " making noise. Said parts would be in in morning and I told them since they would have it done quickly fine I will pay a bit more for parts. Next day called vehicle not done but may be done before closing. Called said mechanic broke 2 studs (not unusual this is why I has it done vice doing myself time wise). Pick vehicle up day later than expected a lot more money than expected and still that remember "something else" noise above on receipt it says customer declined diagnosis for engine noise.... how can you decline something you were not asked was told also that the labor was going to be 100 turns out it was 225 ( also double) guess I got to pay for mechanic breaking studs while in hurry to get it done on day promised! Wanted to buy a car with cash in hand and they took days to get around to me. Thought nothing of it really, got the car and was happy with it for 2 years. My transmission blew out so I took it back to them to get fixed and when I asked if I had a warranty they took TWO week to call me back and even let me know. Once they did call me and tell me the warranty covered the transmission they also told me they had crashed my car in the process of moving it. How does that happen at a dealership?? They told me they would fix it in about a week or two and also made sure to mention "this is the first time something like this has happened in 22 years" Absolutely dumbfounded with the people who work here and the management. read more

I bought my Jeep Patriot new in 2017 and loved it, planned to keep it until it was no longer drivable. In December of 2021 it was making a noise; took it in and was told the struts needed replaced. I paid to have them replaced and 3 months later the noise came back. Took it in and they said a bolt was loose; they tightened it but said it might happen again and if it did they'd have to replace the struts again. The noise did come back and they replaced the struts with new ones for the second time. Repeat; noise came back again and struts were again replaced. After the 3rd set of new struts within 5 months the noise came back again. I called McFaddens and told them I was at my wits end and didn't know what to do at that point, and that I couldn't just keep bringing it back for new struts. I was told the manager would call me. Meanwhile, my husband looked up the issue on YouTube and watched a video on how to tighten and secure the bolts on the struts. He followed what the video showed to do and fixed the problem. My husband is not a mechanic. McFaddens never called me back. The noise has not returned and the problem has been resolved thanks to my husband. Today I am selling the Jeep because I no longer trust the brand or the dealership to fix things that go wrong. I'm not posting this review to bash the company but to save people like myself from having poor service issues like I had to deal with. read more

Purchased a vehicle after looking for several weeks. Worked out a deal on a factory certified 2017 Ram 2500. Salesman Aaron was great to work with and we settled on everything via email. Never talked to him .Very convienent and he was very responsive. The day before I purchased it, I found out that the vehicle had 5,000 more miles than advertised. They knocked off a little money because of it. I wasn't too worried because it was factory certified and had an additional 3 month/3000 mile bumper to bumper warranty with an additional 24 month/40,000 mile powerful warranty. After signing the paperwork, they tell me that it does not qualify for it because of an open recall they couldn't get parts for. Truck also had front end work done that was found after I got home that included paint. Pictures on internet listing don't show the misaligned bumper. Must've happened in their possession. They said it had a clean Carfax, but obviously wasn't inspected well. I take a little blame for having my new-to-me vehicle blinders on. Dealership did work out a few issues after the sale which is why they got 2 stars instead of one .Finance guy was extremely condescending. Definitely will not be going back .Dealer stops communication when they are called out on stuff. Friendly, maybe. Easy to work with, nope. read more

We had our Jeep service here for two different problems on two different occasions. The staff were friendly and tried to assuage our fears. However, the projects took a long time (over a week) and the communication regarding them was poor. On one occasion, they did not have the part and the wait was long and on the other occasion, one of their pieces of equipment was broken. All in all, it was a stressful experience. There was little that the management did to try and rectify the situation. As such, I would not recommend them for service. read more

