Last service is my last visit to Balance Spa. I've gone to there several times over many years and it used to be fantastic, not any more. Booked an appointment for 9:30 - received a confirmation email for 9:30, showed up and was told my appointment was at 9:45, not a huge deal. I had the collagen facial and two days later my skin feels like sand-paper; my face is red, and sore. On my last two visits during the service I was being "sold" to, specials. . . buy 6 for a percentage off. Not my idea of a relaxing experience. There are so many other places with better services at better prices in the area, were the staff is friendly and not always to sell you the next thing. read more

My daughter and I had the most dreamy experience at Balance Spa and we haven't been able to stop gushing about it! I had a facial with Angela & my daughter had Kelly. Angela was so warm and energetic, offering gentle massage to go along with a much needed facial cleansing, exfoliation, extraction and skin softening mask. Kelly was amazing in giving my daughter's sensitive skin the attention it needed, while keeping my girl relaxed. Both offered valuable skin care tips to take home with us. I also had a massage with Colleen who left me feeling incredible! The range of motion through my neck and hips after the massage felt a little bit like magic. My daughter had reflexology with Fiona, who my daughter claims is the "sweetest woman ever" with the most soothing touch. Sue was awesome, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. We indulged in tea and an assortment of treats at the adorable snack bar. We even got to meet Nan, the owner. She was so attentive and kind, it was no wonder she has such an amazing staff! Only had a pedicure here- mediocre experience. Massage was not long and services overpriced. Not relaxing environment- seats are too close together in small room- so you are forced to overhear everyone's conversation. Chairs uncomfortable as well. Maybe massages are the "go to service" here, but will not go back for a pedi. read more

They Called me once and I called back an hour later and they told me my appointment was cancelled bc I didn't pick up to confirm. I reminded them that I was working and can't pick up immediately. Then the lady yelled at me and told me that they were canceling bc I was upset. I told them yes I was upset bc I already confirmed weeks ago and they cancelled bc I did not pick up immediately for an unknown number since I was at work. Very rude, extremely unprofessional and quite frankly poorly run. Save your money and go elsewhere where they value customer service and are realistic. Ppl have other responsibilities and can't drop everything for a phone call. This Karen who answered clearly doesn't value the customers, their time and other responsibilities. I was going here every 3-4 weeks to get my gel nail polish done but the people I would see would change often. For some reason, no reason anyone could explain to me the gel nailpolish would chip within hours of me getting the manicure. I went in the first time to have it fixed, it was a mess- the woman just fixed the two nails that were chipped the worst and left the rest semi chipped... It was bizarre. The next time I went I mentioned it and they did not give me a refund but it happened probably two more times before I gave up getting my nails done here. I used to go for a facial every four weeks and they were very pricey- Would usually drop over 230 dollars sometimes up to 300 depending on what I was getting. At the time the person who was doing my facial was great- she no longer works there now. read more

I flew to MA to help my dad and hurt my back the day before. I actually got a wheelchair at the airport and had one until I got to NH. When I arrived my left foot had swelled up and continued to swell until I got in to see Sandy. Sandy came highly recommended by one of my dad's caretakers who goes to Sandy as often as she can. Well, Sandy was outstanding! She listened to my issues and worked on relieving my back pain and lowered the swelling in my foot. She fit me in for second appt. to massage my feet before I flew home and only wish I could have taken her with me! When I get back to MA I am going back! Sandy is a gem and in the right position helping people with her skills. She listened to my concerns, was very knowledgeable with years of experience, and was gentle as needed for the areas that required it. I left relaxed, feeling better and happier! If you need a massage and not sure where to go or with who to ask for, ask for Sandy. You will be happy you did! I always have a pleasant experience when I visit Balance Spa. Amanda is so nice and incredibly knowledgeable at the front desk (and now she does nails!) She has never tried to sell me on a service or product I don't need and is always able to accommodate my appointments, I really appreciate it!! I recently got a pedicure from her about 4 weeks ago and for some magical reason it still looks brand new, it's bizarre and now I can't go to anyone else. I've stopped driving all the way into Boston for a good pedicure because she does such a fantastic job. The spa itself is like a hidden gem, really nice and relaxing vibe inside (5 star snack/tea selection as well). The owner, Nan, clearly cares a lot about providing a luxury spa experience. It seems like they are always improving the space and adding services that sound amazing. I also really appreciate how many product brands they carry. It's so much easier to buy my Dermalogica or Tend Skin from them when I stop in for a treatment versus ordering online and paying a delivery fee. For waxing services I always book with Angela. She is incredible at brows & bikini, so fast & painless! I highly recommend this place to everyone, especially when they have spa specials - those are a great way to get a taste of the services at an awesome discount. read more

