Have had mixed feelings about this park. Previously dealt with an office conflict between two…read moreoffice girls, where we definitely became the "get back at you" tool. So we took 3 years off and went to another park on our way to AZ. This year we returned, just to give it a second chance. Went much better. But still feel like they have room for some customer service improvement. We arrived at 12:15... they close for 1hr for lunch at noon , and the door is not opened until 1:00. That was unexpected, but fine. Then they arrive and not over welcoming... no "welcome", "sorry for the wait", just an "how can I help you?" No longer do the offer orange picking sticks , and clearly state all rules in big bold letters. Just wish it was more like early visits we enjoyed at this park. Simply more welcoming . The groves are wonderful, the landscaping and plants are over the top beautiful. Sadly the vibe is not "welcome to our park"

Our site (65ft) was clean, spacious, well equipped, and provided us a great view of the orange grove nearby. Noise from hwy58 and occasional train was not an issue for us. The restroom-shower facilities were exceptionally clean and well kept! I had to compliment the caretaker gentleman directly for this. Our pet also enjoyed the pet area. Walking, biking path provided us great way to include a little exercise. This will definitely be our location stay for future visits with our son.

Five years. That's all you really need to know…read more You don't come back to the same campground year after year unless it's truly something special, and Camp Kernville is exactly that. Every summer we leave with incredible memories, and somehow Jim, Jennifer, and their amazing staff continue to raise the bar. Their hospitality is second to none, and they make every guest feel like part of the Camp Kernville family. This year was especially memorable because we had the opportunity to help get the new playground put together before the Fourth of July weekend. Seeing the pride and dedication Jim and Jennifer have for this campground only reinforced why we love coming here every year. Whether it's spending the day fishing in the Kern River, enjoying incredible food, relaxing around a campfire with family and friends, or simply soaking in the beautiful surroundings, Camp Kernville offers everything you could want in a camping trip. In a world where customer service often feels like an afterthought, Jim, Jennifer, and their staff are the exception. They genuinely care, they work incredibly hard, and it shows in every corner of the campground. Thank you for another amazing week and for making this our favorite family tradition for the past five years. We'll definitely be back for year number six, and we'll continue recommending Camp Kernville to anyone looking for an unforgettable camping experience.

She then directed us to another employee to finalize our reservation. Unfortunately, that interaction was disappointing. After a three-hour drive, it was discouraging to be met with a condescending attitude. We needed to update our reservation to reflect a different number of adults. We had no issue paying the additional fee, but the employee's tone and insistence that we pay immediately came across as rude, as though she assumed we were unwilling to pay. Thankfully, the staff member who had originally assisted us stepped in and explained that we had just arrived and were not objecting to the additional charge. Later that evening, around 8:30 p.m., a staff member approached our campsite and asked us to lower our music. While we understand and respect campground quiet hours, our music was not loud. We did have several children with us who were playing, but we were under the impression that quiet hours began at 10:00 p.m., and we fully complied with those rules. The manner in which the staff member addressed us felt unnecessarily rude. What made the situation more frustrating was that several other campsites remained much louder throughout the evening. We could clearly hear nearby groups singing, laughing, and playing music well past 10:00 p.m., with some not lowering their music until around 11:00 p.m. Despite bringing this inconsistency to the staff's attention, I did not feel that my concerns were addressed. The campground is pet-friendly, which we appreciate. However, there was frequent barking from dogs throughout the night. Normally, this would not bother us, but it seemed inconsistent that our campsite was singled out for noise while other ongoing disturbances, including loud music and barking dogs, were not addressed. Finally, the restrooms were consistently dirty during our stay. They appeared to be cleaned infrequently, and there seemed to be little urgency in maintaining their cleanliness. Overall, while we appreciated the friendliness of the staff member who initially welcomed us, the inconsistent enforcement of campground rules, the unprofessional attitude from another employee, and the lack of restroom maintenance negatively affected what could have been an enjoyable stay.
