Who would've known Bakersfield has a hidden gem of a KOA campground, where "The Crest" movie theater used to be. The facilities, quite literally all of them, were incredibly and painfully obviously clean and maintained. The pool, gym, laundry, RV sites, all exceedingly clean. I also want to take a moment to give a shout out to the Crest Bar & Grill. This KOA has a GREAT place to eat, the food was good & massive servings. All the staff, from the camp staff to the grounds guys & the waitresses / waiters at the diner were ON POINT. We stayed here for one night on our way out to AZ The campground seemed really clean and showers and bathrooms were immaculate. We found our site very clean. The front desk was very kind. The place had a empty-feel to it and I guess the restaurant was not open. Had a brief run in with some fire ants biting our feet. I wish this place was in a better part of town. Coming in we felt like this was probably not the right side of town and once we saw that the grounds were gated our fears were confirmed. There was no funny business in the park, but we definitely locked up our bikes and didnt leave anything out. We will probably check out a different spot on the way home. read more

This place has gone downhill since KOA took over. The sites are covered w dry grass and stickers. We picked 50 out of our dog after being in the grass for a few minutes. The campground is empty and we asked to stay until 1 and they said they had to charge us a full day. They charged us 25 to stay an extra hour. We've been staying here 20 years. No more read more

People come from all over to stay at this beautiful secure place, we used to go to the Old Drive In, in the 1970's, 1980's, and 1990's. Our friends from Montana, who drive south for the winter, stay at this great KOA RV Park every year, and especially like the Alfredo Pasta. We like the Happy Hour (until 6 P.M.).The Egg Rolls are totally unique, and come with sweet and sour sauce. My other favorite is the Potato Skins, with sour cream and chives on the side. Our Server and Bartender was highly attentive...way more than average, along with her co-workers, and especially the gentleman who promptly removes used plates and utensils, and is super friendly and appreciative. read more

Always stay here on our trips down South... the suggestions I have are pretty simple... to improve. Add breakfasts in The Crest. When you are planning another full day on the road, it would be lovely to be able to grab breakfast first. Also, why does the staff want to place RVs so far from the building? Very clean and well kept KOA. The showers, restrooms, gym and laundry room are well stocked and clean. We didn't eat at their on-site restaurant, Crest Bar & Grill, but I was told the food was good. However, we discovered So. Cal. Tamal only a 5 minute walk away, and the food was outstanding. The only drawback of this KOA is you can hear street traffic all day and night, and the light coming into your camper from the street lights is a little annoying at night. read more

My husband and I stayed here for 7 months during the start of the pandemic which was unfortunate because we did not get to enjoy the pool or the gym. The good: We ordered from the Crest Bar and Grill a few times for take out which was a plus. The office staff and the camp hosts were friendly and helpful. Even the ever unpopular Brian was pleasant towards me. I never got any of the negative attitude or meanness from him that many others have mentioned. They helped with propane, packages, any issues that came up, they responded in a timely manner. The bad: The sprinklers sprayed on the trailer/cars/cement. The "grass" is mostly weeds, the street noise (drag racing and trains) was very loud and kept us up many nights, the weekly lawn mowing/edging so close to the cars and trailer did make me nervous. My bike was chained up outside and someone cut the chain and stole my bike. A handful of other long term guests had items such as coolers and bikes stolen, heck a work vehicle was even stolen. Sadly, the gated community was not enough to keep the bad people out. I would say this park is good for overnight or a week tops, but stay here long term and the cons may start to outweigh the pros. read more

Last minute change of plans heading back home. I was able to call and get someone on the phone to answer my questions before booking. We had our doubts altering reading the Yelp and other site reviews but overall if you are just looking for a hot shower, place in between the bay area and SoCal for the night this will do the trick. We checked in late (around 12 am) and we got the text with gate code etc around 530 pm. Just in case after reading the reviews here in the notes in the reservation we said we would be coming later than 630 pm. Our welcome packet was where it was supposed to be and it was easy to find our spot. As other reviews have said very clean bathrooms and showers. After being at beaches and state parks this was a welcome change. Our dog was able to run around in the k9 park area before starting the trip back home. Overall we don't really pay attention to the amenities at KOAs but the gym and the pool looked decent. read more