I just had a massage here and was disappointed. The massage therapist was a sweetheart, but the massage was maybe 50 minutes long. Don't they know that every minute counts?! If you are going to offer a 50 minute massage then advertise it that way, not as an hour massage. The therapist told me that they use that extra 10-15 minutes to turn over the room and for the client to get undressed and redressed. At the place that I work at they add 15 minutes to every massage for these things.They don't take it out of the client's paid time. Again, the massage therapist was a sweetheart and did use hot stones and mint oil, but I think that she is new to the field. I am sure with time she will gain more confidence. I don't mean for this to sound mean, just advice from one therapist to another. Most clients just want to relax, therefore I find it best not to talk to them too much, so they can relax. If you carry on conversation or check-in with them too much it is hard for them to get to that relax state. I let them know that at any time they can tell me if they need anything adjusted. Again, just advice, not criticism. The receptionist was kind of cold when I checked out and told her I was kind of disappointed. She just kept repeating "I will tell the owner"... I had an awesome massage when they were at their old location. My last pedicure at the new place was cut short too. I waited for 15-20 minutes for my mom to be finished and we went in together. I am afraid that the new bigger location has become more about quantity rather than quality. For $80 in the suburbs I think that they should be a little more concerned about quality. read more

5 stars to a spa in Tewksbury??? Really!?!?! YES! This is one of my faaaaavorite places to go. I make the hike from Boston to Tewksbury just to get my cherished eyebrows waxed. The prices are far better than most salons in Boston. I usually ask for Hong or Kristen, but the last time I went neither of them were available so I went to someone else (can't remember her name) but she did a great job! The people here are always SO friendly. The facility is gorgeous, clean, completely zen. I got a manicure and pedicure here before my sister's wedding that was gorgeous. My sister also got a pedicure here before her wedding and it lasted throughout her entire honeymoon! Sand in the toes and all and it lasted almost 2 weeks! That's impressive. This is a great place to take your mom for mother's day or just to plan a girl's day to the spa. So relaxing... until you leave and see route 38 ;) read more

My husband made an appointment here for me. He chose for me to get the Champagne and Rose Body Treatment I didn't know what to expect and this was a total surprise for me. I first walked in and was greeted by amazing staff and they welcomed me with open arms. I was given a tour of the spa and shown to the bathroom. I went into the steam room for a few minutes before my treatment. Meredith came into the locker room at first to explain what I was getting and to see if I was okay with being wrapped up. She came back and walked me to the room---she was amazing. She was so personable and so sweet. Loved how comfortable she made me, and just how she handled everything. I really enjoyed everything about this and I will be making appointments again very soon. The place on the outside didn't look as nice as it did on the inside. I was very happy once I walked through the doors, the layout the relaxation rooms everything was just perfect. This was my very first massage and I had very high expectations of what the experience would be like and from the moment I walked in I could feel the stress begin to leave my body. Although, I must admit I was somewhat nervous Julia took excellent care of me and I immediately felt relaxed and in good hands. I could feel the soothing effects for hours afterward and am already planning some time out of my crazy busy schedule to return. I appreciate the attention to detail, the relaxing environment, and cheerful yet calming staff that was on hand. Great spa environment, great massages by any therapist I've had, wonderful customer service. They are a little more pricey than what I'm used to paying, but if you get one of their 6 pack series, it makes the cost a little more digestible. My only qualm is that if you are in a treatment room near the sink where the therapists wash the stones used in the massage, it can be a bit distracting. Perhaps they can encourage the therapists to be a bit more gentle/quiet when washing the rocks and not drop them in the sink or toss them on the counter. My wife went to this place last year so this time we decided to treat ourselves with a couples massage during valentines week. We reserved our massage, called once, canceled once and the staff was extremely professional. Once we did make it to our appointment, the masseuse's were just excellent, gave a nice hot stone and deep tissue massage for 90 minutes. Everything was well worth it. I really liked the hot gel that they used to tie my feet around. Whatever it was, it was amazing. We are now planning to go there at least once a month, treat ourselves for working hard ;) read more

