I have a regular massage therapist in my hometown and have had many treatments in cruise ships and at resorts. None compare to the massage by Sue. I mentioned problems with one of my shoulders. She spent extra time on that area, but not so much that I felt other parts were neglected. I stumbled upon this place during a quick trip to the area. It was very affordable and close to where I was staying. I specifically wanting a prenatal massage (a first for me) and was very pleased with Tracy's service. We completed the paperwork and discussed the issue with discomfort in the shoulder blade area most likely due to sports. She matched us up with Alex (male) to do a 30 minute massage. Alex was professional and my son enjoyed the massage. However, additional treatments will most likely be necessary as he felt close to the same as before. A recommendation was made for Chiropractic services too by another office they are not affiliated with. I also talked with another therapist Monica who was a great resource. I woke up with a pain in my back and decided to research massage therapist in my area. Of course most places (with good reviews) were booked, but I finally got in contact with this place and was able to schedule a same day appointment. My appointment was scheduled for 2pm, but the GPS said I would be there at 2:02 (I got off the wrong exit, which rerouted me and caused my time to be delayed). At about 1:50, someone from this establishment called me and said "if you're outside waiting you can just come in." I thought that was weird, but I just brushed it off bc I know some establishments used to have the "stay in your car until we call you" rule at the beginning of the pandemic... so I responded by apologizing and letting her know that I got off the wrong exit, which pushed back my ETA and I would be 2 minutes late. I kid you not, this lady (receptionist) paused for a few minutes and then hung up on me lol. So I'm like ok? Maybe it was a mistake and waited to see if she would call back...she didn't. So I called back and asked if she hung up on me and she was like oh I think the call may have dropped. -_- you're on a landline ma'am. But I was just like oh okay, well I will be there shortly. I get there, the set up was very basic. I was not impressed with the room at all. Only a bed and small stand. When I get massages, I always think of a relaxing spa like environment, but this wasn't it. I feel for the prices they charge, they should definitely invest in the place. I went to the restroom, and it did not appear sanitary. I paid for a hour massage and explained that I was having back issues and that I would like for her to focus mainly on my back area. I DID NOT KNOW THAT SHE WAS ONLY GOING TO MASSAGE MY BACK. Everywhere I've received a massage from always ask is there an area you would like to focus on and they focus on that area, but they still give a full body massage. I was just so confused. I was originally going to get an adjustment from In8, but she was closed. I was extremely desperate for some relieve due to shoulder pain, so I stopped in for a walk-in appointment. I was greeted and booked for an appointment with Natasia. Natasia brought me back early enough to undress and be on the table by my scheduled time. She listened to my requests for more pressure and throughly worked my neck and shoulders. I appreciated the feedback of areas where I have muscle tension, so that I can be more aware and stretch on my own. Also, I appreciated that she used Tiger Balm to ease the inflammation of my tight muscles. But most importantly, I LOVED that I got my full 60 minutes on the table! I've worked with Sue on each of my visits. She concentrated on my problem areas and gave advice on how loosen up those muscles. The prices for an hour are fair and were comparable to other places. I am a business owner and understand the complexities Service based industries are facing and also understand the need to take precautionary measures when in close proximity to patrons during the Covid outbreak, however there is a way to speak to people. Upon entering the room Jen was less than inviting and began spouting out mask rules and regulations in an authoritarian tonality versus explaining. She told me to pull up and tighten my mask. I told her I didn't appreciate the way she was talking to me and she proceeded to say sorry that's the rules. Had she guest serviced me, asked what brought me in and then proceeded to explain the the rules I would have stayed. Now they're telling me there's a 12-hour cancellation policy & that they'll be charging that 50% fee. When I entered Balance, there was a row of doors or massage rooms straight ahead, and a small lobby or waiting area where we met our therapists. The decor was simple, colorful and relaxing. I was not 100% satisfied with my massage session. It seemed as if my therapist was just "rubbing" my limbs and back. I felt her fingertips more than her whole hands. She also took her hands off me too many times, which I thought interrupted the flow. She did, however, give an excellent scalp massage, and take the knots out of my shoulders. There was no water available nor offered after our massage. Hydration is important! Also during the massage, I noticed that the walls were thin. I could hear people laughing, talking and doing laundry outside the room. There were also pizza boxes on the tables in the back area. The employee area should be more secluded or have a divider so that clients are not disturbed. My massage was under $40 each since I used a coupon received in the mail. read more