We were told we were getting cold via text or email since we were arriving after hours . No text , no calls , no emails with codes to get in , we arrived after hours , couldn't get in and waiting for someone that had a code to get in . On in, found our spot and both our motorhome and the vehicle we were pulling were in the middle of both streets . Very disappointed at their customer service if they have one !!!!!!! Disappointed with our last stay here, they advertise a heated pool online yet the pool was totally cold on our recent visit. When asked they tried to give several lame excuses why the pool was not heated. I think the place has gone down hill a bit since going KOA. #1. We have stayed here for years going to & from Las Vegas & to and from Palm Springs, and anytime we just head south from Lodi, Ca. We have never been given the site we want, ever!! Even when we travel alone and no matter how in advance we make reservations. When we travel with friends, they have a Motorhome we have a 5th wheel, we can't even get a site near them. I guess this establishment is prodigious against 5th wheels, because they have never put us any where near them or even in a site close to where they are! What the hell!! Give me a break. A site is a site! #2. The pool & spa are open 7am until 8pm. What the hell, who gets up at 7am and who wants to go to bed at 8!! Are you kidding me and I'm almost 70!! We enjoy the pool & spa at least until 10. #3. And last but not least. Who eats breakfast at 11. The Crest use to be open for breakfast!! #4. Oh yeah, one last thing. We loved their Calamari appetizer in the afternoon with a cocktail. Not anymore, half of what it use to be! Very disappointed! read more

This is the best KOA around! The grounds were beautiful and taken care of. I hope it stays that way. They told us this place used to be privately owned and just became a KOA. They have large parking spaces in front to leave your rig while you check in. Someone drives a golf cart and leads you to your site. Every site has a picnic table and a small cement slab and almont every site had at least one tree. They told us to try to keep everything off the grass because they were trying to grow it nice. (I can totally respect that.) They have a grassy dog park tucked away in the back with sail shades. There were also other small areas for dogs to sniff around and do their thing. There was a huge grass area in front of the complex too that was great. The pool was heated and was so nice. They have a cool bar/restaurant called the Crest that a lot of locals go to. We can't wait to go back. It was so relaxing. read more

We have stayed here many times, normally for two days as a convenient stopping point to another destination. We are currently here March, 2025. One improvement I really like is they now have free 5G Internet. They don't have cable, but I believe just using our antenna we are getting around 70 tv channels. The pool and spa are open. We always enjoy the restaurant on site, Crest Bar & Grill. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Negatives: maybe a bit of work on the landscaping, but overall we really enjoy this place. read more

The office staff was super friendly. The restaurant was amazing. Great burger homemade salad dressings. The park has tons of weeds poking up, the grass is all starting to die, the palm trees have dead branches hanging. Not sure we would stay here again. It's a great halfway point. read more

