I spoke directly to Mona multiple times to assure that the Leopard cake was exactly what I wanted. She was so patient and so nice to speak with. The cake was not only what I had envisioned and asked for but SO MUCH MORE! Everyone loved the cake and it really made my sisters day even more special. We had several of our guests point out and comment on the presentation of the cake, which was embarrassing for us. I've attached a side by side comparison of the photo we provided as our inspiration, and the end result. The colors weren't the same colors in the pallet that we described to you. The flowers were lavender and baby blue. our color pallet was deep peacock: navy blue, dark plum and olive green. In our tasting session, I said I didn't want any light blue colors, no turquoise, no pink or bright purple. The fondant was more of a royal blue than navy blue. There was only a slight touch of green on the leaves and it wasn't olive green. The fondant was bumpy and uneven and there was a crease on the side. The gold ribbon was also bumpy and uneven and looked sloppily put together. The foundation that the cake was sitting on was messily put together as you can see in the photos. We had to fix it ourselves to make it presentable for pictures. The foundation was also white, instead of navy blue. We can't use any of the cake pictures taken by our photographer for display or printing, the cake is nowhere near the beauty and molded precision that we expected to get for $750. Several of our guest commented on how horrible the cake looked which was very embarrassing.

It was chocolate with mocha filling and the fresh raspberries on top were pretty and yummy! 8" cake was seemingly huge and the four of us will try to finish before we fly to Asia in two days. The decoration on outside is trick. The presentation was a visual delight; the cake itself was dense with flavor and rich frosting which was not like the chemical stuff they seem to use in supermarkets. I opted for a cupcake and coffee. The smell was too good. I ordered an iced oat milk latte as well. I'm not a vegan but prefer nondairy milk in coffee. I didn't see many vegan options in the shop. However, chocolate buttercream and yellow cupcake is my go to and typically my favorite. It's a classic. I ordered and sat down to rest a minute and enjoy my upcoming treat. What I liked: 1. The cake to icing ratio was just the right amount. 2. The yellow cake was delicious and moist. What needed improvement: 1. The chocolate buttercream didn't have enough chocolate flavor. It was too much cream and not enough chocolate flavor. Would I go back? Sure, I'd go back to try other flavors. This may have been a batch that didn't get the right amount of chocolate.

The paper recipes don't 100% follow what the instructor is telling you, so definitely pay attention as they are demonstrating each step. We made fruit tarts and madeleines in this class, but the dessert menu rotates, so you can check which one interests you before you book ahead of time! They walk you through some of the baking techniques and it's a great hands-on experience. Whatever you bake you can try on the spot and they provide takeout boxes and bags for you to take the rest home. Highly recommend if you're looking for a group activity in the city!

I bought a class for my husband's birthday through CourseHorse and I'm so glad it brought us to this fantastic location to learn all about making macarons! I now appreciate why those tiny little cookies are so expensive! There is a lot of time and labor that goes into making them. We took a class on a Sunday afternoon with Chef Makenna, who by the way is very knowledgeable on cooking sciences, which my husband and I found fascinating as we are nerds at heart and loved learning about why everything was done the way it was and what the difference is between an Italian, French and Swiss meringue. She is also no-nonsense, which made me appreciate the class so much more. It was like taking an actual culinary course! The shop is quite small and they have 3-4 people to a table. I was slightly disappointed in this only because I had imagined my husband having a more solo hands-on experience for his birthday. It turned out to be fine and it was nice to meet new people and work together. Everything was pre-measured, the sugar was already boiling, and Chef Makenna made the meringue for us. The class is already almost three hours long, so I can understand why they do this in the interest of time. We were able to mix our ingredients, pick the color for the macarons and pipe our batter. We then worked together to make the lemon and caramel ganache filling which was fun. The strawberry filling is imported from France and was ready-to-go. I love that they sent us home with macaron templates for the baking sheet and the recipe and instructions (I highly doubt I'll make this on my own given all the tools you need and the amount of time it took). It was a fun class and I look forward to coming back to take the croissant class. I loved that we got to take home about 15 macarons each! They have a complimentary water, coffee and tea station and if you like you're also able to BYOB!