Went to dealership McFadden in South Haven Monday morning 11/2 to purchase a 2010 Ford Edge. Purchased the car had it home for no more then 4 hours and the car was leaking. When I purchased the car I asked if it was inspected and looked over by a mechanic they stated yes. If the car was inspected they would've saw there was a leak. They never disclosed there was a leak, they just lied and said noting is wrong with the vehicle. I called the sales rep David that I was dealing with, I sent him pictures of the leak and he told me to bring it into the dealership. I dropped the car off later that same day. The service rep Chris called me the next day and stated the steering wheel was leaking fluid and asked if I wanted a quote to fix the repairs. I stated no because I had just purchased the vehicle. I called the sales rep Chris back and left a voice message. The General Service Manger Rusty called me back just stating we bough the car As-Is and that there was nothing they would do. I told him I only had the car for 4 hour no way should it be leaking anything. He didn't try to rectify the issue, never offered to repair the issue nor even offer to pay half the cost just wanted to puff his chest and so No we can't do anything. This company doesn't care about its name or providing customer service. There really just a small car dealership just like Harry Wormwood in Matilda, they just want to get over on people. STAY AWAY!!! Keep your hard earned money and go to a more reliable and reputable company. read more

I had my Dodge Stealth "serviced" here after having it towed in since it wasn't running properly. After two weeks with no communication and baffled mechanics, I was told the problem had been resolved by installing a new throttle position sensor. I picked the car up and jerked and bucked the entire way home, turned around and brought it back. Everyone told me it was not having that problem after they "fixed it" but that they would try again to resolve the problem. I requested that they keep in better contact with me regarding their progress. They kept it another week and still not a single phone call from them. After three total weeks, I stopped in and they admitted that they couldn't diagnose the problem and had removed the new TPS and put the old one back on. They refunded my money and suggested I take my car to a Mitsubishi dealer. I went to my trusty backyard mechanic and he immediately determined, just from my description, that what I needed was a new catalytic converter (gee, you'd think this would be pretty easy to diagnose but since no codes were turning up, McFadden's couldn't figure it out). So, I had the converter replaced and then had to spend an extra $200 to get the old TPS reset, since McFadden's had messed it up. My car is back to purring like a cat and running like a cougar! Never again will McFadden's get my business! Not only did they have my car for three weeks, they were they unable to diagnose a common problem and communication was non-existent! The service department has lost my business and the used Cadillac we were considering will be purchased elsewhere! read more