We stayed here Sept & Oct 2020 for 1 week each time, so that we could visit our new grandson. I requested that Ed Patterson the owner give me a call back to discuss our concerns, he refused to call us back. What kind of business doesn't follow up on serious issues? 10/12/2020 I left for several hours to go shopping, came back and the power was out on our unit and it was hot as hell inside. 10/13/2020, again I left for several hours, only to come back to find power was at our unit again. It was like an oven in there. So, for 2 days in a row our power goes out and no one was even there. There's nothing worse than coming back with groceries to your RV to find out that there is no power, especially on such extremely hot days. I called the office and they said that they would send someone over. Brian a short aggressive dark haired man was mad & yelling at me, telling me that I was using too much power/wattage. He continued with you probably have hairdryers, coffee pots, toasters & a whole bunch of appliances plugged in. I explained to him that we have traveled the US in this unit and are not new to using it. I asked him to explain why would it go out if we aren't even in the RV and nothing was on, except for the air conditioner ? I also told him that the ladies in the office told me that site 148 had issues and wasn't working. He got really mad and yelled that they don't know anything. (The office staff told me that we should use site 139). This of course after the 2nd day of no power. Luckily, we had an extension on board and I asked them to help switch us over. I surely can't do it, it's too heavy. They were nice enough to switch me over to site 139 and what do you know, we never had an issue with the power. BEWARE SITE 148 DOESN'T WORK. I even explained to Brian that we didn't have power issues in September when we came. He still refused to acknowledge their faulty site. He left and I locked myself in the unit, I was a little scared. All of a sudden there is a forceful pounding on my door. I was kind of scared to open it, it was Brian who handed me a listing of items and their wattage. He said that I should know these things since it was my fault and I overloaded the system. WTH, now he's harassing me and scaring me even more. I stayed in my unit the rest of the week. He's a very scary, aggressive guy, with what seems nothing better to do than harass the woman at the park. Funny thing, Brian doesn't come around when my man is present. Brian is so mean it's ridiculous. If you read the other reviews you will see a pattern. He's apparently like this especially with the females. He drives around in his golf cart looking for any kind of violations, so that he can run over and and jump into action. I feel like I have to stay in my RV when I'm there because every time I come out there's staff in golf carts lurking around. For example, if you sit in your lounge chairs outside, they come by and slow down and watch you. They do this all day, they drive really up close even onto the grass and watch you. It's scary, they make it uncomfortable to eat outside, sit in a lounge chair, or get some sun. It's just really creepy. The sprinklers come on every day and they're not set up right so they are hitting everything and they don't really have grass, it's weeds and crab grass that they are watering. The water sprays everywhere and you can't leave your coach. The gardener that comes on Wednesdays is not careful here. They use weed whackers in the gravel and to cut weeds. They edge the so called grassy areas, which sends the gravel flying onto the coaches. I was inside our coach while hearing the tink, tink, tink of rocks and sand hitting our coach which has custom paint. They pretty much sand blast and dent the sides of the coaches. I spoke with several neighbors while we were there and they weren't to happy with the way they were being treated. Most were just there for a night. The also experienced the golf cart guys putting them in the wrong site and having to move their units and felt uncomfortable being outside of their coaches. On the plus side, they have a gate which they lock at night and that's why we chose this place to begin with. I hoping that the owner sees this and calls me. read more

The sites themselves are good, which you would expect from a KOA- clean, flat, small concrete pad for picnic table, and crushed gravel parking spots. The roads are smooth and flat which made scootering fun for the kids. Aside from that, I have no positive things to say. The "playground" is extremely small, something you'd have in your backyard. The "mini golf" is a joke, so small, and some of the holes are not even functional. There is a train track that runs right by the campgrounds and trains go through all hours of the day and night. They lay on their horn repeatedly until they've passed. There is a code for the bathrooms and showers, but no code or lock for the pool which is not safe considering we saw homeless people walking around the campground. One night we called security about a homeless man who was walking through the campgrounds at 9:45 pm with his arms full of things that were obviously not his. The next morning we found out that the pool had been vandalized and was closed for the rest of the week. They recommend that you lock all of your things up because they said they've had issues during the day as well. That's understandable since the front gates are open and unlocked all day long. But the walls around the property do have spikes on top of them (which is never a good sign). They do not allow easy ups or any kind of shade besides an umbrella in the table. They do not allow anything on the grass on your site, including chairs. The sprinklers next to our site were broken and flooded underneath the trailers every night, even on the weekends when maintenance said the sprinklers shouldn't have been running. There were flies, cockroaches, red ants, beetles, etc throughout the campground. The surrounding area isn't good either- the day the pool closed for who knew how long, we took the kids to River Park & playground and witnessed two homeless men fighting and cussing at each other. We couldn't even use the restrooms there because homeless people were camped out in front of them. Would not recommend- don't go here. There are much nicer places elsewhere. read more