I had a massage here, and was ultimately disappointed by the experience. The place is something of a surprise on many levels. The shop front is small and plain on the surface. Once they usher you through the door into the spa waiting area though, you'll find a handful of ladies sitting around an incredibly nice, ultramodern fireplace/living room type area reading magazines. The massage rooms themselves are small and spartan, though in good condition. I believe they have a number of masseuses working at this spa, so it could have simply been the luck of the draw for me. The masseur I was scheduled with turned out to be very nice, but not terribly effective. He talked through the entire massage and tried to carry on an extensive conversation. Normally I don't mind talking at the start or finish of a massage, but during a massage I just want to relax, be massaged, and NOT think. At most, my efforts are usually focused on not drooling during a good massage. =) Maybe if I'd had a different masseur/masseuse my experience at Balance Spa would have been better. This ranks pretty low on the massage-meter though, since I left as tense as I arrived and $100 poorer. read more

Balance is a great spa. All the amenities and the chic feeling of a Boston spa, truth be told. However, for being in Tewksbury, I do feel that the prices are a little high. Anyway, the ambiance is great, the rooms are relaxing and the girls make you feel like a queen. The spa has moved their location from further north on Route 38 on Main Street to south on Main Street where the old Post Office used to be. Don't be fooled by the exterior, because once you come inside you will notice how amazing the interior is. Come for a massage or a facial, but I would stay away from the nail services because you can get something better at another locally owned nail salon. Ask for Kelly for a great massage! :) read more

I love Balance Spa! This is an amazing spa environment in Tewksbury! I'm new to the area and downloaded yelp to try and find a nice place for massages in the area. I went to a few different places in town and the very last place I visited was Balance Spa. I was first impressed as I walked inside by the front desk staff, friendly and helpful, they greet you, offer refreshment and show you into the waiting room. I had a 90 min. Total Relief Massage and it was fantastic!! My therapist was Caitlyn and she was knowledgeable and attentive to my requests and focus areas! The massage had aromatherapy, paraffin and hot stones included and I left the room feeling so incredibly relaxed! I didn't want to leave after the massage so I checked in with the desk and I was able to sneak in for a pedicure also! My nail technician was Teresa and she did a great job, even the massage during the pedicure was awesome! Cannot wait for my next treatment here! I go here every month for a facial, it's my treat to myself. Kristin is great, but so is everyone else I've had there. Oh, and every now and then I also treat myself to a massage. If you can get Alberto, you'll be very happy. But I've also been happy with the other people I've had. The only service I've been disappointed with is their nail services. Although they are super cleanly, I just haven't had the best luck with mine. One great thing is that they have an email list you can sign up for. Love this place. I went in to get my eyebrows waxed and was pleasantly surprised by the serene, professional atmosphere. The place is HUGE - don't be fooled by the outside. Everyone was polite and friendly and Sarah did a great job with my brows. They have complimentary tea, water and fresh cookies, which I thought was adorable. Never a bad experience and I have been going here for many years (this location as well as their previous location) This is my go-to place for a massage, facial, reiki and occasionally a high quality pedicure. I would recommend the LaStone ™ Experience or the The 'Best of' Balance Facial as a special treat. As the other posts state, the atmosphere is calm and tranquil. The staff is very friendly- they welcome you as soon as you come in the door- whisk you away to a dimly lit waiting room with comfy couches- offer you a variety of tea/water coffee or snacks and let you relax while you wait for your service. They have a small area where they sell products, but they keep the product pushing to a minimum. I think the prices may be a little higher than some other places, but I always know I'll have a good experience- years of various types of visits with no regrets. read more

My wife and I went for a couple's massage on 9/8 for our anniversary.. The experience was amazing from the moment we walked in, until the moment we walked out.. The women at the front desk greeted us with the utmost friendliness and escorted us to the waiting area. Emily was my therapist.. She took a few moments to explain every detail of the massage ,including where I needed the most work and the desired pressure to be applied.. The next 90 minutes were pure bliss.. A mix of massage, aromatherapy, and hot stones were used , and by massage end, I was in a complete state of relaxation. My wife had Marcia as her therapist and is already itching to go back to see her, as I am Emily.. we were given water and were offered to stay as long as we needed and to enjoy a wide variety of snacks and tea before we left.. I received facial and bikini waxing religiously for two years with Sarah as well as facial treatments. Then I moved 45 minutes away. I tried someone locally and was so spoiled by Sarah's work, that I had to drive 45 minutes to switch back to seeing Sarah for a handful of months for her to clean up my lines and fix my skin.