Interesting your saying he had 3,000 miles since purchase seeing he has only driven to the D.C Cook plant in Bridgman from Dune Lk campground in Coloma? You must have have a Dyno machine on site to rack up those miles to eliminate the warranty. Very sad for you folks since I was seriously thinking about purchasing a truck from you.....I will wait till I get back to Washington State. I am a business own, also on Yelp, and never heard of a review being "not recommended". Because I have posted only a few reviews, does that make my post less reliable? Yelp claims that advertisers and/or business have no say in which reviews get posted and which get hidden in the "not recommended" file. I find it highly suspect that McFaddens "Friendly" Motors has 61 reviews and ONLY 1 is posted. The other 60 are "not recommended". I find this highly suspect. Bought a 07 dodge truck with 6.7 Cummins. Sales man said he filled up my truck,bs. P.s. fluid was low had to refill in two weeks.oil pressure gauge started acting up , work them the needle would settle back on the pin (in the pre-start position) while the truck was running. Pulled my trailer to New camp site from dune lake campgrounds to the shamrock campgrounds in herring springs (about 50 miles or less).the truck developed a oil leek. Turn signal light on drivers side rear did work. When looking for oil leek found no inspection plate on my truck. (This covers the teeth of The flywheel and torque converter) keeps rocks and cats out and needs to be on this part of the drive train. Took my truck in with in 30 days of buying it. They fixed only a light and temp fixed the oil leek. I paid for the light repair. I will be calling b.b.b. ,Dodge ram l.l.c. flipping trucks and taking granny money that should be on your sign. Not friendly motors. You are far from that. I hope ze ro union brothers or sisters get took from you any more. Shop else where brothers and sisters. P.s. I know a few hands looking for trucks. Place isn't too bad. Just seems like they do things backwards. The car was fixed in 40min and then waited another 40 for paperwork to be done. The guy working on the paperwork kept going back to the computer where the car was getting worked on to get info multiple times, going once and getting all the info at once would save time. I highly regret ever going to McFadden's friendly motors!!! Being a new mother, looking for a safe vehicle and being to trusting. It started off with them having me sign in the co-signer spot and when i questioned it they stated "oh, don't worry about that because it doesn't actually matter where you sign", then a few days later they stated they needed a new copy of my social security card because they didn't "have a clear copy" and that i could just send a picture of it to them. A week later i tried to make my car payment and the loan agency had NO account for me and when i called mcfaddens they claimed that it was correct and that no account was created because they sent my BIRTHDATE in as my SSN! And they tried to make it sound like it wasn't a big deal and said that it happens at least 2 times a month!! At that time they stated that they told the loan agency to take the payment out of mcfaddens account and made me write out a check to mcfaddens to "reimburse them" for making my payment and so i did which I later found out that they did not pay until i was 20 days late which means they lied about paying and took my money when there was no account. Sadly the stress continued when a couple weeks later they called me again and stated that the loan agency was able to run my correct ssn and that the entire contract i had was void and that i had to come sign a new contract with a different interest rate, less months to pay off, and a higher monthly payment. When i told them i was not signing anything else they continued to text and call me trying to bribe me by offering to fill my tank and when i quit replying they started offering a $100 gas card to come sign the new contract because I've had to make a half hour drive every time they found another error. Then out of nowhere they text me saying how they "bent over backwards" for me and got the original contract "pushed through" after i told them i did not want the car anymore and they stated "well there's nothing i can do about that." They also reran my credit at that time with no consent from me. Now it's 2 months after i signed the original contract and i got a letter stating that my gap coverage had been canceled and when i called they stated that mcfaddens cancelled it on April 11 and called back to reinstate it on April 12. I asked what would have made them cancel it and they said the only reason would be if i requested to cancel it or if i refinanced the vehicle which i did not either. Mcfaddens is nothing but a scam and they did a lot of fraudulent actions with me when all i tried to do was get a vehicle that fit my family's needs that was in my budget read more

Don't service your car here, or even buy a used car that was serviced here. They use the cheapest, quickest-breaking parts on the market and you'll end up putting your car back in a shop very soon. I bought a used truck with brand new brakes, 8 months later the rotor warped and had to be replaced. Most brake rotors have a warranty of 1-2 years, McFadden used brake rotors with only 3 months warranty. Both rotors were rusted out, which is preventable if you spend just a bit more per rotor for the proper metal finishing. Instead, McFadden uses cheap parts that make your car less safe and more likely to break down again. read more

They run this like a whorehouse. one step from a buy here/pay here lot. dont waste your money/time here. their sales dept. is horrible. called and set a buy/pickup date. got to the place at 9AM and then had to watch as 5 other people came in after us to take the same truck out for a test drive then ended up having a bidding war with 3 other customers which upped the payment amount hundreds of dollars a month-payment was going to be 350ish than went up to 575 because "truck is in demand today." lol they never sold it. finally at 2PM, we left, then they had the audacity to call us 30 minutes later and tell us we could have it. told them to keep it. what a joke. read more