They're not fixing the gates and reuse to get security at night! I can not even give this place a 1. We arrived to KOA on 7/23 with reservations for two nights. We were having issues with our truck so my husband took it over to Ford. When i went out of the trailer it had a flat tire ( we were having bad luck) I called our road side assistance & when the tow truck driver showed up the manager would not let him on property without a certificate of insurance. His company emailed it but it was not for a million dollars! Anyway long story short the manager will only let her approved road side assistance companies on site. We have USAA so anyone who is military or retired military do not camp here! She threw us off property & threatened to call the police on me. I will be writing to KOA about her everyone else there was nice. I think she must be getting kick backs from"her" companies. We left as soon as the tire & truck were fixed & the Ford dealership was wonderful. It's really to bad because it is a nice place but the manager is an awful person! It was so upsetting. Did she really expect us to abandoned our almost new 36 foot travel trailer!! We have camped at KOA for decades and have never had such a horrible experience. read more

Generally a nice place but a bit expensive. Whatever you do, do not do ANYTHING to upset them. We overflowed our the drinking water tank as we were leaving and they "flagged" our account to not return. We didn't find out until we tried to rebook. No call, no request for explaination, just left us hanging to fine something at the last moment. When we tried to talk to a manager, no one returned the call. Obviously, not a place to return. Be very careful during your stay. The nice smiles are backed by a big stick. read more

The manager, Cheri, is unprofessional and very rude. She will stalk each campsite (or have her husband do it) and give you a warning for every little thing (if your kids aren't on a leash, if you took anything out of the basement of your camper, if your pets step foot outside of your camper without proper licensing) and three strikes, you're out. If you are planning to stay more than a night or two, plan to have your time ruined. She will put you in a campsite too small for your camper so the over nighters can have the bigger sites. Overnighters are given picnic tables but monthly aren't allowed to have one or their site is deemed "messy". She can't stand kids being kids so if you have a family, don't let them leave your site, she will be watching. Each monthly site will have CHAPTERS of "notes" on your KOA profile over petty things -- some things may not even been about you, your family and your site but that doesn't stop them from shaming your profile. Overall, the park is nice and the amenities and the restaurant is great but Cheri will make you run for the hills. We have complained to KOA headquarters personally and hope they do something about this before the campground goes belly up. The park was almost full when we got there but after 3 months of Cheri's reign of terror, almost everyone had left (and it's a big campground!) and most of us will not come back, perhaps to any KOA, thanks to this one! read more

