We stopped into Carmenta's and tried a little bit of everything: vodka pasta, the spicy eggplant parm sandwich on garlic bread, and the rice balls. We overall had such a great experience. They accidentally charged me for a side of garlic bread and made the sandwich incorrectly at first, but the staff was incredibly kind and proactive about fixing it. They remade the sandwich, refunded the extra charge even though I had already paid, and really went out of their way to make it right. I sincerely appreciated that & don't think most places would go that extra mile. The garlic bread deserves its own shoutout...some of the best I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, buttery... just amazing. The rice balls were also a star of the table: super flavorful, cheesy, and garlicky. My brother loved the vodka pasta, and while I was a little bummed there's no vegetarian option for it, he said it was delicious. I got the spicy eggplant parm sandwich and really enjoyed it. The flavors were bold and had a nice kick. There were a few bites where the eggplant breading got a bit soggy, but overall it was satisfying and unique. It's a pretty small space, but there's nice seating along a counter so you can people watch while you're eating. You order at the front, and then they bring it to you when your order is ready. We shared a spaghetti dish as well as as a side of marinated artichokes. The spaghetti was absolutely delicious, and the sauce was so good. I wish that I had extra pasta to finish up the sauce with. The artichokes were not bad, but we did both get stomach aches after, so we are pretty sure it might have been the artichoke... I'm not sure what they use in it, but I don't think there's any basil. The flavor is different than I expected, but topping it with breadcrumbs was a nice touch. Soooo messy... but sooo good. We went here for their vaulted meatball sub. Honestly, meatball subs are not really my thing. I typically like a well-contained sandwich that I can eat without using too many napkins and minimal spillage (it's my Southern manners and sensibilities, I'm sure ;)...
