This is one of my favorite donut shops in Riverside. I'll say, it ranks in my top 5 as my #1. The name change in ownership hasn't impacted the recipe and I was very happy about that. It doesn't matter what time of day you stop by their donuts are always FRESH and melt in your mouth moist! Customer service is always top notch and Martin is outstanding. Always always has a smile and even under a mask his friendliness shines through. I cant believe I forgot the lady's name that is always there as well helping and she is sweet! Donuts are good but the service sucks. I'm all for helping anyone in need but within the first two minutes of trying to get my order in, I had a total of three men come in asking me to buy them coffee, donuts and one even demanded a Monster Energy drink. I did buy the first guy a coffee and donut. The next guy demanded a large coffee so I said no. This place is the fantastic, the doughnuts are the best, a great selection as well. They are always fresh, and they keep well we have eaten them 3 days later and they still tasted like they are baked the morning of. Today I tried one of their blended mochas and it was fantastic, blendend smooth and tasted great. They have banana fritters, caramel filled doughnuts, bacon topped maple bars. Since #2 Donuts no longer has Sam I've been in search for a new donut place. I went in late at night and the variety of donuts was minimal (sprinkle, plain and maple). Seeing as it was national donut day I had to partake. The maple donut I got was really good, bursting with flavor and the dough itself was moist and not dry. Service was great, very kind individuals working behind the counter. The area at night is a little sketchy so if you are alone just be cautious and watch your surroundings. read more

Driving up to Donut City and seeing their little shop is so nostalgic! This is what I think of when I want to get donuts. The set-up is so "old-school" and the look of the shop adds to the experience of getting donuts. The other morning, I was sent to get donut holes for my daughter's preschool. I was happy to see that they're only $1.50 per dozen! Best believe I made it rain donut holes that day! The Chocolate Twist - this donut is so soft and the inside melts with the chocolate glaze as you take a bite to the point where you could imagine it as a warm treat as if it just came out of the oven! Probably my favorite! The old fashion - it's just the perfect little size! I like that it doesn't crumble easily like other shops' donuts when you take a bite. I was stopped at a red light, noticed this place, so pulled in around 5:30 pm on a Saturday. I am INCREDIBLY picky when it comes to donuts and and wow, these donuts are amazing!! They are so light, fresh, and fluffy! I don't like an overly sweet donut, so I ordered the sugar donut and it was the perfect amount of sweet. I didn't feel gross afterwards either. And yes, at about midnight, there were still clientele in the joint. Pretty competitively priced product (compared to what I'm used to in the Bay Area, that is), as well as fresh, sugary yumminess. shamefully, I can't remember what my friend got, but I got a glazed buttermilk. Having grown up in the 909, I have lived in San Francisco for the past 8 years and have searched in vain for a donut equal to SoCal's caliber. There isn't one. You might hear people rave about Bob's Donuts in the city, or King Pin Donuts in the East Bay or Rolling Pin Donuts in the Peninsula (All part of the Bay Area), but these donuts are thick, doughy, tasteless disappointments to a true connoisseur. I rate my donuts by the sweet and simple raised and glazed. If you get this succulent staple in the donut world right, you can't go wrong with other varieties. However, so many donut shops get it wrong, and they try to compensate by stuffing their bready abominations with sticky-sweet custards and thick gels, or by slathering on chalky layers of frosting and sprinkles that taste too much like Red Dye No. 5. On the east coast, they have Dunkin' Donuts, which are superior to many other donuts (including the donut on steroids, Krispy Kreme). They have a great variety to chose from, they are always fresh, and if you're into coffee (I'm not), you can't go wrong. But still, they do not begin to compare to the most amazing donuts on earth, made fresh and delicious at Donut City in Riverside, CA. It is Donut Mecca, and I cannot wait until my next pilgrimage. Obviously, their glazed raised are what the FDA should set all donut standards to. They are just perfection. But let me tell you about two of my personal favorites: The coconut glazed raised and the crumb glazed raised. Everyone knows that with a glazed raised donut, you can ruin it by adding on extra. The donut is already sweet and perfect: light and pillowy on the inside with a firm, golden outside for a sinfully indulgent texture. Drape a light sheen of glistening goodness over that, and you may as well stop there. But Donut City doesn't stop there. On one batch, they dust the still-wet donuts with a crumbling of perfectly combined cinnamon and sugar. Another batch gets slightly-sweet shreds of flaky coconut. Let them all dry, and you get the most amazing donuts ever. I have never even seen a coconut-glazed here in the Bay Area (and I have looked!!!!), but part of me is glad for that fact because I know that any shop up here would botch it up. SoCal donuts have NorCal donuts beat by far, and I would even go so far as to say that SoCal has the best donuts in the country. But it is Donut City that rules this heaven-scented land of donutopia. read more

I'm rating this place 1 star because of my last experience there. I bought a half dozen donuts and they charged me double. I paid $7.00 the week before for the same dozen and this time they charged me 13.70 for a half dozen. REALLY!!!! Although the donuts are great the employees overcharge or they keep a big tip. So it's after midnight on Saturday and we're looking for donuts. This place is the only one I know of that's opened on the weekends. Open on 24 hours on weekends! We went with a mixed set of donuts. Overall the majority of them were fresh. We did find a few old/dry ones however. I think this happens no matter which place you go to.