I truly want to like this Bakersfield RV Resort. Great location and easy to navigate a 43 foot 5th wheel thru the entrance. Very nice reception area and welcoming professional personnel at the welcome desk. Amenities look good, but unfortunately COVID-19 kept us from enjoying the pool area. Really friendly and helpful RV neighbors. Most seem to be just coming in through for a day or 2 on the way to somewhere else. We've stayed her twice and had a much better experience the first time. The 2nd weekly visit is where everything went downhill quick. After a later arrival I was guided to the spot by a really distracted golf cart guide who apparently had something better to do than help me. Asking for help required him reluctantly getting out of the golf cart to watch the back end, seemed to be too much to ask. (thankfully I insisted because the side would have badly scraped against a tree and taken out an awning) After 3 tries and him putting me into different spots, seems to support the contention by other reviewers that the golf cart guys are pro-occupied with getting stoned at night. The plan was for me to drop the coach off and then head home back to the SF Bay Area for a few days and have my woman feel safe with the security gate and staff around. I got a very upset call from her while home that she had an unfortunate encounter with an aggressive short bearded dude that was unnecessary and uncalled for. The front office staff had previously indicated that there was a known issue with the 50 amp service we happened to plug into. Not according to aggressive little dude, it was apparently all her fault and he berated her for "over" using it. (Absolutely silly, we never have had any other problem like this in our 5+ years of owning it) Reading other reviews, it seems that this "Brian" individual has been openly hostile to other women. (Sorry dude if your life boils down to being the lord of an RV park) Of course when I got back in town nobody said a word to me or my woman, kind of seemed like they actually avoided us from my perspective. Ok, so fair enough, I'm a pretty physically imposing dude but a helluva nice guy. So we figure that's pretty much the end of it. Wrong, we tried to make arrangements to stay for a month so my woman can visit her newborn grandson and I could go back and forth. Now we find out there's a "problem" and out application was not approved not only for the month, but forever. Really....you want to take it this far after we did absolutely nothing wrong? Let's call it what it is, punishment for my woman leaving a very honest 3 star Yelp review. Being adults, we decided to try and contact the owner and try and peacefully resolve. Nope, Ed Patterson hides behind his office staff and doesn't have the courage to call anyone back. Take it from me, being a highly successful business owner myself, this is precisely what you get when the employees run the show with an owner not taking responsibility. (Wake up Ed, we along with others are trying to tell you something) Oh and by the way, thanks for scratching and chipping up my full custom paint job with your careless gardener and their weed whacker throwing rocks all over. I didn't even bother to raise the issue, seems pretty obvious no one gives a crap..... And finally, do something about those damn mosquitoes and black widow infestation in the electric and water hookups (if it hasn't happened yet, someone is going to get seriously hurt). I normally don't get bit that much by mosquitoes......I must have had a hundred bites all over my legs and the swelling and itching lasted 2 weeks. The little ones couldn't even go outside at night, absolutely ridiculous and preventable. read more

I am giving this place a 5 stars mainly because the bathrooms and showers were amazing. It as a great way to end our vacation. It was raining and the pool and hot tub was open. The pool was just as warm as the hot tub. It was the best family experience. The staff was friendly. The restaurant looked clean and fun although we didn't eat. So much fun. read more

Friendly, accommodating staff. Nice sites, super clean showers and restrooms, small gym and nice laundry facility. Excellent size hot tub and refreshing pool. The only negative is noise, noise from the roads and train. We even requested a site away from the street, since we experienced this during our last visit. We had site 178 and unfortunately this site was parallel to Pacheco road. Next time we come to Bakersfield RV Resort for The Rock Cobbler, we'll bring ear plugs. read more

When we stayed here in September 2020 we had our personalized license plate stolen. The next night someone tried to steal our expensive cooler but we had it cabled and locked to our trailer. It is a good campground to stop OVERNIGHT or for the WEEKEND, but if you stay for "Long term", be prepared for the manager and her husband to be up your rear with rules and attitude. Her "rule book" is a mile long and her husband is constantly walking around, "watching" everything to report back and tattle. They have "no desire" (managers words) to fix the cable although it is advertised on the website. They are not friendly or helpful. So just stop here temporarily but find somewhere else to stay full time. read more

Stayed November through February: The GOOD: The WiFi is barely adequate for email and the Cable TV doesn't even exist, they removed all of the boxes. The restaurant is excellent but also very expensive. The pool and hot tub are nice and very clean but closes at 8pm. The overnight rates are ridiculous. The BAD: Cheri the manager is belligerent and downright threatening. You literally cannot have a discussion without being told to "pack your shit and get out." Pass this one by if you have children -- each new edition of "the rules" which expands every couple of weeks make it clear that children are not welcomed and barely tolerated. Seriously -- look for CURRENT reviews and you'll get the picture. read more

We won't be back. The first time we stayed they shut off our water due to a broken pipe- didn't move us to another spot or even tell us they were turning off our water. We were left to stay in a flooded spot. It was all we could do to get in and out of our trailer or truck without wading in huge water puddles. No apology, partial refund - nothing. We came back again- our mistake- we came in 2 hrs before checkin and they charged us $25 when the place was nearly empty. This is a bare bones rv park- no tables, no fire pits just a dirt spot with a cement pad and hookups. read more