I drove from Jackson to South Haven after speaking with Tony on several occasions and went with the impression that I would be getting a car. I was completely honest with my bankruptcy and financial situation. The Salesman Kyle was very pleasant and friendly once I got there. I was very disappointed in the "Bait and Switch" tactic's used by this company. I work full time and don't have money or time to waist. I feel I could of been told of changes made before I drove 2 hours. I will not refer anyone and will be writing the Better Business as well. You had very nice cars. A few months ago I started the process of shopping for a new vehicle. McFadden's had a price online, and I wanted to get a few numbers from them to find out if the numbers were reasonable for what I was looking for. The online salesperson would not give me any information over the phone, and kept pushing for me to come into the showroom. I made an appointment, showed up 15 minutes early, drove the vehicle, and then was made to sit and wait about 1 1/2 hours for the finance guy to get me numbers. Before the numbers were presented, I was asked if I was able to make a decision without my husband being present. I am a professional business woman, and highly offended by such comment. Once they presented the numbers, which were laughable....They wanted me to wait to speak with the finance guy who attempted to hard sell me. I was not impressed in the least, and I ended up purchasing a better vehicle for a better price at a better dealership. **This is my response to the owner's comments below I researched in my email when I emailed back and forth with Patrick. The date I was in your dealership was May 9. Patrick handed me off to salesperson Tony when I arrived. We test drove a Jeep Cherokee, and I had questions about trading in my 2007 Volvo. I had my own financing, and did not wish to receive financing from McFadden's. Mike the finance guy was taking a lot of time, and I sat waiting over 1 hour. Tony had another customer come in for a truck sale, and left me sitting waiting for numbers while he helped the other gentleman. Rusty, the owner, could be seen in his office off to the side. Rusty appeared to be trying to not sleep, but was sleep head bobbing for at least 30 minutes of my over hour wait. I came into the dealership alone, and Mike (the finance guy) seemed to have instructed Tony to ask me if I would be able to make a decision today, without having my husband person. I couldn't make up this bad of an experience if I tried. Obviously, your dealership didn't take me seriously. Your loss. I was able to find a vehicle at a different dealership that met my needs, and was much better priced. Josh was amazing!! We were looking for a used car to surprise our daughter for her 16th birthday. We had her with us so she could test drive the car and make sure it was really what she wanted. Very sad that I had to become nasty to get them to honor the $100 gas card we were to get with purchase of the car. Also they cut our car down and said they would not even try and sell it but take it to auction. Funny it was on their site the next week and soon sold. Bought a '11 Jeep Wrangler on a Saturday afternoon. By Thursday it was broke down on the side of I94. Called our salesman who assured me everything would be "fine." He said he would get it up there to the service department and figure out the problem. On Saturday, with no word from anyone, I called to find out where my vehicle was and if it was fixed. Said they assumed it was in my driveway!! After a couple more calls I discovered that a serviceman stopped by to look at it, found out the serpentine belt had fallen off so he just pushed it in a driveway alongside of the road. Worst experience of my car buying/leasing life. In August 2017 I wanted to turn in my 2015 Chrysler 200 lease a little before the termination date. After a lot of back and forth I finally agreed on a lease payment number that although, higher than I wanted to pay, I could live with. I got 2017 Jeep Renegade which I really like. The problems started when my bank kept taking payments out for the Chrysler which I had turned in and was supposed to have been paid off. I called McFadden's and talked to to someone who said he would have the finance manager get right back to me. he never did. I then tried to call the finance manager and left several messages for him to return my calls, he never did. I then went to the dealership and talked to the sales manager who said he would find out what was going on and call me, he never did. I then called the finance company and found out that the car had not been paid off yet and that there were other charges that might be pending. After a prolonged period of time I finally got it straightened out with the company and was refunded all money that was over payed. I do not know why the staff at McFadden could not or would not help me in this matter but I will never go there again. I would anyone looking to buy or lease a vehicle to go elsewhere. The customer service is deplorable and their treatment of this customer was unacceptable. Last year at this time My wife took in her Dodge Caravan for oil change. The person that changed the oil reported that she needed a water pump, I was suspicious because there was no sign of a problem such as leaking and so on. We later checked with another town shop and they said there was no problem that they could see. 0ne year later still the same water pump and still no problem. Believe ALL the Low reviews! This place is a chop shop. The Slob owner "Rusty" is THE epitome of sleazy used car salesman. Buy a car from them and you'll be the next person writing a 1 star review! On the test drive brought up issues with brakes grinding and passenger seat warmer not working. Their "Christian" "God Fearing" owner Rusty is a complete loser. Gave me a whole story about how honest they are and how the vehicle passed all their strict inspections. I've had the car a few weeks and took it in to be looked at. Needs new brake pads and rotors, heating element in seat is shot, will cost about $1,000 to fix. Could go on and on about the crazy stuff that came out of the owners mouth, but dont want to waste any more time on these losers. read more
