    Bakersfield College water polo team
    Lisa R.

Bakersfield College is huge! It is a bummer if you dont know where you're suppose to go then you dont know where you should park at. My niece is on the water polo team at BC and I went to her game yesterday. I just picked a parking lot where I seen visitor parking and started walking. There were construction going on so I knew not to walk towards that. I wish there were signs pointing where the gym was or where the pool was, ect. I just started walking, I saw the gym, it was locked. I kept walking, a bit shy to ask someone for help. I finally saw a map and saw where the pool was so i turned around and the pool was by the old gym , down the stairs. There were benches for the players and the guests and there were canopies. Some people even brought their own chairs which I gotta remember to do in the future. It was free to enter. My niece also said football games are free as well. It was a great game, i always love seeing my niece. I didn't agree with the coach's substitutions but that's College sports.

This is my second tome coming here, it was easy to find and parking is not bad here at all. Unless I was just lucky the two times I came here. The campus is big and there gonna contraction so it looks like another building is coming. Headed to the administration office if you look too your left the view is breath taking, it a Mountain View it's something you can differentially get lost in thought. The people the admin office are college students, not too professional but there kids so what do you expect. We walked up and half of them are in their own conversation just laughing, good times. That being said there was no wait when we walked up and our question was answered and the girl seemed like she knew what she was talking about and if she didn't she wouldn't make up anything lol. It's a beautiful campus.

Both have been supportive, knowledgeable, and clearly care about student growth. I truly appreciate the instruction and guidance I received from them throughout the program. They have both helped me in furthering my education and focusing on my career. With that being said, I did experience some challenges with communication along the way with the overall school itself. There were times when I reached out with issue or concern and it would either take weeks or I didn't receive a response at all, when certain things were discussed or promised and I felt they weren't fully followed through. This made parts of the process more stressful than they needed to be, especially in a program that already requires a lot of dedication and effort. This is not an easy program, and it's important to understand that you have to be determined and willing to put in the work. This is not something that's handed to you--you truly have to earn it. However, I will say that if you remain persistent and advocate for yourself, the school does make efforts to support you and follow through. Overall, while there is room for improvement in communication, the quality of education and the commitment of key staff members made the experience worthwhile for me and I know this schooling experience will stay with me the rest of my life

I created this account just today to inform anyone interested in knowing. When I found out they closed down and I wanted to see if other people had similar horrible experience has I did. I was flabbergasted when I found a review (3 reviews down) under my name. Which they misspelled my first name as Destiny. Then wrote a "glowing" review of experience "I" had during my time there. I knew it was "me" because of the name, I did attending during July 2021 and they had information about previous courses I've taken they got from the resume I GIVEN THEM WHEN I APPLIED HERE. I was horrified they had the audacity to do this. I hope no joined the program because of that review. My personal experience there was fine until the end where Ann (who I am confident wrote 'my review') treated me extremely unprofessional and shouted at me where students right next to us heard everything, when I stated I couldn't do externship hours during the week she gave me and asked if reschedule them another week. I have never had anyone treated me the way she had to me and actually demotivated me to continue a career as a Phlebotomist. Anyways, just wanted to warn everyone they wrote fake reviews under previous students name and taken information they had from their records. I'm glad they shut down.

Cont. I also would check the google reviews as well as the better business bureau reviews as a lot of them mention the same thing i talked about above! i'm proud to say I still was able to get my certification elsewhere with a much better experience. however if you are looking for a cheaper alternative this is one way to go just be prepared for how they treat their students.

