Following up on the comment left on some of the staff being rude. This place is great and I was excited to take my partner for a croissant and coffee. We arrived just a few minutes before closing and my partner wanted a mocha but unfortunately the barista was rude enough to tell my partner she couldn't make him his drink because they were closing. In the 20+ years of working in the restaurant service industry I've never had to turn down anyone or a request because we were close to closing. I absolutely love this place. The decor is rustic and endearing, and the food is clean, flavorful, and abundance in quality. The bread items coming out of that kitchen is done with perfection, and the combinations in their pastries are out of this world. Their sea salt rosemary chocolate chip cookie is hands down the best version of a chocolate chip cookie I've ever had. The spices are well balanced and the cookie is filled with good quality chocolate that's not cloyingly sweet. Crunchy on the outside, gooey in the inside, the cookie is simply perfection. And Bakeri is one of the very few places that make an awesome oatmeal raisin with chocolate chip cookie, so make sure you grab yourself one of those as well. You can feel good eating any one of their open faced sandwiches or salads and then splurge on an awesome bake good, like their cinnamon bun. This bakeri is seriously awesome. I just realized that I have never written a review and can't even understand how that is possible. I have been here countless times and am always so thoroughly impressed with it. The tea selection is divine. The fact that you can sit at communal tables and relax while reading the paper or watch the breads and various items in the kitchen being made is awesome. I always have pleasant conversations with people here, but I really enjoy sitting at the counter where I can get an even closer look...and smell of the dough and aromas being mixed together. I love their soups and the bread that accompanies it. The chocolate chip cookie they make is one of in not the very best I've ever had anywhere, and the ambiance is beautiful and charming. The floral wall paper in the bathroom and on one of the walls in the sitting area takes me to a place of rapture and reminds me so much of Paris. I'd call this place hipster Boho chić. Definitely check it out when you're in the area and get the hibiscus tea and the butternut squash and kale soup if they have it! read more

Went to Bakeri for the first time this morning to meet a friend. This is a very cute spot to grab some delicious pastries, breakfast, and coffee. The vibe is very relaxed. They just opened up an outdoor seating area that is lovely. Just a note, even though there are signs that say "please ask to be seated", you don't have to ask to be seated. The outside space operates with a server who will take your order. This is not clear anywhere and you might end up standing in a long line, ask to be seated, and told that it's a separate ordering system. Also, look up the menu online beforehand. It's not listed anywhere until you get to the front of the line to order. There are efficiency kinks but definitely worth a go! read more

Overpriced - by a lot - for goods that aren't very good. And the staff seems just unhappy to be there.

First this place is totally out of the way. It's in the middle of a residential side street relatively far from a subway, and that subway is the G. But that's part of the attraction, and it's impressive that they manage to stay in business. The baked goods are good and the interior is well designed. They put wheelbarrow flowers out front on a nice day, it's well lit, and they have an unpretentious communal table. Great place for a quick snack. read more

We discovered this place about a year and a half ago and we loved the food and the ambiance (decor). We used to go at least once a week. If wasn't for the terrible service and the unfriendly staff that give an attitude and looks even we would have kept going. It's so disappointing and we got sick of. I waited 35 minutes and couldn't get any service. Had to flag down a waiter for water and a menu. But everyone else at the communal table was given a menu and water when they sat down. Even the people who came after me got served, the people who literally down 2 seconds got served immediately. I was the only non white customer at the table and it felt like blatant racism, that the only POC at the table was treated like I was invisible and not given any service. I even tried to flag down the waiter to make an order and she just looked past me and started taking the order of the people next to me who just sat down and that was after I waited for 35 minutes. Headed to Greenpoint for breakfast, so naturally i wanted to go to Peter Pan. But my friend suggested Bakeri. What a treat to walk into this place. It's surprisingly large, super charming, and has a great selection of pastries and breads. (This is definitely part of the "new" Greenpoint, not an old school Polish joint that you might expect in Greenpoint or Manhattan Aves.) Order at the counter, grab a seat, and the friendly staff will bring you your food. Coffee, mini croissants, and monkey bread were all great. We came here for breakfast and weren't disappointed. First off, you're overwhelmed by the delicious bread smells as you approach closer to the restaurant/bakery. Upon entering you get a vintage/French country vibe with stacks of baked goods behind the glass to your left. You can order at the register and sit at one of the tables. I highly recommend sitting at the countertop towards the back, because you can watch bakers make delicious bread/treats. I had the scrambled eggs and smoked fish. This place has such a cute and cozy interior. I only came here for the matcha and cookie for takeout and boy was it expensive! The matcha was over $6 and came in a mini cup (like the ones you use to rinse your mouth at the dentist)..it wasn't even normal size. Probably the smallest drink I've ever ordered for $6! I then got a sugar cookie, which was $5+ that tasted just ok. I hope the regular food on the menu comes in bigger portions at a better price. read more

