Rigatoni / Vodka Fried Chicken Cutlet (side)Garlic Bread w/ Basil Butter and Parmesan
    Jessica G.

The garlic bread was nice and crispy, the chicken cutlet was the perfect golden brown and a great complement to the penne vodka. The chicken sausage was a great meal with a delightful light sauce.

We stopped into Carmenta's and tried a little bit of everything: vodka pasta, the spicy eggplant parm sandwich on garlic bread, and the rice balls. We overall had such a great experience. They accidentally charged me for a side of garlic bread and made the sandwich incorrectly at first, but the staff was incredibly kind and proactive about fixing it. They remade the sandwich, refunded the extra charge even though I had already paid, and really went out of their way to make it right. I sincerely appreciated that & don't think most places would go that extra mile. The garlic bread deserves its own shoutout...some of the best I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, buttery... just amazing. The rice balls were also a star of the table: super flavorful, cheesy, and garlicky. My brother loved the vodka pasta, and while I was a little bummed there's no vegetarian option for it, he said it was delicious. I got the spicy eggplant parm sandwich and really enjoyed it. The flavors were bold and had a nice kick. There were a few bites where the eggplant breading got a bit soggy, but overall it was satisfying and unique. Affordable, flavorful dishes, great people, and a cozy vibe. Despite the small hiccup, I appreciated how attentive they were. I'll definitely be back to try the pesto pasta!

Cant wait to come back. The turkey salsa verde sandwich was divine! Had it with a Yerba mate soda. $20 bucks. There were so many other tasty looking things in the menu and the staff were super nice. At the time some 90's hip hop was playing. Im legit excited to return.

I was recommended this restaurant by a family member during my quick trip to NY. Talk about an absolute delicious sandwich and awesome customer service! I would definitely put the chicken parmesan sandwich among the top 10 sandwiches i've ever eaten. The bread was super delicious, crunchy, and perfect for this sandwich. The chicken and the sauce were equally delicious. I highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area.

    Meatball Parm

Came on a Sunday around lunchtime and it wasn't busy, so we easily grabbed seating. Meatball parm sandwich was awesome. Will have to come back for the rigatoni! 4.5 stars.

The eggplant Parmesan hero here is like an Italian torta ahogada - drenched from head to toe in their piquant tomato sauce, and very difficult to eat from a practical standpoint. The breaded eggplant is separated into delicate thin slices adorned with a relatively light layer of stretchy white cheese. Maybe it's because I'm a hater and it's easy to dislike Major Food Group's empire of overhyped restaurants, but I'm going to say that Carmentas' eggplant parm hero is better than the one at Parm.

Paccheri with white wine and guancale

Authentic shop that we stumbled by and had handwritten menu and daily pasta and sandwich specials. We got a paccheri with guancale, buttered cabbage and white wine, and also a red sauce ragu pasta. Took a bit of time but we could tell everything was made to order from scratch. Personally, I liked the San marzano sauce a bit better due to the acidity of the tomato. The paccheri ended up being a bit heavy and dense to eat due to all the butter.

Went twice with in two weeks and I'll be back again. I got the chicken parm and spicy rigatoni each time. I definitely do wish the rigatoni had more pork, but regardless the food is really good. The freshness, the sauciness, and cheesiness bring these meals together. The guys there are also kind. It's a cute storefront with limited seating so you might have to go enjoy the food somewhere else if it's the packed.

What a treat and wonderful experience! Food was amazing and staff was kind! Loved that we found this jewel on our short trip to NY! Hoping we can visit it again!

    Spaghetti Daviola and Marinated Artichokes

Came here for a late lunch/early dinner on a rainy Sunday, and there was only one other table of people. It's a pretty small space, but there's nice seating along a counter so you can people watch while you're eating. You order at the front, and then they bring it to you when your order is ready. We shared a spaghetti dish as well as as a side of marinated artichokes. The spaghetti was absolutely delicious, and the sauce was so good. I wish that I had extra pasta to finish up the sauce with. The artichokes were not bad, but we did both get stomach aches after, so we are pretty sure it might have been the artichoke... I can definitely see myself coming here when I'm craving Italian food if I'm in the area!

    Mafalde with beef bolognese

I came here with a friend on a Sunday night for dinner. We got there around 7pm, and all the tables were full. The inside is like a deli, so there isn't a ton of seating. We decided to get our pasta to-go. By the time our food was ready, some tables had freed up, so we took a seat with our take-out containers. I had the mafalde with beef bolognese. The pasta was incredible; it was homemade, texturally very exciting, and al dente. My friend had the radiatore with kale pesto, which was also very good.

I give this place a 4.1/5 it was a good taste but I like my pasta cooked a little more. The sauce was so good and the beef tastes like it's been cooked for hours in a good way and the flavor is very rich with real flavors. The chicken parm was amazing even tho I took it to go and ate it the next day because the portions from my pasta was so large. The service was a little slow in my opinion but that's how it goes when they are focused on making every order right. The place isn't fine dining but more of a convenience place you can pop in eat some amazing food with cool tiled floors and red colors.