UPDATE: Brian and Danielle just kicked us out of the park, for my review, with 3 hours notice. DO NOT STAY HERE!! THEFT, FEES, MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE! We are Bakersfield residents that recently sold our home and looked for a safe RV park to stay in. We chose this park because it is gated and the gate closes at 9pm. We applied for long term and were accepted immediately. Despite there being multiple open long term spots available, we were given 2 sites to choose from. Back-in sites are $750. Our RV would not fit in the two sites we were offered. We called to inquire about other, larger, full-time sites. We were told they were not available and we would have to park in a pull-thru. These sites cost $800 a month. As a side note, they tried to charge us $100 a month because both cars didn't fit in our site. We had to re-arrange our site (the one they assigned us, btw, b/c the larger sites weren't available) to fit our RV and two cars. So, we moved to a pull-through site. Within 2 days of staying here, a fellow camper knocked on our door and said they just had 4 bikes stolen. His bikes were chained to his RV. He said we should put our bikes in at night. Our bikes were chained to our RV as well. We didn't put them away right away, which I regret. A day later, our chain was cut and my son's bike was stolen. We reported it to the office via a voicemail. They didn't call us back. We put the other bike in the back of our truck to take to our storage unit. That evening, at 3am, my husband's alarm went off. I ran outside and my bike was gone and I didn't see the thief. Mind you, we are near the back of the park and I'm not sure how they could have gotten away and out of site so quickly. The next morning, I apologized to our neighbor for our alarm. We got to talking about the theft. She told us they had been here for several months and that little things were stolen from their site, often. She had also made friends with other long term people that had various items stolen. I posted this to my social media as well...I immediately had 2 friends comment on my post. They had family members who were victims of theft, including bike theft, in the last 5 months! We were swimming at the pool yesterday and spoke to some other long-term residents. One gentleman has had his phone, ipad, stereo, cigarettes and a few other items stolen. He said he's lost about $5000 to this RV Park. He caught a kid in his site, one evening, after the gates closed. He chased the kid and he jumped the fence. Each person we have spoken to says that they have reported this to the park. When we spoke with Danielle this morning, she told us the park isn't aware of any theft. She told us to report it to the police. She offered no apology. She just said, we aren't responsible. I'm not sure how they park can't be aware of this when there appear to be many cases, just on what I've heard. There seems to be no interest in preventing thefts going forward, or working with the RV guests to resolve/make it right. Owners don't live on-site and "have been contacted." We have lost $1500 in the two weeks we have been here. We can't find another long term RV park fast enough!! Don't be lured by the "security gate!" There is a theft ring going on here and they are making a killing in this park. read more

As the first RV resort I have ever stayed, I am very satisfied with Bakersfield RV resort. We arrived late and the staff was very friendly and active to help us getting into the resort and the spot (the resort was gated). Special thanks to Rudy who helped us. The resort is clean and has spacious sites. The gated community grants security and the resort has all necessary services needed. It is close to Bakersfield downtown and stores for supplies. We discovered this gem while traveling to the coast from our home in Las Vegas. Now it is a must stop every time we travel through the area. We make it a habit to get here before happy hour. Quickly set up the trailer and off we go to the onsite restaurant (The Crest) for a nice meal and a glass of wine. The other amenities are very nice too. Pool and spa are clean and well organized and the bathrooms are immaculate with your own private bath/vanity/toilet area. We usually stay at least two nights to rest and enjoy this area. Unbelievable this place... we were asked to send a photo of our RV, which is older, but in great condition, no dents, random marks or anything but faded coloring from being in storage, in the sun over the years. We have stayed and been welcomed to higher end RV resorts and the manager/owners decided to deny our RV.