Wife and I checked this place out on our friends recommendation. I had a biscuit, egg and cheese sandwich. The eggs were fluffy and cooked very well, but the star of the show was the house made biscuit. I wish I could have eaten a dozen of them. Also, had the fresh squeezed OJ and a cappuccino, both were delightful. Not a ton of seating but we went in on a Monday around 10. This place would be on my regular rotation if I was a local. I've been to bakeri plenty of times in williamsburgh and its definitely my favorite coffee spot in the neighbor. But yesterday I stop by the new place in Greenpoint for lunch and had the chance to sit outside as it was such a sunny spring day. The place offers a nice communal table inside where you can see the big open kitchen. I tried a green salad, kale, kasha, seeds, raisins, fennel,olives, and the girls there added for me a hard boiled egg as I wanted some protein! It was amazing ! My favorite bakery in Greenpoint, which actually says a lot, because there's probably nearly half a million of them. Anything from the pastry case is excellent and their fresh sourdough bread is bananas (it does not have bananas, it is bananas good though). Seems like they rotate the goods too, so there's always a reason to go back. The staff is super friendly and they serve Counter Culture coffee which is a rarity in the hood. My only critique is the brunch menu is a little boring, but I've only had a few things and they've all been quite good, but just, well maybe not fireworks interesting. read more

All of the baked goods are awesome. Most of the staff is awesome. $10 minimum on cards is total bullshit. It's no longer illegal, and I can see why some places would try to do it, but they're using Square which takes a percentage of every transaction and does not charge any sort of fee for small transactions. It's only purpose is to get people to spend more money/cover costs from the credit card companies, which is totally nuts considering the already very high prices here. It's especially irritating that they want you to pay at the end rather than at the time of making your order - meaning when it's time to pay you have to wait in line again, also meaning that if you didn't know about the minimum you'd be screwed because whatever you order is non-returnable now. But the staff... :(( they've always been on the curt side - not very friendly or service-minded. But last time I was there I literally had it!! I waited 15 minutes for a smoothie and when I asked for it the girl behind the counter rolled her eyes at me. I tried to explain that I was in a hurry and if they had forgotten it, it was fine but then I'd have to leave cause I was running late. This review is purely for one person not the cafe itself because the cafe is wonderful (so is the rest of the staff!) but I simply could not let this go unnoticed. I live around the corner and this is my go to spot but never have I experienced the service like I did yesterday. A flamboyant, short (blond?) haired boy - Jesus I believe was his name - was sooo rude he literally left me speechless. A friend and I came in during a very busy time, people swarming everywhere, nowhere to take an extra step and we had a baby with us to top it off. We see a spot at the communal table and try to settle down to get out of the way so others can place their others. I take the dirty dishes sitting on the table to the counter and ask if there's a place I could take these to. I wasn't making a point of any sorts, wasn't trying to be rude, simply was trying to help out during a rush hour. To this Jesus responds "leave the dishes where they were and wait until someone takes them away" a pretty rude response to begin with but the hostility that he said it with left me just standing there with nothing to say, just staring blankily at my friend. At which point he goes again "I TOLD YOU" being as short as one would be with a toddler who broke something valuable "to leave them on the table" The rest of our time there the rest of the staff was extremely caring as if trying to make up for his behavior. BUYER BEWARE: I'd go to Bakeri to buy a loaf of bread. The counter girl before even handing over my bread asks for a tip. Trust me if you haven't experienced it, you have no idea how awkward it feels, I want to tip but this is 100% unjustified and unjustifiable. Tip for what?! In what Universe does passing a bread over the counter justify a tip? How rude and greedy! When I called them out on it they said others tip for bread because it's hard for the young girls to stand behind the counter... SERIOUSLY?! Your practices are NOT OK. RUDE. GREEDY. I had visited Bakeri before and loved it, but last week my friend and I came in with a service dog and we were told we couldn't eat inside. Despite us explaining that he was a medical alert dog and exempt from normal health code laws, they continued to (very rudely) tell us we had to leave. It was hurtful and pretty disappointing. I messaged the business later to try to encourage them to educate their employees on rights for people with disabilities but never heard back. Needless to say, I will never go there again. read more