As the former hourly instructor for the technical orientation of the multifaceted pathway mentioned…read moreby Esmeralda below, I am providing a factual record of the EV charging class curriculum and program structure. The 9 hour orientation training covered many topics across electric vehicle and clean energy economics, technology, and careers including examples such as: Data-driven deep dive into the entire Electric Vehicle (EV) and Clean Energy economy, mapping the industry from global macro-data to micro-level engineering: Global Climate Science: Mechanisms of the greenhouse effect, average global temperatures, and thermodynamics of the climate crisis using data from NASA and the University of Alabama. Macro-Economics & Local Trends: Analysis of the global transition to clean energy, including EV ownership data specific to Bakersfield and Kern County compared to California and the U.S. Advanced Vehicle Technologies: In-depth study of BEV (Battery Electric), PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid), HEV (Hybrid), and FCEV (Hydrogen Fuel Cell) systems, including motor schematics, battery chemistries, and Zero Tailpipe Emissions science. Infrastructure & Hardware Standards: Technical requirements for microgrids, grid load requirements (e.g., 7.2 kVA per space), and the circuitry for Level 1, 2, and 3 chargers (including wattage and voltage). Global Plug Standards: Detailed training on the Japanese CHAdeMO standard, the CCS (Combined Charging System), and the NACS type. Career Development: Comprehensive analysis of the career landscape within the electric vehicle charging infrastructure installation industry, including current job demand, employer requirements and qualifications, and the specific professional conduct and technical proficiencies required for success. In general, the orientation covered subjects pertaining to the green economy and careers, ecosystems and climate science, electric vehicles, electric vehicle charging station technology and clean energy systems. The part I taught was just the beginning of a Four-Component Specialized Pathway: The first of four training pathways that also included: Specialized Electrical Safety: Comprehensive training on NFPA 70E standards, delivered by a dedicated District Specialist. Industrial Safety & Compliance: Specialized industrial safety principles necessary for high-voltage infrastructure installation, delivered by a second District Specialist. The IBEW Partnership: This program is a direct bridge to the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers)--the Gold Standard for the electric vehicle charging infrastructure installation industry. This included two weeks of hands-on training at the Union Center and a formal graduation. Exclusive Access: This is a specialized institutional partnership not available to the general public to 'walk in off the street.' While the program provides the technical foundation and this direct union immersion, final entry into a pre-apprenticeship is a competitive process decided independently by the union's board. Institutional Role & Oversight: My role was strictly limited to delivering the orientation curriculum. I was not the program manager, administrator, or advertiser. All program funding is managed directly by the District's financial office and is subject to rigorous state and federal audits, where every penny is accounted for to the government. Instructors have no access to grant funds. Instructors are paid a standard hourly wage for time spent conducting the training and must submit audited time cards through a standard payroll process. Instructional Style: PowerPoint is the industry standard for delivering this volume of high-density technical, scientific and economic data accurately. I appreciate all feedback and will consider incorporating more interactive handouts in the future. Finally, thank you for noticing the professional attire! I take pride in representing the program well. I wish all former students success in finding a career path that fits their goals.

I signed up for a…read moreclass on "working on charging stations for electric vehicles" and the instructors even claimed that I would be ready to begin a job in this industry soon after completing the class. Lies. What ended up happening was that all we got was a slideshow about electric vehicles the first day of class (to technically count as an electric vehicle class, it's just a front), the rest of the class had nothing to do with what had been advertised to us. The reason for this class to exist is so that the college can keep getting grant money, the more falsely advertised "classes" they have, the more grant money they get. They have many other classes that have similar titles or promises, like hydrogen vehicle class and other examples. Don't sign up for them, you'll just end up with what I got, a waste of time. The class was just a construction safety class and IBEW orientation course (which isn't necessarily bad, but I could've easily gotten this much quicker and easier on my own, instead of wasting a whole month of life going to these classes after getting lured by false advertising). Specifically, don't sign up for any class taught by Steve Manson, this guy lied to our faces so that he could swindle the state out of that sweet sweet grant money so that he can buy his pretentious designer suits and his precious little menthol cigarettes.

Not only did I pay 80,000 to get a mediocre education (at best), but now after I graduated I received a job offer and the school for whatever reason will not send our transcripts to the BRN so my class can take their NCLEX. I have alittle over a month to take my NCLEX or I lose my job offer. This isn't the first thing the school has done either. Starting in our second semester, they didn't give us our schedule until 2 days before classes started. Our first class was on zoom and they expected us to enroll ourselves in all our classes on moodle, not ever informing us of teaching us how to do it prior. Finally getting into the nursing program itself 3rd semester, we had a professor named Dr, Orton. She was our fundamentals professor and did not teach us not even 1 thing that whole semester. She was racist, unavailable, and rude. When someone had a problem in her class with something she would shut down and take it out on the whole class. 4th semester got better as Kirsten came in and tried to help fill in our grey areas. 5th semester during OB we had a pregnant professor, dr. Ria who only ever complained about being pregnant. At clinicals she was found laying down in a clean patients room taking a nap on the bed. To say embarrassing would be the least. She taught us very little and would be extremely upset if anyone asked her any kind of questions. 6th semester went well as we had Dr. Cavillo or Farhat. Probably top 5 professors there. Not to mention during this time we had 3-4 different deans, whom all changed the rules as they went along. When I graduated Sam Lynn was being exited as the dean. I believe she lied to us about a lot of things. She could never give us a straight answer on anything. She was really good at making word salads and never actually answering a single question you had. She told us to be prepared to take our NCLEX 2 weeks from May 11th, and we have not heard a single thing from her since. No one will directly answer the questions you have, no one cares how you feel or what you think. They want their money and after they get it, you're screwed. While admin and most professors are complete trash I do just want to mention the ones that are trying so hard to make a difference: Kirsten, Dakota, Ken, Alex, Angelica, the peds team (ABCD), and Farhat. These professors are the only ones that will care about you and try to make a difference in this mess of a school. DO NOT ATTEND HERE, YOU WILL REGRET IT
