The salad was tasty, but the portions were disappointingly small for the price. Unfortunately, the staff came across as cold and dismissive, with an attitude that made the experience feel unwelcoming. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, but with so many better options around, there's no reason to come back. Hard pass. read more

I love the special monthly flavors (especially blueberry, peach, & pumpkin) which are on more of a fluffy style soft brioche than the crunchy laminated ones. They also have challah "bagels" and access to a doc with all ingredients which is incredibly helpful for folks like me with allergies. read more

Yesterday Bakey provided brunch to 50 + attendees that was extremely fresh & delicious. Each person got a box of hus choice bagel and cream cheese with caprese/ pesto or avocado or smoked salmon. I ate my whole portion and saw a giant piece of chocolate babka . What a treat I had later in the day. WOW. Unfortunately I didn't try the coffee. Pleasantly surprised by our first visit to Bakey for breakfast. The lavender latte was great. Any place that makes house made syrup gets top marks. The potato boureka is mild in flavor but a filling savory side. The egg salad on an everything bagel was great, especially the bagel so airy and light, probably the softest bagel I've ever had. The babka, funny enough, was my least favorite of the lot. We got the blueberry one, and while it was good, it just didn't wow me. Next time I'll opt for a cream filled one perhaps. Service is at the counter and all food was ready made other than the egg salad bagel which took a little over 5-7 mins. Ambiance is clean, fresh, and bright. read more

Bakey is a very cute bakery I've started to see pop up in Boston ! I love that it's specialized in Babka, a pretty unique baked good. When I first walked into this location with my brother and fiancé, the person behind the counter was very kind to us, offering us free samples of their delicious chocolate babka, and offering his opinions and advice on their different specialties. We ended up buying the chocolate babka because we loved the sample so much, and the slice did not disappoint. It was chocolately and flavorful, I loveed it ! It also surprisingly kept for multiple days which was convenient for me because it was a pretty generous slice. I went back a few days later for lunch and tried their tuna salas which was incredibly rich and flavorful, and their potato pastry which was okay, but lacked a bit on flavor. Out of everything I tried, the babka is definitely their showstopper and when I'm back in the area, I'll definitely go back. read more

The staff here were friendly, and the overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing, with a nice seating area to enjoy pastries on-site. We tried a variety of pastries, with the almond pastry standing out as a favorite. It had a light almond flavor, was baked well, and had a perfectly flaky texture. this is the kind of hidden gem you're afraid to write about because when discovered there will be lines out the door. It happens to be across the street from my office and i can't say i really noticed it till recently. i went to a quick breakfast lunch this morning and picked up some cheese borekas. some tzatziki and some other treats. i chose a cheese stick to eat with the tzatziki and it was so delicious, flaky, flavorful and light. The young woman working there was so pleasant and accommodating and it will probs become a regular spot for me. It's a little hole in the wall that's clean and well lit. I don't want to compare different establishments but i was walking around the corner for my baked goods and coffee. Now i just have to walk across the street. read more

Stopped in early before classes today -- glad I did so! I grabbed a cold brew and, to my surprise, it was actually really tasty! It had a strong coffee flavor and didn't feel watered down at all. I also grabbed a chocolate babka. It was relatively fresh and warm; the slice they cut was pretty big and it was delicious. Loved the sugar rush to start the morning. My only critique is there was very limited options for food. There were only two or three things to order. We got an assortment of baked goods here, and ate it across several days for breakfast. The food is good, and I wish I had the chance to try everything fresh...but it was just too much food for us to have in one sitting. Pastries were fresh and substantial in size. Flavors are great...one of my favorites was the squared bread filled with mushrooms! The storefront is clean and bright. Staff is friendly. Parking is a nightmare, but there are some metered spots right out front. I'd try them again to see what else is good, too. read more

The staff is so friendly and it's a pleasant environment to be in- cute shop! As for the goods..... Bakey- has the best store-bought babka in Massachusetts, no debate. I've had babka that disappointed me like a bad date... but this? This is BABKA that texts back! And their sufganiyot during Hanukkah? Little jelly-filled miracles. This cozy modern bakery cafe offers a variety of freshly made babkas, burekas, cheese sticks, spi, breads, and grab & go items such as salads, challah bagel sandwiches, hummus, and bottled drinks. There is seating here. The Chocolate Babka (by the piece or loaf) is very popular here. However, I decided to get a Spinach & Cheese Bureka ($5.50 plus tax), Cinnamon Babka ($6.00 plus tax), and a Raspberry Babka ($6.00 plus tax) to bring back home. The service here was prompt and they boxed and bagged my treats nicely. I enjoyed the sweet babkas and savory bureka warmed up, which were good sized and great for breakfast and snack time. read more

So I'd heard great things about this new to Newton Centre bakery (which is in good company with Tatte, Tous Les Jours and Salt). So how did it compare you ask??? It was delicious! The everything challah bagel with salmon, cream cheese and all the fixings was deliciously light! I love bagels and this may be my newest fave- softer and chewier and super delish! I had a delicious cuppa Jasmine tea to accompany and my friend said her latte was rich and smooth, with a beautiful heart adorned steamed milk. Bakey is a small ,but great pastries. Once you get to the door ,you can smell the bake goods waffling out the door. They chocolate croissants have great taste and the chocolate chips cookies just coming out of the oven , fresh and warm! Service was quick! In and out! Oh my goodness! Where do I begin? So, Sunday morning I have my friend visiting me in Beverly from Connecticut. And we're watching the Phantom gourmet. All of a sudden she says we have to go there! We just need to try their bagels! They're very lite they say and they're made out of Challah bread! So me loving to take a ride on a Sunday decide OK, let's go! 57 minutes later we're in Newton. Walked in the door, and it was love at first sight! A gentleman at the counter oh my goodness, what a sweetheart, so friendly, so inviting! The young woman behind the counter the same thing. When they heard that we traveled from Beverly after watching the Phantom gourmet they couldn't believe it. But yes, that's what happened. They offered us a tasting of their almond Babka, which was so yummy. Then they had just taken out the chocolate babka from the oven. Holy Toledo! It was so yummy! So much chocolate! My tongue was stuck to the roof of my mouth! it was just absolute heaven! I'm not sure if I was more excited about the yummy Babka, of which my friend and I each bought five or six pieces to bring home with us lol or the yummy latte I had, or the light tasty bagels! And then I on top all of the wonderful people they had working there, and boy boy they've got a winner I'm driving to Connecticut in a few weeks to go visit couple of friends of mine who have been searching for a good chocolate Babka.