Our trip to Balance was the highlight of a great getaway weekend with my mom. The fact that we had a coupon for $44.99 for an hour, from one of the tourist guides, sealed the deal. On Friday night I booked our appointments at Balance. I had a little trouble with the web scheduler so we called in the morning to confirm. Unfortunately we were running a few minutes late for our appointment the next afternoon, but the people here were friendly and accommodating, and we ended up still getting a full hour of massage. We got there a little stressed, filled out a brief form describing the reasons for our visit, and were led to the massage rooms. My therapist was Charles and my mom's was Tiffany. I got the best massage I've ever had here--not too gentle, not too much pressure. The therapists here ask for feedback and seem very interested in matching their technique to your needs and wants. After my massage, I felt at peace with the world (after months of severe stress) and could have stayed on the table passed out for hours. But I reluctantly got up and got going, and met my mom in the lobby who appeared equally blissful and commented that we should have had the 1.5 hour massage. If you pay upfront, you can buy 3-packs of hour massages for a discounted price of $45 per massage. I love that you can go to their website and see each therapist's work schedule and openings. If Jen isn't available, I'll see someone else. Everyone there is great. There is almost always an opening when I look at the schedule. That's important to me because I just like to get massages on a whim when I'm feeling I need a recharge or when I have a stressful day. This was my first ever massage session. I decided to hit this spot up after running a marathon in the morning. The store setup seems pretty normal. It looks like everyone hangs out in the back so when I came in after a few seconds someone came up front to greet me. My massage therapist introduced herself and spelled everything out for me. I'm not a big fan of the room layout though but it just could be me. It was just a tacky far east theme with equally tacky far east music. I guess the massage was alright. Virginia Beach has more than it share of places to get a massage. Because of the saturation of "day spas" I decided to looking for a "massage" place as opposed to a "day spa" thinking it was better for what I wanted. Balance's web site stated they had some of the best massage therapist in the area and they were all certified. I could say I was sold by this but I'm not gonna lie I was also completely sold because of the affordable prices. Don't let the inexpensive price scare you, they were professional and knew what they were doing. You are not cheated on your time either you get your full session, they do not cheat you out of your hour for prep time and consultation. It's not your regular day spa set up, there are rows of doors on either side of a kind of hall way just off a small waiting area. Nothing fancy but a good atmosphere. As far as I know there is no shower facilities. I was in Va. Beach for a week and got two massages there on two different days with two different therapists. After my first massage I was so satisfied I scheduled another for later in the week. Both massages were very good they both had different techniques. My first therapists, very firm and I sometimes like that since my muscles are tight but always tell the therapist if it's too much pressure cause if you say give me a lot of pressure that's what you get and you may start to think, is this chick's trying to kill me? My second session I described exactly what I wanted and where I'd like less pressure and it's exactly what I got. I slept through that one which is a good thing, I'm sure I was making weird sleep noises, I hope I didn't freak her out. I usually tell the therapists if I fall asleep I may make some moaning noises and to not get creeped out I'm sleep. They have a lot of therapists working there so they claim they can take walk ins, but maybe because my appointments were always first thing in the morning there were usually only one other therapists there. One thing about the noise level that they can do nothing about. Since it's Va. Beach there were a lot of very low flying fighter jets that were very loud. But my advice is the massages are so good and priced right just think of the jet engine sounds as a mantra of meditation, Ommmm... or something like that. Although my husband and I chose Balance because we found a coupon in a tourist brochure, we would gladly have paid full price for our massages here. This is definitely no "day spa" experience (I'd call it tough love, not pampering) but we both came out feeling thoroughly relaxed and happy. The masseuses really knew what they were doing, and they took the time and effort to work on trouble areas, rather than just running through the "whole body" massage routine. This meant the massage was sometimes intense, but totally worth it to get the kinks out. As mentioned in another review, the setting is comfortable, but not fancy, and the jets are noisy, but it didn't stop both of us falling asleep during our massage. I had Natasia Deleon and not only did she just push me back to the next available time to give me the full 90 minutes she did a really outstanding job especially on my neck which usually only gets minimal attention at a lot of places. Sometimes with a massage you can almost get bored with certain spots in the massage especially with a lengthy one like 90 minutes. I would say Ive probably had like hundreds of massages over the last decade or so and this was amongst the best. Really enjoyed our couples massage. We did a seven-hour motorcycle trip to VB and were in dire need! We got an appointment for the next morning after arrival. We were attended immediately upon arrival at the spa. The staff is lovely. Just filled out a short form and then were escorted to the couples room. I asked for medium pressure and it was perfect. When ours was over there were a couple of couples waiting as well, so I guess the couples experience is popular. When we return to VB, this will def be a repeat experience! Just a 10-min ride from the beach area. We got a coupon from the Visitor Guide magazine, and were able to apply the coupon for both of us. But coupon or not, this is a worth-it experience.
