This review is long overdue. I tend to get chronic pain in my joints and muscles due to rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. I would never claim that any physical therapist is a miracle worker, but Kevin is basically that. Kevin has been able to work with my pain in a way that no doctor or physical therapist has ever even come close to. With unexplained and excruciating pain for the majority of my life, I only got diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few years ago. Prior to my diagnosis, I had been to 10 or 15 different physical therapists over my lifetime, desperate to find any fix for the debilitating pain I was always in. Kevin is great. He looks holistically at your body and its pain. His exams make sense AND he explains why he has you do things and what it means. For example, he said "because you can bend backwards but not forwards I believe we are dealing with X instead of Y" Really the only downside is he is expensive--BUT WORTH IT-- and my insurance didn't cover it at all. Well where should I begin? My mom had a very severe hemorrhagic stroke at the age of 53. Like most things of this nature, it came unexpectedly and as a shock. I've had Kevin as my PT since 2020 and I am immensely thankful for his knowledge and the work he's done with me throughout these years. When I first met him, I had terrible, chronic upper back pain. In late 2016, I got hit with a double-whammy: both sciatica and a shoulder injury. I was a choral singer who couldn't hold his score and a lover of travel and live music who couldn't sit (whether in an airplane, a car or a concert hall) for more than 20 minutes at a time. I was always in pain. It took too much of my attention all the time, every day. My other shoulder had been injured decades before. I'd had a lot of bad medical advice & treatment -- including physical therapy that made me worse, my movement now permanently restricted -- so I was scared and not-very-hopeful about the future when I started PT with Kevin in early 2017. At age 65, I was afraid that I was crippled. Now, at the end of 2017, my sciatica is completely gone and the shoulder pain is drastically improved, nearly gone. I have visited physical therapists in the past when pulling my rotator cuff, and they focused on fixing that area, but I've never had a physical therapist who really looks at your whole body and all of the issues and how they tie together fully. He works quickly and in ways that have unlocked pain points for me in one visit that chiropractors, massage therapists, and acupuncture cupping did not get to without significant visits or resolving the real problem. I drive a TON, sit at a desk, and have bad posture... so yeah all of my pain is my fault. I went in this time with sacral pain, a 3-day migraine (that even medication was not helping), desperate for help. I have been seeing Kevin at Balance and Body Restoration for about a month now and would like to highly recommend them! Due to a variety of medical reasons and sitting at a desk for several years, I struggled to walk normally and to stand for more than a few minutes at a time. My right knee was permanently in a bent and bowed position. After two sessions with Kevin, my knee was significantly straighter, improving my gait. I could tell something wonderful was happening when I spent at least a half hour visiting with a friend while standing. In fact, I didn't recognize what a miracle that was until after I walked away from the conversation! Talk about an improvement in my quality of life! Great family owned business with people who really care. The story starts with me finding them on the internet and filling out their consultation form. I wrote on there i had a bad ankle with not a lot of movement and was trying to get back to my passion, skateboarding. Within the next hour of sending that in, I received a call from Kevin asking me questions on my ankle and how bad i wanted to get back to skating. We then set up an appointment that same week. Also that same week, Kevin sent over a video email to me expressing his excitement on hopes to getting me back to my passion. And that stood out a lot to me on how personal he was with his clients. Kevin and Thuy are miracle workers who care more about their patients than anyone we have ever worked with. My wife is in her mid seventies and severed her Achilles tendon twice in a 5 week period and was in constant pain and swelling around the ankle area.