This place is on my street so I go frequently but, dang, I've never seen so much incompetence. First, the table in the middle and line to the register make any semblance of order impossible. Second, the staff is extremely slow, easily confused and consistently rude. Third, speaking of consistency, some days the baked goods are great, other times inedible. Blonde girl behind the counter was sweet and inviting. Service from all the staff was above average. CONS: Overpriced pastries and baked items. They're just too expensive considering their size. You shouldn't have to pay almost 4 bucks for a good pastry when there are tons of other bakeries in the area. Selection was pathetic. Only a few items were visible. I am really into bread and wherever I travel I try all the best, most recommended bakeries. Actually, I am a bit obsessed about bread and during my most recent visit to NYC I felt extremely happy when I realised that my Airbnb accommodation was in the same street at Bakeri. I was really looking forward to trying out this small, cute, little bakery! The place looks really pretty and the girls behind the counter are smiley and friendly. The selection of sweet and savoury goods is more than decent, the apple cider mini-rolls and blueberry buckwheat muffins. I got a baguette, which is the benchmark bread - you know what I mean? - and the cardamom biscotti. Now, the baguette looks fantastic, the crust is just perfect, dark and crunchy. The bread could taste a bit more of... Well, bread. It does not taste of sourdough and the inside is not as "chewy" as a French style baguette normally is. But I am being picky here and the bread was overall very good and above average. The biscotto on the other hand is awesome, such a good idea!! read more

I've decided that I enjoy this place. Wasn't sure whether to give it 3 stars or 4 stars. Clearly I settled on 3. Here's why: PROS: -The location is a tucked away haven in a quiet part of Greenpoint. It's also a block away from where I live. The decor is absolutely fantastic. I know Bakeri is supposed to pay homage to Scandinavian bakeries, but I think it is more Parisian. The floral wallpaper and little nuances (including the mixed dishware) make this place unique without being pretentious. -The pastries are pretty good. I had the best brownie of my life yesterday. It was a raspberry marble cheesecake brownie. It was not cake-y at all, but rather fudge-y and dense. The ingredients melted in my mouth and I fought my boyfriend for his half. I've also tried carrot cake cupcake/muffins and they've been good...albeit slightly dry. CONS: -The baristas are slow. Frothing milk is an art form, sure, but you guys aren't Michelangelo. Let's whip that latte up a bit faster. My pastry came out before the lattes. At least bring them together. -Prices are ridiculous. I can't come here regularly because I'd be spending at least $10 on pastries and coffee -I've come in here a handful of times when the pastry case has been surprisingly barren. I understand the desire to keep pastries fresh, but if I come in two hours before close, there should be some selection available. It was a hard choice to give this 3/5 stars. I wholeheartedly enjoy the ambiance and the delicious brownies, but this place needs some improvement. read more

This hidden corner of Greenpoint reminds me why I'm so fortunate to live here.The decor is that of a rustic dollhouse/factory (?) that allows you to transport to a delightfully unfamiliar place.
